I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you
The things that come to those that wait will be the crappy junk left by those that got there 1st.

In selecting our 2nd TT, after looking at hundreds of floor plans, we picked the nomad 204 which is very much like our first...the rockwood 2304.
We look for line of site from bed to bathroom door with nothing in between. The sofa slide is a plus. Both TT are 23' or less
I guess our choice came from the TT being familar.

I wouldn't want to be in there when you let that cat go.

I thought that I had selected the ideal floor plan with a front bedroom and mid-kitchen until I came across this picture.

I don't know what brand, year, or size the trailer is but I really like the front kitchen with the mid-living area. It just seems so spacious without the need for a slide. Granted, it has a table and chairs in place of a dinette but it would be perfect for 2 people and could accomodate 1-2 additional people if folding chairs were kept in storage.

The truth is that I was never entirely comfortable with the bedroom being in the front but couldn't find an alternate floor plan that I liked until now.

That's one of the main things my wife liked about the Rockwood we picked was the roomy front kitchen.

Plus the bedroom that you can walk around in.

And last but not least was the big bathroom that sold her on it.

For us, we didn't really want a huge trailer. We really only sleep in it. Rain or shine, we are outside, hiking, fishing, whatever. After having a slide in our pop-up, I didn't really care for one in a trailer, what mattered more was simplicity.

Our priorities were in the order of importance:

- used but in good shape
- cash sale, no loan
- bunks for 3 kids (9, 11, 13)
- lightweight so no upgrade of tow vehicle
- room for us to eat inside if we needed to
- short so we could get into most places we wanted to
- access to kitchen and bath for stops

We ended up selling our 2003 Coleman Niagara and buying a 2003 Outback 26rs. Every one of our desires was met. By going older, not only did we get a good unit at a great price, but it is lighter weight than more current year models. We shopped for 18 months and kept coming back to this floorplan, then just had to find one in a price range and condition that we liked. We drove 3 hours to get it and it was more than worth it. After 9 days out recently, we all came to the same conclusion - it is perfect for us. If it rains, and we don't head out somewhere, the kids have the kitchen/sofa area to play games or their bunk area to read, play games or watch a dvd.

This is what works for two of us, somewhat adaptable to having kids and grandkids along. For a different situation, something else may work better.

1. Living area is separated from the main sleeping area (this usually puts the kitchen, maybe the bath, in the middle. Fairly common in larger RVs, harder to find in small ones.

2. The living area puts some people where they can watch TV, others where they can ignore it, and allows larger groups to be face to face for conversation.

If I were using the RV alone, I would have different floorplan preferences. If I were using it regularly in family mode, I would have different preferences.

Hi,
We have a few "must haves":
1. All-in-one bathroom - we don't like the sink in the bedroom.
2. Walk-around bed - no ned in the corner.
3. Lots of windows.

Guess that's about it!

Even with 5 kids, we have only simple requirements that we wanted in a floor plan:

  1. A bed for everyone without having to put down the sofa or dinette. It's saves time and effort in the evenings.

  2. Space enough so that we can move around inside without having to climb over each other. Good for the evening when everyone's getting ready for bed and for those cold, rainy days when we want to stay inside.

We got that in our Keystone Premier. We also got added pluses that we weren't necessarily looking for. We didn't know how much we really appreciated these things until after we used it:

  1. A bunkhouse with its own TV so the kids have their own space. They have ownership of their area and allows the adults and kids to have some separation when we want.

  2. A large open floor space. Some kids can hang out in the bunkhouse, others can do crafts and games in the dinette area; while one adult is preparing food in the kitchen and another is relaxing on the sofa, the toddler can roam and play with his toys between all the zones.

  3. A good-sized bathroom with a separate entrance. I don't like having my face up against a wall. The separate door is handy so we don't have to stomp through the RV just to use the bathroom.

  4. An outdoor kitchen with fridge, stove, sink, and TV (on a swivel). Fridge is good for drinks and salads. Stove is good for making Jiffy Pop popcorn. Sink is good for kids to wash their hands. TV is fun.

  5. Lots of storage space. Even packing for a 3-week road trip, we still have room to spare.

  6. A laundry hamper. Really, it's just an opening to the outside storage, but being able to put our laundry basket out there and having the kids drop their clothes into it, saves a lot of space inside.

The laundry hamper was the biggest surprise to us. When we first saw it, we thought it was the most useless thing we had ever seen .

Funny. One of our desires was to NOT have the lavatory in the water closet. That way when someone is using the restroom, it doesn't restrict others from brushing their teeth, putting on their contacts, etc. Also, some floorplans shoehorn the lav in there without making the room one inch bigger...that much more space lost to the sink.

Don't know about in the bedroom...have to agree with you there, but ours is in the "dinette/bunk end of the living room". It's one room so you can't really demise where it is. But that's in the back, just outside the water closet door.
