The dealers can reprogram the vehicle's ECU without installing the "kit" but they don't want to for various reasons. Yes on most vehicles the physical kit is just an led plugged into an existing socket behind the lower dash panel. Others have a little extra wiring work involved but not all that difficult. The dealers are stubborn because they don't know how to do it or they are worried about possible liability or they just don't realize how simple the job is. I convinced them to do the reprogram on my Ranger as a condition of the sale. The work order had several disclaimers, warnings, and releases of liability but they did do it.

I have a 2003 Sport Trac 4X4 with a V-6, and Ford has "discontinued" the Neutral Tow Kit, Part # 3L2Z-7H332-AA.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram and operating instructions for this part? I can make my own if I can find the right diagrams.
Thanks for any help on this!

I have a 2005 Sport Trac 4x4 that we are planning to tow. Is there any chance that I could get a copy of that wiring diagram, it would be very much appreciated. I can make the kit and have a good friend with all the electronic equipment to re-program the computer.

Thanks

Chris

I too am having difficulties with the Ford Dealer in reference to my 2007 Sport Trac. Is the wiring similar for the 2007 as opposed to the 2005? I know there was a major design change in 2007 as I traded a 2001 for the 2007. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
