If you would consider an area not specifically in Bar Harbor, what about Old Orchard Beach, ME? We camped at "Paradise Park Resort" in OOB over the Memorial Day weekend and it is a very nice park. We were up in the *new* section, and I am a huge clean freak but I found the restrooms to ALWAYS be spotless and well maintained! They have 2 pools, a fishing pond, paddle boats, and very friendly staff. We arrived very late at night and two men from the office escorted us to our site and helped my husband back the trailer in as it was so dark out. Very friendly. And you can walk to the downtown area of OOB as well as the pier and beach area-- though it is a bit of a distance. There are quite a few attractions within driving distance as well, although I do not have experience with those. We highly recommend Paradise Park for anyone wanting to camp in OOB area.

Ayuh, Bah Hahbah, Old Awchid and Wells-Ogukwit are nice placis, with lots ta do. They is also some of ah very finest turist traps, so buy all means do visit them placis. On your way upta Bah Hahbah, stop im Trenton,(grandson's namesake) if u'r intrestid in wethuvanz or cupolas. They gut sume reel spiffy wons theyah. If ya aint shewah how ta speek ah langwij, git a Bob Marley cd soonzha crawss inta the stayt frum new hamsheeah ovuh the pisskatawkwa rivuh.
Oh well, if you are interested in a peaceful reprieve from the crowded CG's and tourist traps longing for the salt air smell, feasting on lobstah & clams, or simply want a place to paint, read or walk the clam flats in peace, look at Sagadahoc Bay CG in Georgetown, Me. about 20 minutes from Bath on US Rte 1 sagbaycamping.com
I like Acadia NP, the Canadians in their thongs at OOB, theater arts and ahem---cultural diversity of Wells-Ogunquit. But I love a 4 day weekend at Sagadahoc Bay CG.
