Now why couldn't it be just that easy to get rid of mosquitos and other bugs

I didn't check to see what snopes says about the water-bag fly repellant, but I have see with my own eyes that it works. We camp in the North Georgia mountains quite a lot and we love to go to the little fruit/veg stand on the corner. You'd thing with all that fruit there would be flies everywhere, but there's not. They have multiple bags of water hanging in varous places around the fruit stand. You know they can't spray anything (at least, I hope they don't! I never smelled bug spray.)

I put some of these bags up on my rear patio at my stick home. I have found less flies and I haven't seen any yellow jackets since I have been using these bags.

The two folks that own/publish snopes have been proven wrong many times. They just often write what ever they believe without any research. IMHO

Snopes actually states "Undetermined" so they drew no conclusion either way.

We get flies prior to rain, and had 7 that I knew of in the bedroom (a slew in the kitchen).....I put up one sandwich size bag with a few pennies in it and thumbtacked it to the wall......and it works - - - no more flies in the bedroom.

Have yet to try it in the kitchen, but plan to next time I am dealing with flies.

I have never figured out how it works but it does. We used to put them up around the windows of a concession stand and the flies were never an issue. I was told it was something to do with their eyes and the way the pennies reflect in the water. Everybody we told laughed and said "yeah right" but when they tried it they said the same thing. It does work.
