I got an E-Mail from my sister the day we left for our camping trip about this bag thing. You put 5 or so pennies in a zip-loc bag and fill it with tap water. Close it up and hang it up-it repels flys! I thought it was ridiculous but I tried it. I put one on each awning support. We ate out every meal and no flies! Also, we usually get a lot of flies inside the RV, not this time. Why it works, I have not a clue but I'll use them again!

So now some scammer has your Email address. did you forward it to all the other members on your list too? Ask yourself "why would anyone go to all the trouble to send those kind of things all over the country?"

The email was from a sister. They never said anthing about forwarding. ??
All you need is one penney. The copper keeps alge from forming in the water, keeping the water clear. The water in the bag messes with the vision of the fly. Yes, it works.

I've heard that they work quite well. I think part of why it works is that flies have compound eyes so water with shiny metal would make bright spots and it bothers them.
Hey you got nothing to lose by trying it and if it does work.....

While we were in Branson a few years back we saw ziplock bags of water on just about every door. They told us when the water moved in the bags the flies would be scared away. I don't know if it worked all the time but we didn't see any flies.

Two Hundred Billion Pennies

200,035,318,672
Two hundred billion, thirty-five million, three hundred eighteen thousand six hundred and seventy-two Pennies
( Two cubes, each measuring 127 x 127 x 127 feet )
Current estimates by the U.S. Mint place the number of pennies in circulation at around 140 billion. Others have estimated as many as 200 billion currently circulating. Since the first penny was minted in 1787, until present-day, over 300 billion pennies have been minted in the United States. So that leaves about 100 billion pennies that have been retired by the Mint, lost down sewer drains, stored in jars, smashed by trains, or collected by numismatists in the past 200 years.

The folks cooking at a re-enactment area of a museum in the desert swear by em... they can't put window screens on the historic buildings,
so these are the next best thing to keep the flies off the food....
Here is a pic from their blog of the bags actually in working mode...
