hhhhhmmmm? I went camping over the weekend and made s’mores over the campfire. Instead of using Hershey’s milk chocolate... I used Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares and Reeses peanut butter cups (and now Reeses come in dark chocolate!) I was thinking that the Ghiradelli raspberry or caramel filled squares would be good too. What could I use instead of graham crackers? Any ideas? Also.... what kind of wine goes with smores?

We will often use chocolate chip or chunk cookies instead of the chocolate and the graham crackers. Just roast the marshmallow and put btw the cookies. A little easier to make and always a hit with my son.

someone told me to use ginger snaps instead of graham crackers. I haven't tried it, but it sounds good...

Vanilla wafers make good (tiny) smores. We were camping one time and ran out of hershey bars, so we used some chocolate truffles that we had. We just sliced them and put them on the crackers then covered with the hot marshmallow. Those turned out really extra good! You can also use chocolate flavored marshmallows with either the vanilla wafers or graham crackers.

Oatmeal cookies, with or without raisins, work well.

I would suggest a nice, smooth red... California Merlot, perhaps, with chocolate. Happy camping!

Nutella is a great replacement for chocolate in smores.

Sometimes we add toffee chips, butterscotch chips, or pecans. We've also used those cookies with chocolate icing on the bottom and choc squiggly lines on top.

A friend suggested using jam instead of chocolate. I haven't tried this yet, but I plan to this weekend.

We just served a peach wine at a dinner party and it was wonderful. Something like that might compliment the fruity flavor in jam smores.
