I used my bandsaw to cut foam. First marked it with a Sharpie pen.

If you don't want to go for an electric knife, use a serrated one. Wet it with soapy water as a lubricant.

We have a king bed, camping size, so we need to cut a mattress down.

Right now I have a memory foam topper, but it is not enough. I am thinking of getting the Wal-mart Spa Sensation 12" mattress, and cutting off the excess.

Has anyone tried that?

I tried that mattress in my old Safari. I hated it. To me, it felt like I was laying on a brick with a little bit of foam on top of it. If your bed is a standard size, and have a membershipt to Costco, Costco has a far better one available, or you can go whole hog on a Tempur Pedic. They are better than the Costco one, but MUCH more expensive.

For my Allegro Bay, I simply bought the pillow top mattress that Camping World sells, and put the topper I bought for the original mattress on top of that yesterday. It feels pretty good so far.

I tried a Costco foam topper on my Winnebago mattress but it was still too hard. I found a site on the web and bought a 6" thick piece of foam that I used to replace the factory mattress.

So now I have a 3" foam topper on a 6" foam mattress. Works well for me. I haven't had a problem with my back since I got rid of the Winnebago mattress.

I have had to cut a smaller size of foam. Layed it between two C-clamped boards and used an NEW large X-acto knife to cut it. One smooth motion to cut and done!
Came out looking good.

It's super easy. Mark where you want to cut with whatever. Compress it between two hard items--wood, steel, hard plastic or whatever you don't mind scratching and use a box-cutter/razor-knife. Cuts like butter and a clean look.
