(WHINE ALERT)

I'm a single female young(er) retiree, and travel in my motorhome about six months out of the year. I was widowed about five years ago, and although we didn't RV together I miss having a partner in crime. But with my lifestyle, finding a PIC is difficult.

Don't want someone who has a J-O-B, because that still leaves me traveling alone. Besides, I don't want to have to negotiate the lengths of my absences with anyone.

Among the single men in my age group, those who have the time, want to travel WITH someone, have the financial ability to do so AND who likes me (and me, him) ... well that's a pretty darned small universe.

Not sure what I want from this post ... except to say that when I'm on the road and exclaim aloud about a beautiful view, I'd rather share a memory than startle the dogs.

Sometimes, life just sux. But a half full glass still beats an empty one. I salute you for staying adventurous.

Join Escapees and then find and join your local chapter, take a look at their magazine and in the back you will find tons of clubs to join including single, widowed etc clubs, join the HR club too, etc.

They all have SO many rallies through out the year across the US that you won't have time to worry about not being busy and meeting someone because you will be DOING it every weekend if you want to with people who share the RV'ing life!

Here is a list of a few of them, they all have great get togethers/rallies and there are numerous singles of all ages. Good Luck! No need to whine if you hook up with these RV'ers!

I HAVE been looking at these singles groups, and many of their activities are nine-hour drives from where I am in Salt Lake City. Yet their excursions are relatively short -- that is, relative to how I normally travel.

With the price of gas, I've not been a weekend / week-long trip kind of RV'er. I volunteer for months at a time for the national parks, forest service and in wildlife refuges. In that way, I get the biggest bang for my limited gasoline buck and I get to develop friendships all over the country.

I've got commitments for seven months this year in Washington, Louisiana and New Mexico ... but I'm thinking about wintering in AZ next year. That would put me amid like-minded people and much closer to a wider range of singles RV activities (without the volunteer claims on my time).

That would be an unusual freedom that perhaps I should sample.

Getup'ngo - my dear friend lost her husband 5 years ago too. She just joined one of the online 'dating' sites in an attempt to meet her partner in crime. (although her crimes are local lol) It is cheap and you can emphasize your wanderlust intentions to look for the right man who will be able to hit the road for months on end with you. We are both shocked at the number of people out there looking for life companions who are all in the same position - they need help connecting. You can search the areas in which you will be work camping, your home base or anywhere you may next land.

Although she has not made a love connection, she has met some very interesting men whom she would never have run into in the course of her daily life.

Just a thought.

Thanks, Iris. I occasionally hit Craigslist personals ... and once I saw an ad posted by a longtime solo full-timer. He was looking for "a navigator" to go to Mexico with him. I was intrigued and responded, telling him I had a MH too. We planned to meet for lunch, and then he proceeded to have conversations with me in his head, decided exactly what I would want (to drive rather than "navigate," to take my rig instead of his, etc.). He backed out of meeting me, saying he knew he'd like me but that it wouldn't work out. I laughed pretty hard.

Met another guy while camp-hosting last summer, and "on paper" he looked perfect. But on closer examination we just didn't like one another. Actually, I met THREE guys last summer that "qualified" but were a poor fit another way. So maybe I'm already sending out my sonic vibrations and p~u~l~l~i~n~g these poor hapless men into my sphere.
