Prior Marine here also. He is stationed on a US Base there would be no restrictions imposed on him to keep him from leaving the base unless he is locked up or has been in trouble and is on restriction. If the guy was stationed in Cuba or somewhere similar then I would buy it being hard to leave as they are restricted to the base for their safety but not in our own country. If you get his 1st and last name each base has a base locator you can contact and they will tell you if he is on thatbase.

This looks like the same clown that was selling a Monaco MH at way below market value back in November. No question it being a scam.

We dealt with this same guy. I spotted his ad for a Discovery with a unbelievable price and asked if it was a partial ownership. His email was the same as yours word for word.

We chose to have fun with him waiting for the "money deal" and when it did......We asked for his unit # and his Commanding Officers name and phone number. Never heard back.

You can tell it's a scam when 1) cell phone doesn't work 2) only wants to communicate by email 3) Wants a deposit before he'll show you the rig, because he's out of town and wants a guarantee of your committment before traveling. 4)Only he has the key. 5) Emails are coming in early morning hours.

Somehow he knew where we were located because this "rig" was being stored in the town we live in. Hmmmmmm??

We were saddened to see that he was using the military as his cover. Our soldiers are men and women of character and committment and obviously this person knows that. It makes his story more believable.

Larry... good for all of us to see a real life example so that we might better avoid problems.

Thanks for posting.

Doubt very much this person is in the military, just don't think anybody willing to give up years of their life to serve our Country would resort to these tactics.

I agree with this and would like to add that after spending twenty years in the USMC, being hard to get off base is a laugh. May be if he is in the Brig (Stockade, for you Non Navy)(Jail for you Civilians)
or is on a day on day off schedule due to his work in the Air Force.
If one of these is not the case, He is not Military.

I got the same response from him and sent it in to RVTrader as a suspicious ad. Hopefully he lost his ad and the money he spent to run it.

I knew he couldn't actually be in the US military because of the language he used. Even a buck private would know the correct terms.

Creeps like this are trouble for everyone.

I wonder if there's a penalty by the US Military for impersonating an enlistee or Officer? Do they go track down these goons?
