Okay... opened up a few of the spreadsheets. I even played with one and put in all of our expected monthly numbers and saved it.
Now... I have not worked with a database or a spreadsheet in years. (in my job I had old macros) before I go to a whole bunch of research and re-invent this, so I have a couple of questions.
1. Is there a spreadsheet where it lets you plug in each time you have expenses, and then it subtracts from your set amount you budgeted, so you know what is left to spend in that catagory?" I am thinking along these lines--- say I have $400 budgeted in my grocery catagory for the month, and I stop at the store and spend $85 and then at a fruit stand and spend $15, can I plug in the $100 and it will jump into another column across and show $300 left yet in that month?
and
2. How about a spreadsheet that will automatically combine all the monthly stuff at the end and having a yearly total? So I can see that each amount *saved* towards something such as insurance or license is accruing each month?
I suppose I could learn and research on how to set it up and can build one myself, but if someone has one already, I would love to use it and just plug in my own numbers?

So I selected RUN and it downloaded. Now it comes up as a 'read only' file. How could I use it, as I think it looks good

firedude wrote: This is a Budget worksheet I developed with the help of Patt Hilke a good friend. It's the basic full-timers budget worksheet and it open and can be customized to suit your own needs. Additionally it ads and totals your figures for you. The problem is now fixed and works fine. pleas PM me if experience a problem.
I have corrected a problem with the version that was not opening for people. It should be fine now. You can download it here..

Try saving it on your computer with a different file name and then try reopening it. Sometimes we have that issue at work when someone else is accessing the file at the same time you are.

Here's a comprehensive Excel budget sheet I created and use. Allows you to input various incomes, both taxable and non, suggests how much should be put aside for taxes, and lets you know how far off your budgeted expenses are from your income. Figures gas costs on price per gallon and estimated distances and fuel efficiency of vehicle.

I really appreciate the budget help in this thread. We're a couple of years out from moving to a full-timing lifestyle and, after working through the income side of things, the budgets here are very helpful for the expense side.
I'm a bit concerned with the campground costs. At this time, I think we'll start out moving maybe three times a month for 6 months a year and then land close to "home" for the rest of the year. During the longer side of things I can see us paying under $400 a month.
When I look at the areas we'd like to explore during the gypsy six months I see lots of campgrounds that would cost us $30-$35 a night, even with 10 day stays. I see people talking about corps of engineers campgrounds, etc. and they might be just right, but we do want to do some serious sightseeing during those earlier gypsy months of our full-timing. Do I need to budget up over $800 a month during those travels or will we be able to find nice (I'm not talking about high end resorts or anything like that) reasonably priced, 10 nights or so stay campgrounds in, say the New England portion of the country?
Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

On my MH, I have discovered that when I start the engine, the costs go up dramatically. If you can slow down your travel time and stay a couple of weeks in places, it will keep your daily costs down.
