I built my own for about $6 in material off plans for DTV ant. on the web,replaced the whole wingman head,I was getting 2 channels at my fav.camp spot I now get 15-22 depending on the site,I used 2"square PVC tube&heavy copper wire for the wiskers & I get that many channels UNamplified:C
I did the same thing when the booster went out on our old 5ver.
Got 17 CLEAR stations(no digital fade) at a campsite I normally got only 6 with constant fade when in use. I used a wood back with PVC tubing to insulate with left over copper wire I had from some electrical jobs I had done. COST = O.
Mine looked a lot like this and I kept it in a cabinet so no one ever saw it while it was in use.

If I hadn't tried it myself; I'd have never believed it.

Many are closed because of blatant rule violations. Many are closed because the mod's spend too much time editing/modifying/deleting posts that are maybe, or appear to be intentionally/unintentionally offensive to other posters. Some get closed because they get way off the original subject. Some get closed because the OP gets the answer they need and their issue has been resolved. Some may gets closed due to obvious trolling. Some posts get totally "poofed". And I assume it is for one of the reasons above, but don't know it. Because I never saw the offending post, before it got bombed.
Some mod's are a bit thicker skinned than others, and may let things go for a while to see if the thread can stay on track. And Frank will usually provide an explanation why they closed the thread. Other Mods may not. Closing a thread does allow the information to be available for future viewing/searches. Deleting a thread sends all information into bits and bytes never-never land. Never to be seen again.
I have had some posts deleted too. Usually because I have become offensive. And I fully expect them to be offensive on purpose. But figure I can get my message across to the intended receiver, before the mod catches up to it. Or the intended reader can report it to the mod.
One last thing. Any one of us can be blocked from posting on this forum. I know there have been a very few that have been kicked off permanently. And some temporarily. But the forum administrators invoke this penalty very rarely. But bottom line is there is a lot of cr*p that these mod's and admins put up with.
And finally, anyone that does not like this forum, for whatever reason, is free to go elsewhere for any information they can get here.
If you want to learn more about frame issues, just type Lippert in the search box. And come back and start a new thread that adds new information, when your done reading your search results.
I agree 100%.
I personally think the mods on this forum do a great job.
Thankless at best....and enough to tick you off at worst; with the comments on their actions are concerned.
I think if you actually did a count; the same 10-15 names would pop up on the threads that get closed,locked, or poofed 99% of the time on subjects that have been beaten to death on here. You all know who you are...I've been involved in a few myself.Simple rules; follow them, no issue.
Don't want to follow them? Well....enough said.

According to you people, there must be at least one failed Lippert frame trailer along each half-mile of the Interstate system and many more on each mile of local roads.
It just ain't happening!
1; IS too many if it's YOU it affects.
Don't be so quick to criticize those that have had failures or are worried that they May be next.
NEXT could be YOU.
The only way we'll ever see them built as most of us would like to see them is for people to quit buying until "they" do it right. And that's just not going to happen.
Or maybe someone with a "Name" or money; gets slaughtered on the road while towing one of these as a result of poor craftsmanship and design.

What other mfg's out there would benefit from the demise of Carriage.
What ties do the other major brands have with upper level people who are associated with Carriages creditor.
Follow the money; it doesn't make sense and if it doesn't make sense it's probably a power play to destroy Carriage at the cost of 200 stiffs that make their living in Millersburg.
If the story in the link was factual; What other reason would there be?

Me thinks you hit the nail on the head. And until someone "important" gets hurt or maimed from the******they produce; Nothing will change.
Those that have never had a frame failure and want to blame the problem on the owner...well, I can't say what I really think of your opinions on here.
Except; why don't you tell us what kind of remuneration you get from these mfg's that keep on building this junk.
I'm sure it's something....free after warranty period work? I know for a fact Keystone did that a couple years ago..(to try to create "goodwill")...Sorry ; I never bought into it:(...Maybe they still do it. Keep on telling everyone how wonderful their products are....There's probably some FR shils on here too, maybe even Lippert.

We use our tote a lot when doing St. Pks. with electric only hookups.
I like long showers:B so does the wife; and dishes fill our galley tank up in 3 days easy....It is what it is and it works for me.
I love the sound of our tote rumbling down the road behind the dually...we even make bets when it's gonna loose a wheel around a turn:B.
It is what you make of it.

If ya's haven't tried it yet; smoked turkey is excellent.
Of course it takes a while but it is worth it.
I also like to smoke the trout I catch. Usually do 30 to 40 at a time then strip the meat off and make a Pate.
I don't usually eat Trout; but as a pate....Oh boy!:B:B:B
Of course;having some cold Molsen Ice around helps the process of cleaning the fish and making the pate.;)

I use apple, cherry, hickory and or mesquite depending on what kind of meat I'm cooking.
All give a unique flavor.
And I have lots of all sans the mesquite because that's what we use to heat the house in the winter.

Accusing someone of plagiarizing information is a pretty serious thing considering you use all sorts of website info ALL the time trying to push your opinion of ST tires and their virtue.

I seriously doubt the info provided was plagiarized; it was used as a reference with information really anyone with a computer could have garnered. I think you ought to take a look at info you've pushed along here on this forum and others before you try discrediting someone.
I personally think it's a shame you have so little regard for your fellow RV'ers that you continually try to push a product that has caused untold thousands of dollars of damage to peoples campers.

That "article" was written on this forum in the 5th wheel section last year.
"Chris" is a member of this forum and was trying to clear up all the nonsense we get about LT versus ST tires.
I think he did a great job, as that article made it's way to the Hitch Hiker forum as well as several others at the time.

Do you realize you have debunked your own posted statement that Astro-Foil dosen't add to the R-value? Heat flow is what insulation's job is amd why we use it. Astro-Foil is the original and was developed for use by NASA to be the insulation used in the space ships/shuttles/etc and it's what is used. It's very light in weight, highly reflective on both sides, an excellent moisture barrier, thin at only 5/16" (8mm) thickness, and quite inexpensive to mass produce.
Your posted inpressive to most RV purchasers as positive R-values of R-15, R-7.3, and R-5.4 are with using the Astro-Foil alone in a cavity and does not take into account the normal insulation properties used by RV manufacturers. Whether it be in a manufacturer's normal construction or an available option. IT works!
We, (I'm not at liberty to give you the names of those involved as it's proprietary info) had experimented with Astro-Foil as to it's effectivness and found that using a layer both on top of spun fiberglas and under it was the most effective. It not only reflected both ways from the outside surfaces but also reflected internally somewhat in the sandwich of foil/fiberglas/foil blanket. As a bonus, served as a moisture barrier in both directions to keep the fiberglas very dry in both cold and hot extreme temperatures of -20 F thru +110 F variations between inside the prototype box test structure and the inside of the thermo controlled testing chamber. Can't give you the details. This sandwich severly limited any "sweating" that would have normally occured without using the foils. This vastly reduced the convective and radiant transfering before the unwanted thermo's etc even reached the fiberglas insulation's conductive reducing properties. Very effective!
The reason 2 layers of foil are not used in RV construction is due to the issues it creates in fastening the ceiling and roof sheeting. A way was found to minimize these issues but it adds a fair amount of cost and requires considerable accuracy of the worker doing it. Another factor is that most of the RV manufacturers depend on a tight bonding of the sheeting to the "roof trusses" to give their box structure a significant part of it's structural integrity. The 5/16" foil bubble sandwich prevents tight roof sheeting to truss bonding as normally assembled on an RV manufacturer's operation. Using one layer is much better than none at all. As to where it should be placed, toward the living space or the exterior side, depends upon where the RV's used. In hot or cold ambient temperatures and with or without high humidity levels. It's like the saying that "one size" doesn't fit all applications in the way present day higher level RV's are built or optioned but most are head and shoulders above what was done say maybe 20 years ago.

I have searched high and low and am unable to find any kind of R-value rating for flexfoil.
I agree it does help contain the extremes from inside or out....but am unable to find any kind of actual rating for it.
I think the R-16 ratings Carriage uses are probably the closest to reality out of any of them.
