Converter Working?

I understand that my converter is located behind the A/C panel. I used to hear the fan, but have not since I replaced the two house batteries a couple of weeks ago. I have been connected to external power for several months. If connected to external power should the converter run to charge the house batteries? How do I check the converter? My battery panel shows the batteries to be fully charged at all times. Is there a fuse that might can be checked? I am getting ready to put the rig back on the road and want to be sure I don't have a surprise waiting for waiting for me. Thanks

RE: battery buffs - do I have a problem?

My convertor is a Parallax Power Supply converter/battery charger 7400 Series. I assume Winnebago engineers supplied what is needed for the rig. I welcome any insights of others about this particular converter and/or the supplier.
Given the input that you were kind enough to provide and that the batteries are four years old, I replaced both batteries today.
I am not totally clear, but think from what I have read that both the house batteries and the engine battery should maintain a charge when connected to an external power source. I can not determine how the engine battery is linked to the converter or if it may be tied to the house batteries. I have a "aux battery" switch, but not aware of a switch for the engine battery. I am learning more about batteries that I ever would have imagined since I got this motorhome. Thanks for your replies!!

battery buffs - do I have a problem?

Hi. I went full-time last June. I typically stay at a location for a month, but have anchored in southern california past three months to wait out winter. I have never turned off my "aux battery" switch when connected to power. Recently I have noticed that the two house batteries are using about a quarter/half gallon of distilled water each week. The batteries actually seem to be boiling. I turned off the "aux battery" switch a few days ago to see if this makes a difference.
Also, my chassis battery loses its charge over a course of three-four weeks. I have taken to keeping it on a battery maintainer even when connect to power. I know it draws power to run the clock radio and perhaps other items such as the power seats. When the chassis battery is low, the battery booster does not seem to help start the coach. It is a fairly new battery - one year, but loses about 30% charge each week.
I had thought that if I was connected to a power source (currently 30 amp), that the chassis and house batteries should maintain a proper charge.
Finally, I have noticed that the battery box seems to developing a white corrision film. Houston, do I have a problem?? Other than "duh", any insights and what I should do?? Thanks in advance for your insights.

finding doctors on the road?

I have been full timing for 6 months and now it is time to find a dentist and doctor. What do others do when you are moving from place to place. I have resorted to reviewing on-line and hoping for the best. Is there is better approach?

RE: Why park right next to me?

Thanks for the insights. Bottom line is that instead of looking out my window and viewing a great mountain range, I now look into metal about 5 feet away and see a messy campsite and have to keep my windows closed to minimize the noise. Will be leaving a nice site where I had planned to stay for another week.

Why park right next to me?

Why does someone pick the site right next to mine when there are many similar sites available with space between them. Not only does it block my view, but seems odd to want to be forced to see and hear others when there is plenty of room to allow space between each other. What am I missing?

RE: Escapees/Livingston question

I just started using Escapees for mail service as sold Houston home and am now full=timing. Vehicle insurance for RV and Toad declined meaningfully. Won't need smog testing as not in Harris county.

RE: I-10 E at Houston to I-45

I go I-10 to 610 North to North I-45, but check construction on any route through Houston. Good luck.

RE: Bank that is nationwide

I like Fidelity Smart Cash Account. The app allows you to make deposits using Iphone - no need to find bank for deposits. ATM fees are refunded when using most banks. Checking acct. is handy and cash is deposited at FDIC banks.

RE: Made a decision: buying 2012 Honda Fit - thanks

We like our 09 Fit! Beware that it rides low. It is also hard to judge the front and we often scuff the front bottom by going over parking lot barriers.

Desert Hot Springs to Aguanga, CA

I had planned to go from Desert Hot Springs to Aguanga via Highway 74, but am now thinking about taking I-10 to Highway 60 and then down 215. Is Highway 60 okay or should I continue on I-10 to Loma Linda and take 215?. A little longer, but better safe than sorry. I went on 74 today to a day trip to Idyllwild and don't think I would be comfortable towing that route. Thanks in advance for your insights.

RE: California Gas Nozzles

Thanks everyone. Executive, if I am thinking right, the vapor recovery device is the rubber piece that you have to compress to create a seal. I filled my rig just before crossing the AZ state line and have managed to avoid a gas station, but have seen the prices. I guess I will have to start the pumps 3 times instead of 2 times, unless CA gas stations inflation adjust the credit limits.

Thanks for the quick replies. Guess it was the diesel issue. I have a gas engine. One less thing to worry about!!

California Gas Nozzles

Seems that I have read about CA gas stations have gas nozzles that may not fit "traditional RV gas tank openings. May require some type of filling connection (seems it had something to do with what some use with motorcycles). I cannot find the thread in a search. Am I crazy?
I am headed to CA tomorrow and plan to spend the winter. Would hate to have difficultly filling my tank.
Many thanks for any insights.

RE: Prescott to Southern California

Thanks for the good advice.
Chefd, we are staying at Point of Rocks. Has full hook-ups w/ 30amp - not 50amp. We enjoy the park - close to town in the dells.
