RE: Black Streak remover, easy

Scrubbing Bubbles is also a good engine cleaner. Next time you wash your truck, lift the hood, spray some water on the engine, give it a good coating of Scrubbing Bubbles (doesn't take much), wait a few minutes, then rinse it off. You will be surprised how much grease and oily residue it will take off.

RE: Actions that melt my brain

Also, as I understand it, the ammo in the side arms is not the type for long range shooting. It is designed for short range and when it hits becomes shrapnel to do as much damage as is possible to internals after it penetrates the clothing.

RE: WOW it's windy tonight (Fort Stockton, TX)

Welcome to the desert southwest. It is windy all over this area in the spring. Sometimes it isn't safe to travel in a "high profile" vehicle during these storms. If you are lucky, they could be tailwinds. But I don't have that luck--they are always quartering headwinds whenever I travel. Fuel mileage really suffers then.

RE: Actions that melt my brain

Has anyone mentioned people who leave their shopping carts in the middle of a parking lot rather than putting them a "cart corral" or taking them back to the store? They are dangerous when they just left in a parking spot. I've seen wind blow them into parked cars. I saw a woman let hers just run downhill when she had removed her items and it ran into the side of parked car (I reported it to the car owner). It is also inconvenient to have to get out of the car to move a shopping cart in order to have a place to park. (By the way, in the south, they are "buggies".)

Its amazing to me, when new technology comes along, how fast hackers can get in to steal information or put a virus in it.

Interesting. If I don't think the way someone else does I'm a moron and am completely and utterly lazy.
This is an action that melts my brain.

RE: Tire Pressure Dually

I run 80 in the rears all of the time. Truck has 94,000 miles on it, 65,000 is towing miles. When I upgraded my 5th wheel, I had been running 65 in the rears. The new trailer had a heavier pin weight which caused the tires to "bulge" and rub together resulting in a big bubble on the inside left tire. That caused a premature purchase of tires. At 80 psi, it doesn't ride any rougher (that I can tell), and I don't have to go through the pain and trouble to lower and raise the pressure. Bilstein shocks help with any roughness--wouldn't be without them.

RE: Welding complete - thanks Lippert

There is also the fine line they have to walk as to the purpose of the product. I'll bet that 90% of RVs don't get the miles in their lives as mine does in a year. So why build a trailer frame to the same specs as an airplane if its only going to see 150-200 miles a year? If they did, it wouldn't be affordable. And if they did put gussets on every corner, etc., etc., it would be too heavy and the RV manufacturers couldn't put all of the "goodies" that we want on those frames; we would need medium duty trucks (MDTs) or heavy duty trucks (HDTs) to pull them. (An aside: Saw a gathering of Teton RVs--every one of them was pulled by a truck larger than a 1-ton pickup). My 5th wheel goes about 12,000 miles a year. I've upgraded to 8,000 pound axles and disk brakes. The suspension gets a lot of inspections and a lot of "tweaks" as needed. It isn't Lippert's fault; it's mine. That frame and suspension was not designed for my type of use. Another aside: I read where Lippert bought Dexter's axle manufacturing division.

RE: Words That Melt My Brain

"Any Disadvantage to Heat Pump Vice Standard A/C?"
I don't which is worse: verses, or that...
I like them both. I use them both. I also use "v." as a substitute for versus, as in one v. many. I also refer to vice as a weakness as in "this is one of my vices." I also use vice to indicate the second-in-command of some organization as in "if he is not in, may I speak with his vice?"

RE: Words That Melt My Brain

I just read an entry on facebook: "May all your redlights be green." I have always called traffic lights "redlights." I guess it is a colloquialism from the area where I was raised. If I tell someone to go past a certain number of redlights while giving directions, inevitably, he will ask what to do if it is green. I usually give the smart-alec answer for him not to count that one (which of course throws the whole set of directions off), but his question indicates to me that he knows exactly what I'm talking about. C'est la Guerre.

RE: Don't text and drive

Chuckster: You can make all kinds of laws, but you can't put a cop in every car. When I mentioned education, I didn't mean drivers ed in high school. I mean real, no-joke, education. When a military pilot (who may already possess a pilot's license) learns to fly, it takes a year of intense training before he or she is qualified to learn how to employ an aircraft. In our driving programs, we have a student take a test (and don't get me started on the tests) and a simple driving skills test, and then they are let loose on the streets. Their teachers are no more qualified than the students. But I digress...

RE: Don't text and drive

There are ways of stopping the carnage, but the pantywaist in the state capitals or DC don't have the courage to enact the necessary legislation. A simple device installed in all motorized vehicles would stop it.
We don't need new laws, or new devices on our vehicles. We need to train our drivers. Learning to focus on the job at hand and not allowing ourselves to be distracted by anything else is part of the training. He could have been poking info into a GPS instead of texting. I don't think we can legislate common sense. Most of us can multi-task, but we have to know which of the tasks is more critical.
An aside: I can't text well sitting at my desk, let alone while trying to do something else.

RE: Words That Melt My Brain

Isn't "me" the object of the preposition "to"? I don't think "I" is used in the objective, only in the nominative, as in: "John and I are going to lunch." Am I wrong?
