RE: Kohler Generator Installation

Forget about needing a slideout for servicing. The only service that is needed twice a year is the oil change/filter and cleaning of the air filter..The genearator should have a bottom exhaust and for oil draining it will drain from bottom too. Most usage a year is about 20 40hrs and thats alot...

Want a washer and dryer-choices?

We just traded in our Cedar Creek for a 2010 Montana 3400.So far we are very happy with the Montana..were on our third outting and decided that we want to get a W&D for our new 5th wheel. The closet is big enough for a stacked unit.Ive been researching the forums and other sites looking for information on the choices I have.Besides the Splendide stackables what about Maytag or Kenmore washer/dryers..Have 50a service and room/and capacity to put a apartment size unit, also what about a propane dryer... Ok so what do you have and use in your 5ers?

Water heater problems

Just bought or new Montana 3400rl last weekend 9/24/11 and having two problems that are either defective issues or me..1st the water heater, its a surburban 12gal and won't operate in elect mode only..I turned on the blk switch on the WH then the switch in the 5er/ got cold water after 1 hr,so turned the gas mode on 30 mins, hot water..I did operate by the booklet instruction so is the element bad? or does this new heater operate in gas mode only.In my 05 CedarCreek It had a 10Gal Surburban WH and I could operate elect mode by the blk switch in the WH and if I wanted hot water faster just turn on the WH inside the 5er,that would go to both modes gas/elect if the blk switch was on..Next was the bed/couch air mattress after I fill it up 3-5 mins its going down (deflated)..I think its defective....

RE: 5th wheel build quality poll

I've logged about 60,000 mile with our CedarCreek and like to camp during Oct-Nov them Feb-On but Not during the months of Dec and Jan mainly because of the snow.I live in Northern NJ and cold nights down to 20* with the cold winter wind and have no problem of drafts. We use two small electric space heaters to save on propane. The one area I find cold is the wind at the Kitchen table due to being a single pane window, wish I had dual pane to also help keep it cooler during the summer to.But now our 5er is stating to show its age a little here and there,we been talking about a new unit but just don't know what we would like to get, another 5er or a class A.

RE: Cooling 5er in really hot weathher

You also may be set up for 2nd ac in the bedrm, but you must have 50a service too.If you do, then on this trip if its just is too warm for you get a 2nd AC from Camping World.I travel into very warm places during the summer,so it was essential that I have my 2nd for my medication. In 1/2 an hour my 5th wheel is nice an cool

RE: Inside refrigerator fan mod Norcold N611 (pics)

I to installed a computer cooling fan inside my frig.Got the power from the door switch and also installed a on/off switch for the fan inside the frig.Pointed the fan downward from the coils to get the correct air movement..Now next frig problem I noticed that when temps were in the upper 80's to the 90* range and sun hitting the frig outer wall, the frig just struggled to stay cool when being open/closed during the day ..So I removed the frig outside grille to see the heat exchange coils. There was a factory fan there to help vent the built up heat from the frig,so I added a extra fan- a 4" computer fan in the upper vent(grille) to pull out the heat when it was in the sun or temps were in the 90* and pull a on/off switch in the lower grille so I had control over it- My frig works like a charm now even during the highs of summer heat.....

RE: Help with running A/C and Generators; 30 amp service

I installed a 2nd unit,a 13K unit in my bedrm for the 15k just could not get the camper cool for me.When I bought the 5er it came with 2nd ac prep. and a 50amp service.before I bought the 13k unit we were on a camping trip out west, the 5er would only cool down to 80*,and I need my camper cooler than that so when I reach a camping world while on my travels, I installed the 13k unit.Best thing is now it can get down to 70* while sitting in the sun at 90*..As for the Generator,I bought a 5000w Generac Rv generator.Weights 195lbs,but my 5 batteries weight that much too.4-6v and the 12v that came with it. I keep it charged and for back up.Its nice to pull in a rest area start the Gen turn both ACs on, go walk the dogs come back to the RV and its like 73* inside, so we sit down to eat lunch its a comfortable break also there is enough power to use the micowave too.I lost the front storage area but its been well worth it..
