RE: Hot Water Heater Drain Plug

By the way, just to set the record straight: There's no such thing as a "Hot Water Heater". If the water is hot, it doesn't need to be heated. :W Very nice, never though of that. I will now refer to mine as my hot water maker! Also, important safety tip: there is a world of difference between a hot-water-drain-plug and a butt-plug. Trust me: I'll never make that mistake again.

RE: Pet owners warning

Most snakes get out of the way, some hold their ground but I've seen some that have a bad attitude and advance. Thanks. I've seen worse: there are some that go so far as to send hate mail.

RE: 1/2 tons and 5th wheels. Trailer Life magazine article.

If someone would come up with a 400 hp 1/2 short bed reg. cab. that can pull 10,000 lbs up a hill at 85 mph. Or maybe one like mine with a supercharger on, that will pull 10,000 lbs up a hill at 85 mph From a local Caravanners Forum. I did conversion on the figures in brackets. Picked up a 2nd hand 7 month old combo - Play Mor custom built 26ft 5th wheeler with large slide out as well as very customised Navarra ST-X 550 turbo diesel. Had a shakedown for a week and highly impressed with combination. Navarra suspension upgraded to legal 3420GVM(7500lb GVWR) and both 5th wheeler and Navarra have Tough Dog suspension units as well. 5th wheeler is beautifully fitted out with loads of storage inside and PlayMor is manufactured to Aussie specs in US and also fitted out here for more. Towing with Navarra a breeze, 7 speed auto but run at max in 5th when towing, fuel usage 18.3l per 100km (12.85 MPG US)which is awesome for this as van weighs in at about 3800kg(8377lbs) and was most happy to tow up Mt Ousley pass at 80kmh.(50mph , 1 in 6 gradient) Blew me away!! Happy to provide more details and have extensive pic's of inside / out. Have you ever had a "vegemite sandwich"?

RE: Adding 2nd battery question and battery monitor

I don't know of any RV that does not have a cigarette lighter adapter in it - does yours have a TV antenna and power booster? you will find one there! Also agree with the 6v battery answers, now is the time and you won't be sorry. Do some quick "searches" on this and other forums - there is a lot of information that backs this up. So, switching from two 12 volts to two Costco 6 volts would be make a big difference?

RE: I saw one today! I couldn't believe it!

I just remember the spongy, body-leaning ride, the anemic performance if its gasping 6-banger, and to top it off: the cheap plastic Playschool-inspired interior. Also, during the summer, after driving at highway sppeds for over an hour, the radiator would percolate for 10 minutes once it was shut off. Yikes, I'm having PTSD flashbacks.

RE: Adding 2nd battery question and battery monitor

If your going to go with your deep cycle marine battery make sure you buy the same exact same battery. As for as a battery monitor I just go get one of these and save a few bucks:http://www.walmart.com/ip/Equus-Innova-3721-Battery-and-Charging-System-Monitor/15137663 This would be a perfect time to convert to 6 volt you won't regret it!! How does that device work? Seems great to have a monitor that gives actual readouts instead of the green-yellow-red color codes. However, my TH doesn't have a cigarette lighter to stick that device into: in the words of my prom date, without such a recepticle, there isn't much use for that item.

RE: I saw one today! I couldn't believe it!

My S-10 Blazer has over 1/4 million miles on it. I had to drive a S-10 Blazer as a company truck for two years. You have my sympathy

RE: Maybe Dodge should use a Fiat engine.

That`s great for Europe.......but by the time the feds here get done americanizing it, it will not be worth the diesel you`de put in it! Why is it the U.S. tries hard to lower our emmisions, but other countries still grossly pollute? Three words: "Hope and Change". Those that you that went down that road got exactly what you deserved.

RE: Pet owners warning

A buddy from Fla. came for a visit and a desert camping trip. We harvested a large rattler, cleaned it, skinned it, and put it in the refrigerator for a lunch the next day. When we took it out of the refer and it started to warm, it coiled......... OK- tell the truth: just how much peyote did you and your friend ingest?

RE: Solar Panels - Good idea or not

$1,200? Yikes: I spent $140 for the 45-watt Harbor Freight system. That's much more friendly to the walet. Of course, I still have to run the generator.

RE: Rubicon Run

I usually do the trip at least once yearly in my Jeep. Last year was my first time though on a motorcycle. October is my favorite time....Trail traffic, idiots, and law enforcement are all at the minimum and campsites are available. What type of vehicle were you planning to run though with? How about a Rhino? Aside from aftermarket wheel/tires and roll cage, it's pretty much stock. It should make it, should it not? Is there an east and west-end trail head?

Rubicon Run

Anyone ever done one? It's been a mild winter, so it should be open access up there. Maybe we should have a run this summer.

RE: Dodge MegaCab Dually

The haters are out early in this one. :R I don't know who that comment was directed at, If it was directed toward me I asked the question because I seem to have than enough room in my crew cab and I could not imagine how there could be a problem with room. Last summer I had my long bed filled with the T/C and I managed to pick my mother up at the airport. I was able to fit my mother and her wheel chair in the cab along with my two friends that assisted her on the plane plus my friends 8 year old daughter and my natural curiosity prompted me to ask the question. I did not intend to offend anyone and if I offended the O.P in any way I apologize. Wouldn't it have been easier just to put your mother in back in the bed of the truck? Plenty of room back there, and I'm sure if you lock down the wheels, she wouldn't roll around much, as long as you took it easy in the corners and s-turns.

RE: 2 stroke oil in diesel

Sulfur is not a lubricant. I can personally attest to that-- don't ask me how I know. I'm still trying to treat the burns.

RE: Time to upgrade-Class A or 5th wheel toy hauler

We went from a Raptor 3612 & F360 SRW to our current Class A and trailer and glad we did.Any specs on the F360? :@ I could tell you but then Ford would hunt you down and take you out :S I understand that it's just an over-engineered F-260.

RE: White smoke exhaust cold start 2006 PSD. Liquid in exhaust.

My neighbor with an '05 F 250 PSD had the same symptoms: white smoke at start up that went away after warming up. It only got worse to the point where he ended up parking it and having it towed. After $3,500 and a over week in the shop...
