RE: UPS for wall warts

Pirate, I'm curious. Was the UPS plugged in to the 120 vac power when the blanket control started smoking? I'm thinking that the UPS may have an MSW inverter to fill in when the power goes off but if the UPS was plugged in the line power should have been passed thru to the blanket.

RE: Sparker on the stove not working

If the new one has 4 ports you can connect one to the oven.
If you're handy, you can remove the mechanical igniter and install a battery powered one from Lowes / Home Depot. About $20.00, in the outdoor grill replacement parts section. Very quiet; we're talking a real DW pleaser if it matters.

RE: right turn signal not working on hooked up toad

tenbear:
On some chassis like some Fords, there is separate trailer connector circuits.
You are correct if the manufacturer tapped into the MH's lighting circuit.
OP: It would be good to know what chassis you have.
The OP said "there is voltage coming through the right turn signal hole on both vehicles when the turn signal is turned on." Wouldn't that indicate that the Ford circuits were ok?

RE: right turn signal not working on hooked up toad

I don't know how the lights in the Saturn are wired, but since the Saturn turn signals work right, the MH turn signals work right, there is the correct voltage at the connector on the MH when unplugged from the Saturn, I would say something was wrong between the connector on the Saturn and the light.
Does the Saturn use the same bulb for the MH turn signal as for the Saturn signal? If so there are probably diodes in the circuit, if not the separate bulb could be bad. Can you check the voltage on the bulb with the MH turn signal on? If not any voltage there check the voltage on the diodes. Work your way back until you find voltage.
Edit: YC 1, I didn't see your post until after I wrote mine. Didn't mean to repeat yours. BTW, you give good advice.:)

RE: President's Club+Good Sams Junk mail

What am I missing here? I thought that Good Sam and Camping World had been combined and there is no longer a "President's Club". Now I am hearing that you bought a Presidents Club card for life for $20. How is that different from the Good Sam membership?

RE: If you dont travel with the FW tank full???

Having done several 6 week to 3 month trips I soon learned I can't carry enough water to last thru the trip. Normally I keep about a third of a tank and if the water at the campground turns out to taste bad, I use my own. Otherwise I use the campground's water. If I know The next stop will not have water, I'll fill the tank. Only found one CG that I wouldn't drink the water.

RE: To Tow or Not to Tow

I have towed on my last 3 MHs and can't tell the difference in fuel mileage with a car behind or not. I am also the guy who has every drop of gas and every dollar in the little book on the dash. I takes me about an extra 5 minutes to hook up the car at a CG. The car is already wired for the tow lights and braking system so it is just a matter of plugging in the cable from the MH to the car, hooking up the tow bar and safety chains and go. If it is raining I may be a little quicker.
I agree, that's about what it takes.

RE: To Tow or Not to Tow

I tow because I like the convenience of having a car to do my sightseeing in. I don't have to break camp when I go out for the day, The car gets close to 30 mpg, the MH gets less than 10. Its more comfortable driving the car, especially on back roads.
Yes, the expense of setting up to tow is substantial, $2000 to $4000 depending on how much work you do and the dealer's hourly rate.
Try it without and see how it goes.

RE: New tv in mh

Before you do your search, put your antenna up and point it at the place you expect the television transmitters to be. The TV probably has two searches, one starts from scratch the other adds channels to the previous searches. You can try moving the antenna a bit and doing additional searches to find TV stations in different places.
It will become simple after you have done it a few times.

RE: Is 31 foot too long for small campgrounds?

What is advertised as a 31 footer may be longer in overall length. My 28A is actually 30 1/2 feet long. Often the advertised length is the length of the house and the chassis sticks out in front. If you put a bike rack on the back it is even longer.

RE: New Class-C Owner - 04 Fourwinds 5000 28D!

You mentioned replacing your CRT TV. I did that in my MH which is essentially the same as yours, except I have a queen bed. Here is how I did it just in case you are interested.
BTW, I get 9 mpg towing a car in my Chevy based MH.
Enjoy your new to you MH.

RE: Just installed a Camco RV Tornado tank rinser

I have had a Tornado for several years and it did break, but not where you would expect it to. The plastic ring that screws on to hold the hose in place broke. The new one has a metal ring. I guess mine wasn't the only one that broke.
Hope yours has a metal ring.
If you don't already have one, get a clear plastic elbow/extension so you can see the stuff coming out so you know when to stop.
