RE: City rules about overnighting...not happy

From what I understand, many of the communities are approached by nearby campgrounds to put these ordinances on the books. If there is no opposition it becomes law. Unfortunately, places like Walmart don't follow what is going on with city commission meetings or the townships and these ordinances are quietly sliding in place.

RE: Baby it's cold outside and wet inside.

Definitely a dehumidifier or even two to get the moisture out. Then one to maintain. Does it have dual pane windows? Use towels at the base of the windows to wick away the condensation as it forms. There will be responses from those that have first hand experience with this sort of issue. Also try doing a search on this site for "moisture" and "condensation".

RE: Nook-Kindle

If an e-reader is something you desire, just go to Walmart and buy one while they are running a deal. I think the reason they have them on special is because they bought huge volumes (as Walmart so often does) prior to Christmas expecting to sell a gazillon and make a fortune off them. Problem was, now everybody is selling them, like Target, etc. and they didn't sell as many as they hoped. Now they are hung with truckloads. I bought the original Kindle 1 when they first came out and it still works like the day I bought it-fantastic. No need to upgrade everytime a new one comes out. They all read books wonderfully! Mine goes with me everywhere.

RE: driving in and around Atlanta

Avoid typical rush hours times as much as you can for obvious reasons. You do not want to attempt driving around Atlanta itself in any kind of RV. Other then that, it's big city traffic at it's best.

RE: iPhone apps for RV-ing

After reading through the replies listed here, I have downloaded TV Towers and Wx Alert USA. I am especially impressed with Weather Alert USA. It costs $3.99, but it is well worth the money. Wonderful thread idea Mark_be !!

RE: iPhone apps for RV-ing

Life360--we have it on both our phones and one of our daughter's. Only turn the locator on when one of us is travelling. It is both interesting and fun, and who knows, in the event of a major problem, a potential life-saver.

RE: Other than outdoor showers, what don't you use (and why?)

We open and use the jack-knife sofa for our 85lb Choc lab to sleep on with a sheet over it. Too uncomfortable to be used for anything else! Outdoor shower gets used after we get all dirty/sandy on day trips and washing hands after dumping tanks. Awnings we use ALL the time. TV antenna-on occassion. Oven -cooks terrible.Used it once. I would rather have a micro/convection oven and a two or three burner smooth cooktop.

RE: Is there no privacy left????

No such thing as 'getting away from it all' anywhere these days.

RE: Cover for range top

Can you post a picture? I keep looking for something that will work to cover ours. Love your idea!!!

RE: I like to dream

It is lovely, but certainly not my taste. I prefer a lot less 'hardscape' and more warm wood. Tons of beautiful ideas and storage though! It is nice to dream......

RE: insulation on slideout roof?????

I'm not sure how much benefit you will really get from it as you still have the slide-out sides exposed to the sun and heat as well. I honestly think the benefit would be minimal if any at all...just my two cents.

RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???

Went out with a ladder and cleared alot of the snow off Summerhouse. Sun came out in the afternoon and took care of nearly all the rest. What an odd winter we are having so far. It looks so cold and lonely out there.....

RE: 2 door or 4 door Jeep Wrangler?

We bought a 2009 2 dr Jeep Wrangler for DH's winter daily driver and to tow behind our 32 ft Class C. We really love it! Sure it rides like a billy goat, but it is so much fun and tows so very easy. That being said though, we do have a more comfortable vehicle for our longer drives. We also have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe that we require for pulling our boat. It is also the vehicle of choice for our 85# Choc lab to ride in. Buddy does love the Jeep too! We also have both the soft and hard tops. We don't have the power hoist and would love info on that!! We just lift our off and set it on a couple saw horses. If we didn't have the Tahoe, we would trade our current jeep in on a 4 dr though. But, only because of our dog. I can't lift him very easily into the 2 dr Jeep, and he can't get in by himself.

RE: RV repairman - Did I get taken for a ride or fair service?

He may not be the best technician around, or at least may not have the best diagnostic ability when it comes to RV furnaces, but when he arrived it was not working and when he left it was operating as designed. He did not cheat you and given the opportunity he would do what he can to make it right with you as he offered with the new furnace install. He in as much is telling you he has gone as far as his abilities can go, and he is in 'replace rather then fix' mode. Before I would throw in the towel on the furnace itself. I would either replace the circuit board or find another place of business tech to diagnose the issue. Replacing the furnace itself just yet seems like a premature action to me. Good luck and do let us know the outcome. Will be a learning experience for us all!!

RE: Occasional water pump turn-ons?

Sure sounds like a leak somewhere. I've only known the pump to come on when the pressure drops from a leak. Doesn't take much for it to trigger the pump to come on.

RE: Ever wonder where you site fees go??

Very informative post. I know I, and probably many others, seldom stop to think about where are fees go and how they break down into actually making a park or campground a sucessful endeavor. We all groan when we pay for sites, the same as we groan when we fill our gas tanks, propane tanks, etc. It is very intersting to stop and think for a few moments about all that really goes into running a nice campground/rv resort. Wishing you continued success and many full sites!! Thanks for sharing!!

RE: Immediate replys to Forum postings

Newest is actually the only "forum' I use and I have it set up as my go to link to RV.net. I visit it usually a couple times a day, except recently during the busy holiday season. But then I am retired and that is part of the blessings of being retired. I can do what I want to do these days!!

RE: Anybody towing a Wrangler?

We are towing a 2009 Wrangler 2 door. Tows so smooth and light we can't even feel it back there. Hooking and unhooking with our Roadmaster All-Terrain literally takes just minutes. In fact, I (DW) have hooked and unhooked it several times by myself when I have left for a nearby campground a day in front of DH who rode to the campground with our SIL and the boat after work on Fridays. I'm retired and our daughter has summers off. We love getting a jump on the guys!! Two door Wrangler suits our needs, though we have discussed that a 4 dr would be nice too! We may upgrade in a couple more years.

RE: So glad we switched!

We love our Class C and for all the reasons you mentioned. When we take our grandkids, they absolutely love the bunk. It is their space and they do so enjoy having a place of their own. When they don't travel with us, that is where hubby loves to take an afternoon nap! We find it handy for jackets/coats in cooler weather. When it rains, the shower becomes our closet until jackets dry off!! So glad you are happy!!! Happy travels to you!!
