RE: Thetford Toilet Won't Shut Off

They usually have fairly simple working parts. If you pop the side cover off you will see the pedal and the workings of the toilet. On my Thetford there is a plastic pin that gets pushed down into a hole that makes the water flow that I could see how it may get stuck and keep the water flowing. On mine I just had to replace the spring pack which is behind the pedal, because the spring kicked sideways. Now you can not get the spring back into position to get the pack back together, believe me I tried for a day and a half. But that is what would not let the ball valve close all the way. But really don't be too intimidated by the thing they are not really that difficult to figure out and they sell repair parts for all of them.

RE: Please wash your hands

Something to think about....in a restroom if you wash your hands, you have to work the paper towel dispenser or push the button on the blower if they are not automatic but then you have to get out of the restroom so do you grab the door handle or touch the door or wait till someone else goes thru and rush out behind them. So after touching all these surfaces what good did washing your hands do??? After dumping my tanks I think the best thing to have is keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your truck. Since it is mostly achohol it's a good germ killer.

RE: Ways to stay cool while tent camping

Well if you only go once in awhile just go to 7/11 and buy 30 bags of ice and spread it out on the floor and put your sleeping bags on top of the ice.......Yeah it get messey after midnight but either way you stay cool lol lol....Here in Texas I have seen lots of folks use the little 5000 btu window units....Some will set it on a milk crate and wrap the tent door or a tarp around it or it may be high enough to fit in a tent window.

RE: Traveling w/ a pet, check this out

http://www.fatalpitbullattacks.com/index.php
If it is how they are raised and it is the owners fault then why so many pit bulls have so many bad owners. No it's not only how they are raised, many are family pets. There is a reason you cannot have the breed in on base housing now. Many dogs bite but most do not attack until its prey is dead. Pit breeds are like sharks they do not bite and run they attack until what ever it is attacking is dead.

RE: Weight advice please

Unless you really want a new truck you should be ok with the current one. I was towing my curent Montana and had an Alpenlite before that both weighed in at 12.5k lbs and towed them with a Dodge 2500.
All it had was Super Springs and didn't really need them.

RE: Funeral Edict?

Hmmmm I had to work for 30 years in Pa. and not once ever ever did I ever see anyone stop for a funeral, military or otherwise. I know I got a lot of what the hell are you doin stopping from friends and such when I lived there. Also I never knew any of those 40-50 military heros that I attended and honored at their funerals. The closest thing I ever saw in Pa. to what happens here in Tx. was they tied yellow ribbons to all the telephone poles between the home and the church. Some folks would get real upset because I have been to 3 processions where the whole town turned out and so many people were there to honor a hero they blocked state hwys for and hour or two till the body was brought in and taken inside the funeral home. Of course traffic was backed up for miles but never once did I hear someone blow a horn or see anyone get upset.

RE: Funeral Edict?

Uhhhh Us dumb Southerners have been showing our respect for those that have passed for years by pulling over and stopping and even getting out and standing, espcially for military processions. We don't seem to have any major problems in doing so and ain't been run over yet. It is not often a funeral procession travels on an Interstate but sometimes they do have a long way to go. Even most of us dumb Texans don't stop on an Interstate but we do show respect by not breaking into the procession line. I have been with the Patriot Guard since it started and have attended way too many funerals. When we have a procession for a hero there will be people that will come out of their ranches and homes and stand along the hwy just to salute the hero as he goes by. I have seen where these people will wait out in the Texas sun for hours because we don't know the exact time we will be passing by there area. Also something I never saw up "north". But yes, you can tell who the immigrants from the north are, they are the ones trying to get around people who stop for a funeral. Oh yeah when the light turns green the funeral procession still has the right-a-way to get thru the light. Yeah I am kinda passionate about this, we have lost respect along the way.

RE: Fan Running while Heater On

There should be a FAN switch on your thermostat, make sure it's on AUTO. If it is then the circuit board in the furnace may be shot, maybe caused by your ooops.

RE: SEWER HOSE SUPPORT

Just get one of those accordian supports...don't take a whole lota room and is cheap but it gives the hose a nice gradual slope so you don't have any back ups. Another good reason to have it up on a support is 2 weeks ago we went camping and I had bought a brand new sewer hose. This was only the 2nd time we used the hose and it was not a cheap hose either. Since the sewer pipe was downhill from the pad I just laid it on the ground, Yeah I was lazy:R. Well early one morning they had the lawn service come in and they were mowing and weed whacking. I thought at the time I sure hope they don't hit my brand new sewer hose. Well when we left on Sunday and I pulled the tank valves.....:M yep black water was shooting out everywhere. They had sliced and diced my sewer hose in about 4 places.. So in the future I will always put my sewer hose up on its support.

RE: Adventurer Warranty Problems (What to do?)

I'm not real big on lawyers but in this case with that much wrong and the time it has taken to get no where it is time to lawyer up, the sooner the better. I would be wanting a new unit shipped in if they could not repair things to brand new condition. At the very least contact Good Sams Action Line....

RE: Texas Route

Look on a map, almost any secondary road in Texas will be 4 lane. Almost all major secondary and most small secondary roads are 70 mph roadways, that should tell you the kind of roads they are. When traveling in Texas with my 5er I travel mostly on secondary roads. You get to see more of Texas and the towns you stop in are more interesting the some of the cities. Ok except San Antonio, I love S.A.,,,,don't worry about missing Austin or Little LA, not much there anymore except traffic. Just another city now trying to be like Calif. Houston is all hustle and bustle, and Dallas is now snobby. But Fort Worth just 30 miles away is still big city Texas lots of good places to eat. But if you really want to see Texas as it was, stay on the secondary roads.
