RE: Kindle Browser for Free 3G Internet Access

The 3g comes on the kindle keyboard with wifi/3g. The provider is ATT. This is not the case with thr new kindles. The 3g only links to Amazon and Wikipedia.

RE: ocean front camping in the northeast

You could try to get into Hampton Beach state park campground. The front row of campsites is on the end of the Hampton River as it hits the Ocean. You will be looking at the river and the ocean. You can also walk about two minutes Andre' you will be on the beach. Good luck, hard to get. Hampton Beach is fully booked for the entire summer at this time.

RE: Why are tablets so popular?

Recently ordered a Kindle Touch and when it arrived I sent it back. What a piece of junk with excess advertising built in. Instead bought a Samsung Galaxy 7.1" Tablet and I love it. Its primary use is as a book reader. It is backlit for day or night reading with infinite adjustment of the lighting. When we travel I can check our e mail or surf the net anywhere there is a Verizon cell signal which is darn near everywhere. It slips into the pocket of my cargo shorts no problem and holds a charge for 8 or 9 hours of use. It is also a music player, has the apps of a smart phone, a nice camera and more games with excellent graphics than I will ever get around to playing. My cell phone is small, the battery lasts a week and it makes and receives calls just fine, just don't need a $500 smart phone in my pocket when I have the Tablet. So what's not to love? :h The Kindle Touch is an e-ink reader not a tablet. It comes in an ad free version for a higher price. It's for reading not a tablet.

RE: Is there such a thing?

I used the storm window heat plastic on mine 7 years ago and it's still intact. I can see out of it, and it was easy to install. I really didn't care about taking it off, so when it wears out, I'll just replace it. It didn't add any weight to the door either. Nancy

RE: The Kindle and kindle books

One downside to a Kindle is reading while floating in the pool. They make a special bag for Kindles so you can bring your Kindle in water without fear of drowning it.

RE: Campground prohibiting electric heaters

I'm from NH and this is not an uncommon practice. Electricity is very expensive here, and alot of our parks are not that modern and updated. Alot of places charge extra for air conditioners, too. Nancy

RE: Checks only?

A few up in Northeast do because the season is short and the campgrounds don't want to pay the fees for credit card services.

RE: The Kindle and kindle books

Hi, The Kindle is not a touch screen device. Neither is it backlit, meaning it is not able to be read in the dark without a light. That being said, you can read in bright sunlight without any glare, like a book. You have a menu toggle to navigate, and typing is used for games, dictionary and such. You can keep all your books on your device or store them on the Amazon server and access them when you want. You download the whole book, not one page at a time so you never have to worry about getting only one page at a time. You need to check out the Amazon Kindle website to decide if the product is what you want so you won't be misinformed. I've had mine since Sept. and will never go back to lugging books again. Also lots of free reading material available. Nancy

I read this and went to Wallyworld and bought one for $2.98. Used it last night in the bathroom and it was still going strong this AM. Perfect for dry camping! Thanks so much! Nancy

RE: Its finally over with, but not quite.

I replaced both my washer and dryer last year; when only the washer had died. The only reason I wanted them to match is that they are in my kitchen. I donated the dryer to Families in Transistion. If the washer and dryer were in a garage or cellar, I wouldn't have cared. Nancy

RE: What to see/where to stay VT/Northern NY

You could stay at Champlain Adult Campground in South Hero, Vt. It's right on Lake Champlain and near the Ferry Crossing to NY. Not far from Burlington and very peaceful and well kept.
