RE: Pennsylvania

FYI: Stroudsburg is not in Lancaster County. However, Strasburg is.
I like the PA Grand Canyon in northern PA, especially in the fall when the leaves are in full color.
Mount Gretna PA is a small, but beautiful area. They have a lake and a "beach".
Stop at the Creamery in State College, for ice cream. (Expect to wait in line.)
Maybe check out Indian Echo Caverns.
Enjoy your days wherever you are.

RE: Oatmeal...

Gotta have the raisins stirred in when the oatmeal is done cooking. Yum! :B

RE: Need advice on selecting a camp tent

I don't know about that tent in particular.
I do know that tent makers list how many people can cram in the tent without any gear. It will hold six people in mummy style sleeping bags. We like more room than that. Our 6-8 person tent works for us 4.

RE: Ever Consider Switching From Satellite to "regular" TV?

No TV while camping. At home we cancelled our cable in December. We do miss Food Network, Discovery, PCN, History, but we felt it wasn't worth it. No matter how many channels they offer, we only watch one at a time anyway. Now we just turn it on for the news, or occasionally for a movie.

RE: A TENT you say?

Wishing you well on your trip. Ibuprofen works wonders. Using a mattress, you'll probably be fine. :Z

RE: Those darn flies !

I think there had been a post last year about using a baggy filled with water and some pennies. Hang it up to keep the flies away. I haven't taken the time to search for it. I never tried it myself.
"The Lord in his wisdom made the fly. But then forgot to tell us why! Ogden Nash." HAHAHA!

RE: Porta Potti toilet paper

Take an empty jar with a lid, fill it with water, then stick in a few sheets of your regular home toilet paper. Shake it just a little and see if it breaks up. If it doesn't (and most of the "Extra Soft" or "cushy" paper won't), we don't use it in the RV potty. If it does, it's safe.
Scott 1000 always breaks up. Just don't use huge hunks of it.

from pop-up to tent

Went camping this past weekend 45 minutes away. DH backed pop-up into spot, disconnected, leveled, started cranking. Maybe 2 turns, and BOOM, the cable snapped. So he took the camper back home, and we used a tent instead. DS prefers tent camping anyway. The next day my son knocked his head open. So much blood. :E Took him to the ER. He got 10 stitches. Then that night we had rain. I do not like tenting in the rain. It wasn't too bad though. It rained off and on all night into the morning. It wasn't a constant downpour. It was quite a weekend, but we had fun.
Anyway, DH says the pop-up is gonna go.

RE: Ah Summer

Oh the heat and humidity. Here in PA we went from a very rainy and cool "spring", to hot and humid July/early August weather. I don't like the stickies, but with how rainy it was, we were expecting to go right to summer. So thankful for A/C. :C
We went camping this past weekend. Went to pop up, and the cable broke. So we went back home and got the tent. :B
