RE: did the anti sway bar make the difference?

John, I already had Timbrens & then Stable Loads installed. The Stable Loads helped a lot by placing the weight outside the frame on the spring packs. But the anti sway bar really made the difference, even when empty. Frank

RE: spiders

In the summer here and in CO I walked around the house just an hour or so after sunset. The spiders are usually out there waiting for meals. Instead I give them a drink of Raid spider killer. That gets rid of the black widows for most of the year. But I do the walk around every month to be sure. The flashlight I use lights them up like they were waiting for me. Frank

did the anti sway bar make the difference?

Last Thursday I took my TC from Las Vegas to CO for the weekend. The wind was howling most of the way there and back on Monday. When I went over the bridge from NV to AZ it had high wind warnings and I went anyway. I know that last time out the TC swayed a little but I had hopes that the Helwig anti sway bar would help. Well it not only helped, it made the ride a whole different experience. There was no sway to speak of and when I was passed or I passed a large truck, the TC was firm and had no tendency to sway or wander. That stability made the trip there and back easy and I felt comfortable driving even as the winds were gusting the whole time. The few times I felt the winds gusts I also felt that I was in total control of the vehicle. I am not advocating the brand of anti sway bar but I am advocating that if you don't have one, you really need to get one. It is well worth the dollar cost in driving ease and feeling of stability while driving. Frank

RE: Buying 5th camper from Camping world?

Quote: The CEO is on this Forum to contact and will take action if necessary. I wish I had that "luxury" when I owned my NEW 2000 DP MH. The thing was brand new and falling apart before I even used it the first time. Hidden damages caused by workers during a contract dispute sabotaged the whole unit. Literally 39 cases of trouble that were documented!! And I have talked to many who experienced the same thing as I did with that model year. When I wanted to talk to the sales people and/or the company management, they refused. My wife was totally terrified to travel in it and refused after the second year. It sat and I finally dumped it after three years a and "took a bath" to get rid of it. Purchase and dumping money costs actually were 1/2 of the total price of the unit. Here at least the company CEO is available for discussion. That makes buying at CW a plus as far as I can see. Frank moved from 5th wheels to CW RV sales.

RE: What do you use for rear door awning?? Pics??

Mine is this type: http://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/carefree/products?action=product&productid=40&categoryid=46 It can be adjusted for height and also for the angle from the wall. It is a manually cranked out model. I will have to look at it and see what the model number is. Frank

RE: What do you use for rear door awning?? Pics??

I don't have any pics of the rear awning when out but it is a crank out that is fully supported at the mounting over the door. I will try to remember to take a pic and post it. It is a full cantilever awning. Frank

RE: 1995 Coachmen Catalina 285rk

Coachmen 5th wheels are not lightweights. I do not think that F-150 is an appropriate towing vehicle for that one. I also think that any 5er over 25 feet long it too much for that truck. A 1/2T is not a serious towing truck, in my opinion. Good luck at at rate. Frank

RE: Going from Colorado Springs to Los Vegas

I have been thru them all and the trip north on I-25 to the western bypass then to I-70 is fast and save about 30 miles as opposed to going I-25 to I-70 directly. Going over the passes is pretty and very mountainous. Las Vegas, NM is not assumed because unless a distinction is made, most assume Las Vegas, NV as the destination. May not be fair but when 40 million visitors come here each year, please forgive us for assuming as we do. :) Frank
