Any Winegard Carry out Owners out there?

After researching the topic and tired out fighting the dish pointing fiasco, we have decided to purchase the Winegard Carryout GM1518. Might get the ladder mount also and semi permanently mount the Dish/Dome. Has anyone done this. Trying to figure out if I should just zip tie a 6ft pc of coax to use as pigtail and splice into that to run to satellite ready outlet in command center. What about the DC converter as well. Thanks in advance. Steve

RE: DISH--Feeding two TVs

We have a 322 duo receiver in living room. One wire coming into camper thru satellite prep outlet to tv one on receiver. Ran a jumper coax from tv 2 output on receiver to the cable outlet behind TV to back-feed to the bedroom. Works great. We have a dish 500. Steve

RE: Winegard Carry out 1518 question

I can probably aim my dish 500 in the time it would take me to do this...and a lot cheaper too.

RE: Winegard Carry out 1518 question

Got a message a few hours ago on my question about using the 2-211 receivers. Here was her reply:
Yes, you can use 2 separate VIP211 receivers, but you will need to set them up as follows. Hook up one of the VIP211 receivers to the coax that is coming in from the Main Port on the GM-1518, also hook that VIP211 receiver to which ever TV is going to be your Primary TV and receiver location. Next, let the GM-1518 lock on the 119 signal, keeping in mind that it may adjust itself in and out of signal up to 3 tmes. Wait until the 3rd and final signal lock, then go into the "check switch" screen of that VIP211 receiver and run the "test" so it will install the SW64 switch, and the information for all 3 satellites for Dish Network. Once this is done, cancel out back to where it has the message, "Attention" Acquiring Satellite Signal" and let that 211 receiver go through its download. Next, move that receiver to the Second TV location, and hook up the satellite coax to it and hook it up to your Second TV.
Do your second 211 receiver set up the same way you did your first 211 receiver set up, except that second receiver is going to stay in the Primary location. Once everything is downloaded, if the VIP211 receivers need to be activated, then you can do that at this point. If they are already activated, you should be receiving programming on both receivers. The important thing to remember is the 211 receiver that you are using with the Second TV, needed to have the same information in it as the Primary receiver that is being used with the living room TV.
Also remember that if the living room 211 receiver is being used as the Primary receiver, it is going to control the toggling option for the GM-1518 system, and if you are watching a station on the 119, 110 or 129 satellite on the Primary receiver, on the Secondary receiver, you will be able to watch any other station on that same satellite, but will not be able to watch a station on a different satellite.

Winegard Carry out 1518 question

Was told yesterday by a tech that It was recommended to NOT use my Dish Duo 322 receiver as the receiver of choice for the 1518 because I would have to run 2 coaxs directly from Winegard to receiver. Question is... Can I put a ViP211HD in my living room and 1 ViP211HD in my bedroom?

Camp Stove Replacement

My "BIG GASS GRILL" by Camp Chef has served me well for 4+yrs. with a lot of extra duty. Notice about 3 months ago it was time for a new grill box. This weekend while cleaning the stove component, I noticed severe rusting of the frame work. Would like to buy a new one but would really like to downsize "just a bit". Any ideas of what's out there that one can cook on the burners as well as converting the burners to a grill. Thanks in advance for your replies. Steve

RE: Fried Pies

Gosh, it must really be boring living north of the Mason Dixon Line. Who the heck has never heard of fried pies? One word....HUBIG PIES, New Orleans own. Coconut, chocolate, peach, apple, lemon, sweet potato, pineapple and who knows what other kind. They were featured on "unwrapped" on the Food Network several months ago. hubigs.com

RE: A/C refrigerator?

Looking to get away from the traditional rv absorption fridge. Bighorn 3670 will be a year old this week and I am on my 3rd....yes 3rd Dometic RM1350 and still not working. Heartland says its a fridge problem. Dealer techs say its an install problem. Unit worked good on shop floor before install and old one worked good on floor after removing from slide-out(as directed by Dometic) I am finding out that large refers tend to have problems when in slide-outs. My particular unit comes with a 9cf refer with a slide out pantry next to it with an option to upgrade to a 13/14cf side-by-side w/o the pantry which is what I have. We would rather have had the smaller model that works rather than the SUPERSIZE HOTBOX we have. I purchased my unit off the lot which has every option available including genny prep. We decided against the genny since we NEVER dry camp. NOW YOU KNOW THE RRREST OF THE STORY!!

RE: A/C refrigerator?

Looked at refers with the Danfoss compressor and they say they will deliver temps up to 50 degree below ambient temp. This might work in Canada but not here in the deep south where ambients stay in the mid/upper 90's for 4-5 months per year.Hi,
I think you mean an inverter, rather than a converter.
I would look at one of the models that has a 12 volt danfoss compressor.

RE: A/C refrigerator?

I only have 1-12v battery in 5ver and 2 in my GMC. No Genny. Steve
If I decide to install a counter depth A/C refer in my 5ver, can I run it with an inverter between tow vehicle battery and refer? Thanks in advance for your replies. Steve
What is your 12V capacity, and do you have a genny? Also, check the amp rating on your alternator. You'll need to run fat wires to the inverter, too.
A fridge is pretty low draw, just check that it vibes with that same alternator that is charging your 5ver batteries at the same time...if your 5ver batts are low, that draw could be higher than the alternator can output, and you would need to switch to genny to power the fridge.
Cheers!

RE: Replace frig. with compressor fridge???

Which model Whirlpool did you purchase? I have a Dometic RM1350 4 door and it sucks. 5ver is one year old this week and am on my 3rd refer and still junk.Whirlpool has a good match for your four door Norcold. I just put one in my rig and it was the exact width and depth, and just an inch and a half taller. Trimmed the top of the cabinet and it was an exact fit. Didn't need any trim pieces along the sides, looks just like a factory job. Refer cost less than $600 at Lowes. Had to remove the doors to get it in, no biggie! If you have questions, you can contact me.

Rig/Truck weighing procedure.

Wanting to weigh my rig and truck. What is the correct process in weighing? I thought of weighing the truck alone, then the truck with the 5ver attached but not on scale and then the complete rig. Is this the correct process or do I need to weigh each axle on truck and trailer in conjunction with my original process. Thanks in advance for the replies. Steve A. Dagro
