RE: plastic rear window magnifier

I have had three of these and have never had a problem with them getting loose. I replaced mine because they started to yellow.
Just a thought...there is a smooth side and a rough side, the smooth side goes toward the glass.
Maybe someone else will have a solution.

RE: Sleep Number Beds Versus Memory Foam

Had both. Got rid of the Sleep Number.
It is not for everybody but some people love it.

RE: Allegro 35QBA Bedroom / Bunk Speakers

Those speakers are for the in-dash stereo. Adjust the front/rear speaker control through the stereo.
TV uses its built-in speaker.

RE: Decided on new Brakes...

A critical technical point here.
Brake pads are among the most closely held secrets in the business.
Every maker use their own unique blend of material, binders, etc. to create a friction pad that may sound the same (e.g. ceramic, carbon-metallic, etc.) but are in fact, quite different performing.
Whats more, pads also perform different with different rotor materials, and under combinations of heat, humidity, etc.
Just because Pad set 1 is "ceramic" does not mean it will work like Pad set 2 of "ceramic".
The devil is always in the details, and often, only way to really be sure is to run controlled experiments with the pad / rotor combination you want under actual use conditions.
Note that a pad that performs great new (broken in --- let Ben describe procedure and scientific reasons), may have quite different characteristics as it wears -- and be a shadow of itself after it is 75% worn even though it technically still have a lot of life left.
Ditto for rotors, whose characteristics also change when it gets worn.
This is a very good point.
After going through factory pads in 23,000 miles on a one-ton truck my shop suggested ceramic pads. They recommended these because local ambulances were using them. Unfortunately, I still only got about 20,000 miles before they were in need of replacement.
Sold the truck at 50,000 miles. I now drive a 3/4 Chevy D/A with 97,000 on the original brakes. Not sure what is different but I am not complaining.

RE: Why do dogs bury bones??

One of mine does the same thing but he never seems to remember where he buries it. Then he tries to take one away from the other two dogs.

RE: Releasing the Magnets on my Breakaway Switch

Push harder, it will go in. Those are not magnets, they are part of the connection that holds them in.

RE: Brake controller question - UPDATE

On my brand new 5th wheel the brakes failed after the second trip.
Found that the brake wires at the axle were held together (very poorly) with the twist-on wire nuts.
Fixed that and no more problems.
Track down some of the connections. Let us know what you find.

RE: Debit Card and ATM Fees at Bank of America

With in 2 months there will not be a bank not charging it
Other banks are already responding. Some that do not charge will be getting B of A clients.
Credit unions are already a better alternative and will continue to be.

RE: Debit Card and ATM Fees at Bank of America

I guess I'm the only one here that's never used an ATM in my life, and don't plan to. No need to, as I see it.
Not talking just about ATMs. Bank of America is going to charge for using Debit cards. $5.00 per month for each month used.

RE: King Pin Stabilizer

I bought one for my 5th wheel for the same reason. I never could tell that much difference.
What helped the most were the wheel chocks that go between the two tires.
I made my own but there are good ones on the market.

RE: First Class A purchase

There are some recalls on Workhorse but they are easy to verify. The big ones are the fuel rail clip and the brakes. Fuel rail clip is $4 and is an easy DIY repair. The brake recall is to replace all 4 brake calipers at no charge. These only apply to certain models.
The Allison transmission is great.
The biggest piece of advise is to test drive some of these units as there are some big differences in ride quality and handling. Also, some of the entry-level units are very noisy.
Good luck in your search and let us know what you find.
Justin, I sent you a PM.

RE: Water Pressure Without Pump?

My freshwater fill on my motorhome has a valve to go from city water to tank fill. It also has a regular fill port on the side wall where you could fill it with a hose. Incorporated into the fill port is a small vent. (about the diameter of a pencil)
If yours has this type of vent it could be plugged or the line may be kinked.
I had this happen on a 5th-wheel. Water kept spewing out while I was filling. Fortunately, I was able to access the line from inside.

RE: Water Pressure Without Pump?

My motorcoach has two separate switches. One at the main panel and one in the bathroom.
Is it possible that you have another switch somewhere? Can you hear the pump running?
If not, then your fresh water tank is not venting properly and you have pressure buildup in the tank.
Billj999 is also correct. An accumulator tank will let water run for a while.

RE: Moving from gas to diesel TV: What will be different?

I agree with all the good things said about owning and driving a diesel.
My only complaint is that there are not enough diesel pumps at most fuel stops. It seems that every time I stop to refuel there is a gasser parked at the only diesel pump.
Maybe just my luck...I also seem to get in the slowest line at the supermarket:h

RE: More Scammers than Buyers

Thanks for all the replies. The Craigslist ad is a blind e-mail but when I respond they will have my real e-mail. I think I am going to get a free disposable e-mail address next.
I see that I am not the only one that has had this problem. I wish people would just get real jobs instead of scamming others.

RE: More Scammers than Buyers

Jay Pat - The scammers are by e-mail only. Some even sound legitimate by asking questions and requesting more pictures.
Dalmationlovers - Yes, we do have "No Brokers or Dealers" in the ad. Does not seem to help. They call and e-mail.
It is just a nuisance. Was just wondering if others had the same issue.

More Scammers than Buyers

I listed my motorhome for sale on Craigslist. Now I am getting lots of obvious scam e-mails (and some that are not so obvious at first).
I have also had over a dozen "Brokers" wanting to sell it for me.
I have sold lots of other stuff and have never had this many buzzards:(.
Is this normal? Any way of weeding out non-buyers?

RE: Things I wish I had never bought for my RV

A second (or third) on the tripod.
Also, the 50amp "cheater" plug. It trips GFCIs. Which means it trips breakers everywhere.
