RE: How to judge how much to "gear down " on mountain roads

Joe,
Here is what I have taught commercial & RV drivers for many years. As you start down a hill downshift one gear, if your speed increases five miles an hour in less then five seconds, use the brakes "firmly" to slow enough to go to the next lower gear. repeat these steps as low as you need to. Make sure you do not "ride" the brakes, just hit them enough to slow you down to a shift point and then take your foot all the way off. This way you should not heat up the brakes and be able to stay safely in control.

RE: Tire Monitor Kit

They ship the same day the order is placed, by USPS usually but you can spcify another carrier if you prefer. Just call Dan, Matt or Abby by phone, they will usually answer in person.

RE: Dometic Ref. ice maker

I have replaced mine and it wasn't too difficult. We used a plastic milk crate to slide it out enough to get to the top fitting, then just slid it back in place and connected the outside back connections. The trick for me was having two people, one inside and one outside.

RE: TPMS

I also traded in my 510 system for a 507 with replacable batteries. Since I installed the new system about 6 months ago, I have had zero problems with it. The old 510 system did save me when I had a caliper hang up on the motor home. The pressure never dropped but I did get a hi temp warning and was able to stop before any damage was done. didn't have burnt pads, melted parts or any sign of damage. Also You just cannot beat TST's customer service!

RE: TST Tire Pressure Monitor system, Great Company

I too had a 510 system that I had problems with. TST worked with me on every problem and finally Dan Covington asked me if I would accept a 507 system to replace my older system. I did and have had ZERO problems since. I don't know of too many other company's (other then Fantastic Fan) that have that kind of Customer Service! The two other folks I had conversations with (Abby & Matt) were just as obliging as Dan was also. Great company and a really good product.

RE: Which TPMS to buy?

Another vote for TST. I had a 510 system for four years and had some problems with it. TST always answered with new parts every time. The last time they switched my whole system out for the 507 system and have not had one problem since. Dan Covington will always do what it takes to keep a customer happy. Great product and SUPER great service!!

RE: To TPMS, or not to TPMS

Everyone has their opinions as to which one is best. I've had and used two, both from Truck System Technologies...TST. My first was the 510 system that I liked very well. However, the wheel sensors cracked after three years and began to disintegrate. A call to TST solved that problem as they offered to buy the system back and upgrade me to their latest system, the 507. The biggest difference is the 507 has a smaller, easier to read monitor and the batteries in the wheel sensors are user changeable. The 510 system is a very good, reliable system, on sale now for $299 for the 6 sensor system, but I like the convenience of being able to change the sensor batteries and the size of the monitor on the 507. Being full timers, our system is on 24/7 so the batteries only last about 1 1/2 yrs....regardless of which system you choose, IMHO, no coach should be without one..oh, I do use the repeater as I have the sensors on the toad as well and we are 65' long.....hope this helps....Dennis
This post could have been written by me word for word! I have had the exact same experience with TST. I had a 510 system that I had a lot of problems with and TST actually sent me the newer 507 system in an exchange and it has worked great since then. I highly recommend their system and their customer service!!

RE: Blue Ox "Aladdin" tow bar, a bit difficult to disconnect

supercub has it right. If the pins stick, just start the car and turn the front wheels one way or the other and the pins will lossen right up every time.

RE: Changing old swivel chair for recliner????

I have done exactly that! I just bought a small wallhugger swivel recliner form a regular furniture store. It even has a round "hoop" base so it will lock down just like the original one. Just check around and make sure you have the measurements with you (Hight & width).

RE: Fleetwood Bounder

I started with a 1992 34'S model Bounder with a 454 and went to a 1999 35' D Model Bounder with a ford V10, now have a 2003 36' Bounder with a 8.1L Workhorse. I loved the 92, but after a couple of years got tired of the chassis problems on the Ford and fell in love with the 03 floor plan. Have had a few problems with the 03 but nothing major to speak of and still love the coach. It will probably be our last one since we are getting old enough to know we are getting closer to "hanging up the keys" in a few years.

RE: Coleman AC stats Ain’t Doing So Good this year!

Hi,
The old R-22 units use a lower pressure freon, while running it is about 70 PSI suction pressure, and about 225 PSI high side pressure. The new R-410A freon is about 125 PSI suction pressure and 400 PSI on the high side.
The reason they use a lot less power is it pumps less freon for a given amount of cooling capacity.
Fred.
So if I have to get a new unit will it cool better or worse then the old one?

Have friend with a 98 Pace arrow that has a jack leaking and he can't find the res. cannister. Anyone know where it is located? he says it is not behind the left front wheel or in front of the radiator.

RE: Rumor..1000 trails will be trailer parks in 5 yrs

It would not surprise me but it is depressing. Even worse is where they have started to sell out to KOA and are taking all of the best areas of a park away from the members use as they have done at Little Diamond resort in WA. 75% of the park is for KOA use only. All new 50 amp hook ups for those sites but the TTN sites are still only 30 amp and rusty water pipes. Anyone want to buy my membership?
