RE: never seen on forum before

When we had that kind of system, we put a cup of bleach into the hose then connected it and turned it on. The bleach is forced into the tank.

RE: length rules ?

When you leave, understand that you are not going to meet the length requirements in some areas and are subject to being stopped and ticketed. If you are willing to risk it, go for it. Apparently many are doing it and getting away with it. Knowing us, we would get stopped in every State LOL. California is looking for every dime they can get, so don't assume you would get away there.
We were stopped for crossing over the white line in California on the right side of the highway. DH was trying to miss one of their volcano size potholes and was pulled over. A $350. ticket. We fought it but since we did in fact cross over that white line on the highway we were found guilty.
We have talked to many RVrs that have been stopped for not having secondary brakes on their toad with a breakaway "braking wire" connected. No one ever used to be stopped for that offense.
States are looking for money in every place they can get it. So drive illegally at your own risk.

RE: Winter travel

We don't unwinterize until we are out of any freezing temps. Just carry gallons of water and use RV parks that have bath houses. It is tough enough trying to keep everything flowing when you are stopped in below freezing temps, almost impossible if you are moving.

RE: Used MH with TV back in living room?

You might want to check for motor homes that have what they call a buffet. These buffets are opposite the couch and the TV sits over it. Try the Winnebago models and enter buffet. The TV is definitely in the right spot in those models.

RE: Additional charge for electricity

We have found many signs inside when you check in that states that a specific charge for AC will be charged, or that if you have 50 amp, another charge will be added, and that if you use an electric heater you will be charged. No notices anywhere but inside by where you check in. We have stayed at 2 parks that had a sign that added $3.00 per day for 30 amp and $5.00 for 50 amp service with no advance warning other than a sign at check in and 2 parks that read a meter with no advance notice other than at check in with a sign.
I think the parks are trying to recoup some of their electrical costs without trying to advertise it or raise their rates. I talked to one park owner that said that to update his parks electrical to meet the new rigs needs, was just about enough to make him shut down the park.

RE: 2010 and 2011 Winnebago Vista 30W Owners

Hwy 154 - the shortcut is what we use to call it. A Beautiful drive, especially on a motorcycle. Ron's parents lived on the coast and we would go from their house over and back 154 to southern LA to Ron's brothers at least 2 to 3 times a year. Not many places in California we haven't been.
We still love the 33c. The double fridge and freezer of which I didn't think would be that big of a deal is my absolute upgrade that I would not give up ever. I have no idea how I got everything in the single before LOL. There are other things that we absolutely love. Most everything really isn't any different from the 30W, just a little bigger.
Enjoy California. We have no family left in California now, so our reasons to go back there are not many other than the coastal areas where you are.

RE: 2010 and 2011 Winnebago Vista 30W Owners

Sounds like everyone has really been busy. We are in Savannah at this moment. Spent 2 months roaming Florida. We were in Pensacola 3 weeks(Floridafrancis) didn't realize until today that you live there. We could have hooked up. then we went to Orlando for 3 weeks then off to St. Augustine and now Savannah. Weather has been just great. Still love the Sightseer and have not had one issue. If weather holds, we may go a little further North before heading back across to home. We haven't done anything else to the Sightseer. Still don't have any place to put dirty clothes LOL.
Everyone have safe travels.

RE: Re-allocating Closet Space

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r1/rondebmalone/DSCF2188.jpg
We bought this shelf system at Lowes Hardware. We bought an 8' piece of wire shelving and had them cut it into 2' lengths. The rear supports go from the floor of the closet to the top and hook into a cross piece that goes across the top. Screw the top piece (try to find one stud at least) (we also used Industrial strength velcro the entire width of the cross piece and the up and down supports plus screwed them into the wall. You can put the little tips on the ends of the shelves so they don't scratch you.
We have used this system for every closet we have had in every RV.

RE: 2010 and 2011 Winnebago Vista 30W Owners

We've been doing a lot of work on our 2011 W30, but I've been guilty of not posting as we upgraded. Here is what we've done.
1. I installed Shurflo's 24 oz. pressure tank. It has really cut down the "on/off" cycles of the pump. It also seems to have quieted the pump.
2. Installed the Dirt Devil Central Vacuum. Installed unit in the rear compartment, and the inlet at the end of the bed.
3. Installed HatchLift kits on outside compartment doors.
4. Installed pull out shelves in pantry. We decided to go with side mounted "full extension" drawer slides. This cuts down on the width of the drawers, but we added a third drawer in the bottom section. I built the drawers with 3" sides.
5. Extended the bed to full queen size by adding 5" of foam between the matress and the head of the bed. The matress pad goes over the matress and the foam to hold both together (this method was described by someone earlier in this forum). I added 5" to the lift section of the bed at the hinge. We removed the factory headboard and replaced it with a large photo we took in Alaska in 2010. This gained us 2" of room.
6. Added a "Laundry Basket Drawer" beneath the 2 drawers under the bedroom closet. We used "full extension drawer slides" to allow the removal of the laundry basket.
7. Installed 12 volt lights in each of the outside compartments. I wired them in line with the water/electric and sewer compartments so they are under control of the Master Compartment Switch.
Wow You have been busy. All very good ideas.

RE: Would you Wax your RV?

I am assuming you and I COULD Wash and Wax, but I DO NOT. I pay someone to wash it as we travel as it needs it and I pay to have it waxed twice a year. Usually 3 or 4 guys show up and they are done in a couple hours. Young, strong, agile men, of which you can no longer apply any of those names to me. LOL

RE: Nuevo Progreso Mexico best deals

When you pull into a parking spot on the main drag, you will have a guy guide you to a spot. Pay him $2.00 and your car will not be touched by anyone.

RE: How many leveling blocks?

A little off topic, buti very close.
How many inches would you consider raising the front of a Motorhome to get level with the rear. My sisters driveway is angled and we have recently purchased a longer RV which will be more of a problem if we park in her drive. There is absolutely no RV park within 25 miles of her, so it is nice to be able to park there. We raised our last RV about 10 inches using 3 sets of the legos and still just barely level enough to run the Fridge (It was debatable whether we were cooling that well) so being longer we would need to go up in the front at least 2 feet. Would any of you go that far? I can buy all the legos I would need and just leave them at her house.
Thanks

RE: Need renovations for our RV in Florida

Probably too far from you, but sometimes one never knows. You might have friends or relatives here.
We speak from experience and Truline Custom RV in Spokane Washington does beautiful work. Repairs, upgrades, re-design. If you can imagine it, he can do it.
Wonderful people to deal with also.

RE: Am I the only husband who does most of the driving?

I do all the towing while the DW sleeps ! She cannot stay awake even going thru LA traffic
Same here. DH prefers to do all the driving and I definitely prefer it that way. I could drive the unit if needed, but it just hasn't every become a need. We only drive about 200 - 250 miles a day, so no problem for DH to handle it all.

RE: cougar 24RLS query

Just sold our 2005 294RLS. Granted it had only been used 5 times and stored inside, but it was perfect. We never had even the slightest issue with it. It was a very nice TT. You will love it. (We just made the decision 3 years ago to go with a Motor Home) so finally sold the TT this past summer.

RE: Anyone ever use a cheater box?

Power Grabber
We use this often. We carry lots of adapters, 15 to 30, 30 to 50 etc., so we can set up to whatever we run into. Works great if we are at a house in the driveway visiting.
There are all kind of power grabbers for up to 45. I don't know of any that can get you 50, but 45 should run both your AC's
I had a cheater box and never found a campground that it would work at due to GFI protected plugs. I am interested if the "power grabber" works differently and will work even if the plug"s are GFI protected?
Adam
We use this at my sisters all the time and we are connecting to outside outlets which for sure are GFI
