RE: Anyone loading a small car in their haulers???

nope. I just flipped the lower bed brackets which raised it up enough to get the jeep under. The jeep is on 42in iroks and full width axles so it's pretty big.
The only downside is when the lower bed is down and you want to use the sofa function, it's a little high off the ground. Flipping the brackets netted about 4 inches of additional clearance.
The nice thing about the 382 is that you can pull all the way up so that the front tires of the jeep are centered over the middle axle of the hauler. This made the difference with keeping enough pin weight on the hitch. Jeeps are front heavy anyways. My buddies puts his early bronco on 38s in his 382 and it works well for him.

RE: Anyone loading a small car in their haulers???

I have put mu CJ-7 in my Fuzion. It's a 382 with no isolated garage so the 16ft of garage space makes it easy. The ramp door handles it just fine.

RE: To Buy Fuzion Toy Hauler?

We have been really enjoying our 2008 382. Great floor plan for hauling big toys.
As much as we love it, we will be moving on to a Class A DP as soon as the 382 sells.

RE: Moab: Camping near Hell's Revenge?

I *heard* you could drive side by sides through moab (on the side streets to get to Hells Revenge, but they had to be plated. I would certainly check with law enforcement before doing this though. A call to the police station should answer this question. If it's a week where there is not a big automotive event, the police are pretty lax and will let things slide. This is not the case, however during EJS.
We have stayed at Canyonlands and they can easily handle our 40ft toy hauler. We really like it there. Of course, we don't haul toys, we haul plated jeeps inside the toy haulers so the atv thing isn't an issue for us.

RE: Scales Today.....

We're leaving for our first major trip tomorrow, so things are really loaded up. Figured I would me the trip and see if anything needs to be moved around.
Front Axle: 5720
Rear Axle: 7980
Trailer Axle: 6840
Trailer Axle: 6660
Total: 27200
A little more than expected. I even left one bike out and one of the fuel tanks empty this trip! 20 more gals fuel and another 400lbs for the bike.....the trailer axles will likely be over.
Still gotta load the generator, chain saw, spare propane tank, and a few other goodies in. Trucks fuel tank was only half as well.
How do the 2500 guys do this without spontaneously exploding into a fireball killing 100's on the freeway?;)
we do just fine.

RE: Think your Allison is "bullet-proof"?

transmission and/or clutch failures are part and parcel to high power diesel motors and heavy weight. While the previous owner might be claiming to have treated the truck well, it would only take a few hot rod runs with the tuner cranked up to do some significant damage that wouldn't show up until later on.
Always be careful when buying a truck that is chipped/tuned/boxed.

RE: 2009 Fuzion 403 TE Cargo Carrying Capacity - low???

Fusion never used anything under 6k axles.
Mav
The early 2008s used 5200lb 6 lug axles. They switched to 6000lb 8 lug axles close to the end of the production run in 2008 and then went to 7000lb axles for 2009.
My late year 2008 382 has 6000lb axles and the GVW sticker reads 16,500lbs.

RE: Raptor 297SE for Dodge 2500 CTD 4x4

OP, you will be fine with that combo as long as you upgrade the OEM tires on your truck. Hankook makes a 285 series tire with a 3800 lb load capacity that will give you a nice margin of safety. The rest of the truck is good to go.

RE: 2003 dodge 2500

My '03 wanders a bit too. There's a fair amount of steering wheel play. I have diagnosed the issue to be a combination of a loose steering box (it's original to the truck with 135k miles on it) and the steering column joint is a little loose.
It all adds up and makes for a truck that you have to 'heard' down the road.

RE: 40 ft 5th wheel turning radius

My truck is a short bed quad cab dodge. I use a Reese round tube slider hitch (12 inches of sliding travel). I pull a 40ft Fuzion.
We live at the end of a cul de sac. I cannot drive in and swing around without sliding the hitch. I tried it once and put a small dent in the cab of the truck.
Now I simply pull forward of my street, and then back the fuzion the whole way down to our house. No hitch sliding, and there's not any traffic (if there is, it's usually the neighbors and they wait).
I have done it so many times now I have no fear of backing this thing up anymore.

RE: Costco 6v golf cart batteries

I did this conversion back in '05. But we got ours from Sam's Club. Now we also have a 12v for back up and another 12v for emergency gen start.
it's the only way to go. With Led lights , we always have plenty of power.
how are you keeping your gen-start battery charged? do you have it isolated from the house batteries?
I was thinking of getting a small trickle charger to permanently wire in to keep the gen-start battery charged and wire it so that it activates when plugged into shore power, or when the genny is running.

RE: pros and cons of 2003 dodge cummins?

I have an '03 HO (305/555) with the NV 5600 6spd and use it to pull my 40ft Fuzion.
It does a great job with the available power and gearing. It's also easy to work on and so far, I haven't had any major issues. I am at 130k miles.
When I am not pulling and I keep my foot out of it, I have gotten up to 24 mpg. I usually get about 21mpg not towing and about 11-13 towing.

RE: Fresh tank full during travel - Fuzion says no?

Same here. We role with full fresh water (140 gallons) and full fuel tank. It's ludicrous to think you can't fill your storage tanks and tow to your dry camp spot! What would be the point then?

RE: Generator Exhaust

I dis this on my fuzion. I simply loosened the clamp that keeps the pipe attached to the exhaust manifold and spun it 180 degrees so that the pipe now points out to the left side. Refit the hangers and make sure the propane line isn't too close. I wrapped mine in some adhesive backed fiberglass mat.

RE: Costco 6v golf cart batteries

I had the heater set to kick on at 62f so it would cycle on and off through the night. We are also supplying 12v power to the fridge and the hot water heater, and also the information center. I am sure there are some other phantom power draws but that's pretty much it. I usually cut power to the water pump unless we are using it for showers and such, but you can include it as being another power draw.
We are heading up to Echo Lake next weekend for another 2 night dry camp stay so I will have another opportunity to test them out. The camper will be plugged into shore power overnight on Thursday before we go so that the batteries are fully charged before heading out.

Are these Costco 6V batteries limited to certain areas or certain stores...cant find anything about them on the Costco web site?
I had to call the stoves in my area to find one that carries them.

RE: Exhaust brakes

I have really enjoyed this thread although a lot of it is over my head. I'm just not very mechanically minded and besides probably just a little old to have the desire to keep informed on all these subjects I find in the forum. Nevertheless, I have a question or two I would appreciate you guys helping me with.
I have an 08 Duramax 3500 and was wondering if I can have an Exhaust Brake installed on this truck and would it have an affect on my warranty? I pull a larger fifth wheel and figure it would be nice to have when towing in the mountains. I have tow-haul but sounds like this brake would be a big improvement.
Also does the 2011 GMC Duramax come from the factorty with this brake installed? My 08 only has 27K on it but I would consider selling it and getting a new one.
Thanks for any info you guys can help me with.
The exhaust brake is not separate, the turbo itself is used to do the braking with adjustable veins/nozzles. Your turbo is capable of doing it but requires aftermarket tuning and a voided powertrain warranty.
You can add an after market brake like Pac-brake.
It does not require a voided warrenty..
BS! Touch the programming on a 08 say goodbye to your powertrain warranty. You are a fool if you don't think they know when any aftermarket programming is added to a 07.5+ GM.
Unless it's proven that a change to the programming specifically caused a failure, then the manufacturer cannot void the warranty. The Moss-Magnuson act makes this illegal. This applies to any vehicle regardless of make.

RE: Costco 6v golf cart batteries

What do you mean by switching power supply? WFCO says the unit I have is a 3 stage. They are pretty much all switching power supplies now as opposed to the older ferroresonant (sp) supply.
And yes WFCO has three voltage modes including 14.4 boost, 13.6 normal, and 13.2 float.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switching_power_supply
http://www.wfcoelectronics.com/
I understand now - sort of like a DCC (delta current) used in automotive electric cooling fan controllers. By cycling the power switch on and off rapidly, one can control current with little to no heat being created because there are no resistors and it has a high amp capacity.
Thanks!

RE: Costco 6v golf cart batteries

I just love it. another comparison of 2 12 volters against 4 6 volters. yep, the 4-6 volters out perform them, D'oh. having two year old 12 volters, it would have made sense to me to just add 2 more 12 volters and you are set for 4-5 years then you can replace them all with 6 volters if desired.
bumpy
Buying two more 12v batteries didnt make sense because the originals were pretty much shot.

RE: Costco 6v golf cart batteries

I have the WFCO 75 amp charger/converter that came stock on the fuzion. I am worried it's not going to be enough to keep these batts charged..... Any recommendations?
No worries there, it will keep them charged after you are plugged in, but may take long run times of the generator to them top off.
The WFCO web site lacks any serious specs on the equipment, but the light shipping weight of the unit indicates it is just a switching power supply.
