RE: last minute camping trip on Memorial day

the mississippi palisades state park in savanna il is a wonderful place. you might give them a call at (815) 273-2731. AFAIK they no longer take reservations so everything is a first come... of course i've seen people park their trailer on a site on monday so they have a spot. that's against the rules but enforcement may be lax due to staffing shortages. good luck.

RE: Selecting Resort

do you want city or desert? activities or can you entertain yourselves? we spend a month every spring at the Mesa Spirit RV Resort. spaces are pretty close but it's convenient to the ballparks and everything else in the mesa/apache junction area. monthly rent is in the area of $550 plus electric. wifi and cable are provided by TengoInternet and Able Cable. each runs about $1/day. staff is good and as long as you're not performing human sacrifices or dancing naked during a full moon they pretty much leave you alone.

RE: Water Hose

we always use the white hose. forgot one time when we were newbies 25-yrs ago and had a tank full of rubbery-water-hose tasting water.

RE: Why did tire blow

tires blow because... - they are over-inflated - they are under-inflated - there were/are defects from the mfg process - they are the wrong tire for the application - road hazards - old age take yer pick

RE: Certificate Of Origin - weight

if you want to *know* how much your trailer weighs empty then empty it and take it to a certified scale. it's the only way to be certain.

RE: Ran Out Of Propane Already?

one of three things are true... - your tank wasn't filled as you requested - you have an LP leak - your furnace was running a lot more than you thought my money is on #1.

RE: How to research the tiny city/county campgrounds

Hubby and I are going nearly 4 hours away for Memorial Day. After working all day Friday, we're contemplating driving halfway and finding a small city or county campground for one night, finish the drive in the a.m. We have two small restless kids, so this halfway plan would do well. Problem is, how do we find these little campgrounds? Are there central listings somewhere? We have noticed little city parks with two RV sites, but never really paid attention since we didn't have an RV. Help a newbie out. :W google is your besft friend in cases like this: Google Search for PUBLIC CAMPGROUNDS and this is a good reference site for public campgrounds: The Ultimate US Public Campgrounds Project finally, try searching google for state specific parks and campgrounds such as 'Minnesota Public Campgrounds', 'Wisconsin Public Campgrounds', etc. good luck and enjoy your time away.

RE: Storage options

we're paying $100 p/m for outdoor gated/fenced/24 hr access storage. no dump station, no wash area, no elec hookup, no on-site security. we've been there for at least a decade with no problems. it would be nice if there were electricity and a dump station.

RE: Tow Lights: Diodes vs. Bulbs

what are the symptoms when the diodes fail? Thanks, Rick no lights on the toad. happened to us in south dakota. even if it's not the path of least resistance adding bulbs is the best way to go. much more bullet proof.

RE: Door Knob

I've got an older (1996) Winnebago. The bathroom door knob is getting worn and sticking, hard to open etc. I tried to match something at Lowes but a stick built house is obviously different. Any one have an idea where I can get a repacement? Thanks Gordon Colaw RV Salvage or Lichtsinn Motors. Lichtsinn specializes in Winnebago parts.

RE: HWH Leveling System Problem--Help

do you hear the pump running when you press store? if not you may have blown a fuse. on our itasca there is a master fuse and each solonoid (those are the valves you opened) has a fuse.

RE: now what

It's sold, so it is a moot point. maybe. if there is gross misrepresentation of the item or an intent to defraud by the seller the buyer may have an out but otherwise i think you may be correct...acceptance of the bid is likely a binding contract enforceable in court. it may be worth the relatively small cost to consult an atty in the seller's state to see what if any rights the buyer has.

RE: now what

I would take it for that price. assuming it checks out mechanically...chassis, coach, appliances and so on, can be licensed in the states, doesn't have a roof that leaks, has no horrible smells inside, the seller actually has title... you get the idea. i think you're nuts to send this guy one red cent until and unless you've inspected the MH, hired qualified chassis and coach mechanics to do a thorough inspection of the RV and taken it for a test drive. assuming all of that passes muster then i would insist that the sale take place at a reputable bank where the title can be examined to be sure it is not a fake. i buy from eBay all the time but there's no way i'd spend that kind of money sight unseen. hope it works out for you.

RE: now what

i don't see a link to your eBay item so can't comment on it. but why would you bid an RV that you hadn't seen and examined in person. you should've realized that there was at least the possibility that you'd win the auction. the time to wonder if it was a scam was before you bid. hope it works out for you.
