RE: What are States known for?

Date shakes in AZ. Can't remember the route, I passed thru on the way from San Diego to PHX. Amazing. Try them even if you don't like dates. Tastes like caramel. It's famous, just google it.
along the 10 and 40 you can find many date shacks

RE: Why does grilled cheese sandwiches stick in the pan?

I have always used mayonnaise as did my mom. I was shocked to hear that people used butter!
One day when I was in junior high, I had come home sick from school, so mom decided to turn my mayo, mustard and cheese sandwich into a grilled cheese. Yummy! Now I always add mustard to the inside of the sammie before cooking.

RE: Gluten Free Recipes

There is one Place I know where you can find all kinds of Gluten free Products. They have gluten free Baking Powder, Flour, Brownie Mix, Biscuit Mix, and much more. Look here.
I hope that helps.
Sprouts (formerly Henry's) carries alot of these products on their shelves

RE: Salmon

She asked for a fish grill wich i had and proceeded to spray both sides with pam,she took 1 1/2" salmon steaks and using butcher's twine wrapped the stomach flaps around the steak and tied them off to make a round,
http://www.irv2.com/forums/images/smilies/blink.gif......"Stomach flaps"????
I've been catching/eating salmon all my life and have no idea what part of a salmon you're talking about...
Are you sure this lady was a chef, and not a plastic surgeon?
That "procedure" sounds more like a tummy tuck than a barbecue...http://www.irv2.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif
When you clean a salmon the stomoch area is emptied so when you cut one into steaks you end up with the sides of skin that covered that area on both sides, you simply roll one side up the middle then wrap the other to mak a circular shaped steak, the idea being that you grill the steak with the skin still on.http://i728.photobucket.com/albums/ww289/MPI_Mallard/SalmonSteaks.jpg
Red Green:
"Vegetarian" is an old Indian word
meaning "I don't hunt so good."
thank you for the pic, I didn't want to admit I still didn't understand, even after the explanation! Now it makes sense

RE: Reverse Mortgages

I find it interesting that many of you say a reverse mortgage is good if you have no heirs. It's your money - spend it if you want or need to!! This notion that because you have given birth to someone, you therefore OWE them something when you die, I find to be ridiculous.
My sister and I have told our parents to spend their money as they see fit. They worked for it, not me, we are not entitled to anything.

RE: Any Atkins followers out there?

Instead of french fries with burgers try the fried pork skins, gives you the fried, salty taste of FF without the carbs.

RE: Any Atkins followers out there?

We bought the cookbook. No pictures and a lot of substitute ingredients didn't leave me feeling real excited.
check the website, lots of pics. By joining, they will send you samples of their snack bars and a handy little booklet for counting carbs.
Substitute ingredients? What do you mean? I find what I need at Sprouts (formerly Henry's) or Vons.
Here is another helpful site

RE: It's clearly spite!

Ihave to agree, I think dogs do things maybe not in spite, but in anxiousness.
BTW Deb, "pooping on the living room floor just as she was getting ready to leave for work (and I was upstairs doing the same)" the first time I read that sentence, I thought, Wow, that is more info than I needed. Then I reread and realized you were doing the same as your daughter, not Bailey! Thanks for the laugh!

RE: Minnie Winni question..

our minnie winnie is an 01 31C - it has the cabover bed. We bought it because we travel with our 2 boys, who are now 16 and 20. We originally had both boys sleep up there. As they have grown, the older (shorter) of the two sleeps on the j lounge couch and the younger (6 ft tall one) still sleeps in the cabover.

RE: Hey Pit Bull Owners!!!

we have had several breeds - never a PB, but only because they are powerful and I am not.
The one that was the biter/attacker was the Boston Terrier that I got from a rescue and had it shipped from Tx to SoCal. That dog never warmed up to my DH and one day tried to bite my 5 y/o son as my son sat on my lap. Dog jumped onto my lap and went for my sons face. Luckily, I was quick enough and pushed the dog down, but it could have been very bad. We found him a home with a single elderly woman who loved him to death and he was an "only child". He never had a single incident ever again. He died a natural death 7 years later.
This is def not to say that all BT's are bad, in fact, I would love to have another. I think whatever situation he was in before I got him, damaged him and I did not have the time or knowledge to get him beyond that damage.

Tasty, totally unhealthy appetizer! Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots

Bacon wrapped tater tots
Bacon - do not use thick bacon
tater tots defrosted
cut bacon to fit around tots
wrap and secure with toothpick
Bake at 450 until bacon is cooked through
I used a 3 lb package of bacon and it was enough for 1/2 of a large package of tater tots.
I drain the bacon grease halfway through to make sure they are not boiling in it.
I made these as an appetizer for a camping trip and then was asked the next morning for more with breakfast.
