RE: Mail

My Dakota address. It is wonderful. We had alernative resources for years but they got too big. Terry does a great job and is extremely helpful. Post office is across the street and 100 feet from the court house. In this small community most everybody knows everybody and when you need something she knows who to call. We get e-mails every day telling us what came, then decide if it is urgent or not. If needed she will open it, copy it, and e-mail it to you. We would not consider anywhere else.

RE: What would you do?

I would just forget about it. It is an excuse for them to run people off who don't care for their rigs etc. If it really made a difference they should have told you at check in. I bet they took your money.

RE: How strong a wind to tip over an RV?

Seems to me that jacks down, slides in would be a wise idea. Maybe even before the wind gets so strong. After you go through that once then decide that maybe you did not need so much prep. Keep the windshield up.

31,000 Pounds pulling Honda provided 8.9 from the first 5000 miles. About 60mph and feather foot.

RE: Reputable RV service provider in the Houston TX area?

I have used rv masters, and would consider very few others in the area. I'll be back there.

RE: Traveling with no reservations . . . .

We seldom make reservations unless we are familiar with the spot and know where we want to be. A lot of the campgrounds are not listed in the books. It seems to me that mostly just the high priced ones are there. Also depends on how long you are staying. Most campgrounds reserve some spots for short term visiters.

RE: advice on new purchase

Price seems fairly rasonable, and don't let the size worry you unless you plan to camp in a lot of state and national parks. Most of them aren't real well equiped for most motorhomes anyway. The real thing is how much am I going to have to spend on this the first year. Does it need tires? Probably yes and at $700 each. Do the awnings need replacement? Probably. Do all the batteries need to go? It likely would need immediate full service on engine and generator also. I'm assuming you know to check for leaks and appliances actually working. That is old for the miles so wonder what has been done to it by sitting so long unattended. Negotiate and take it for a ride on straight road. We don't usually drive these around the neighborhood. A friend bought one like this last year and for some reason he can't run more than one large appliance at a time. Be sure 50 amps work and charger works.

RE: Air bags not filling, now what?

I had the usual alarm that went off after a couple minutes and pressure did build to 120 or so, but rig never lifted and extremely bumpy ride.

Air bags not filling, now what?

We had to move our rig from one end of camp to another. It did not seem like air bags filled. I showed 130# front and back but when I hit air release button nothing happened. It ran about 15 minutes total. We are 100 miles from any sizable shop. What do I do? Is there a fuse or something?

RE: New Coach Discount

You might tell us the brand you are interested and you may get some suggested dealers. There is at little more to buying than the price. Follow up service can be real valuable. I haven't seen a rig yet that did not need things taken care of.

RE: Amazon Jobs - where/how do you apply?

They are happy to take anyone who can stay on their feet for 10 hours so don't worry about it. They still had people steaming in there in mid December. Just pick a campground early. You can always change later. The closest ones seemed to go first. Also for the weaker hearted they do have part time. Only 2 10 hour days a week, but only one of you can do that.

RE: Amazon campgrounds, Kentucky

Like everywhere you go, it depends on what you want and what you like. We were at Three Springs and then Heartland last year. 2011. Three Springs was the best place to stay. Larger site and more room. Heartland was a good site too, but not so roomy. In my opinion these two were the best. Heartland is on edge of town and across the street from Amazon. Three Springs is 15 miles from town, 30 from Amazon, but near the lake. Heartland is almost imposible to get into in October-December because it is so close to Amazon and I think cheaper. Heartland has small laundry facility but I don't think T S has one.

RE: 8.1 Cold Start After 2 Months, Did I Hear Piston Slap ?

We had a new 8.1 in 2001. On our return from Alaska in 2002 I started losing power. It was towed back to Fairbanks and the push rods were replaced. It was under warranty but we were told that the push rods were not strong enough or something to that effect. Supposedly a factory defect. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with your problem. We put over 60,000 on that Winny but I never heard what you mentioned.

My wife got into this thing called Zeek rewards. It is supposed to make us rich. My first thought was "ya right". Anyway I am looking for any info I can get. I may lose my $50, but hey, it won't be the first time. Take a look and tell me what you think. http://anita0257.zeekrewards.com/
