Help please~
Does anyone have any info/ experience with Kwikee steps?
I decided to re-run the ground from the main fuel tank again with totally new wire--
After splicing, I disconnected the ground wire for my automatic steps and attached the fresh ground for the main tank-- I didn't disconnect the battery power to the steps before removing its ground. It sparked a bit, but no biggie-- or so I thought.
Anyway.. after reconnecting the ground wires now my steps don't work--
What the heck-- Did I just fry this $180.00 control unit??
At first, the steps would go down and then immediately back up into the retracted position..
Then they just stopped working altogether-- The steps extended and there they stayed.. There is a little click from the control unit but nothing.
Things just keep getting worse for me here with this gigantic pita--
Does anyone know a good source for possibly picking up a used unit? Mine is from '99
The control unit is sealed.. so no luck opening it--

Also, still no fuel gauge...
I did trace the non-ground wire from the top of the Aux tank though, and it supplies the toggle switch on the dash -- so I'm guessing that it is for a pump and not a guge? No idea though-- I'm seriously about to just burn this hunk of trash:\
The 909510 control unit replaces the 909506.

I have Kwikee series 32 made in 1993 steps. The large metal gear in the gear housing had a couple broken teeth. I ended up turning the gear so that it uses the other side and it is working for now. \\
I sure would like to find a new METAL gear. I really hate the thought of having to pay so much for the conversion kit from Kwikee that has the plastic gears.
anybody ever found the gear or gear case assembly?
This it the company that made the gear boxes and linkages and gears for Kwikee I don't know if you can get parts from them.

Hi
I have e-mail in to Flight Systems who do a repair service for some controllers the best new one I have seen is around $90+ on e-bay but is different to mine. the Ground is OK and I double checked it by bye passing it with a Jump lead.
I live near Beverley In Yorkshire, But we are In Texas at present, the Winnebago is kept here, We use for "winter snow-birding" and the family use it During the rest of the year but unfortunately it has had a long layup this time. Hence the loss of the batteries.!!!

The 9510 control unit is the direct replacement for the 9506 control unit.

You show you model year to be 2008 so yours mite be the one's that were made in CHINA for kwikee.

Power Gear US, bought out Kwikee Step (Link to Power Gear web site).
Powergear did not buy out kwikee. Actuant Corp bought kwikee in september of 2003. Actuant also owns powergear.http://www.actuant.com/
The cast gear in the gear box could be broke to.

If the motor is still running and the step is not moving the gear in the gear box could be striped. There is a plastic gear in the power window motor that can strip also.
