RE: Detroit to Charleston, South Carolina

We left early November last year from Ontario. We went down I75 to Knoxville and then over to Waynesville, Ashville and down to Charleston. There is so much to see in the Smokey Mountains, Ashville and area. The weather was cool and we had to unhook water a couple of nights. We pull a 32 foot fifth wheel and found the mountain drive no problem. Just one area - Green something - was the most challenging. It is just south of Ashville on I26 heading to Charleston. The weather may be very different the end of November. People in the area can comment on that. Beautiful country. Biltmore Estate in Ashville decorated for Christmas. What a beautiful tour. Have a great trip.

RE: Outdoor Travel, Hamilton

We tried to make a deal with them last year on a new 5er. Their price was $8000 dollars more than a dealer that we bought from over the phone. When I called back thinking I had a price to negotiate with they told me it would be a big mistake to buy in the US. When I said I wasn't buying from a US dealer they then said it must be a small dealer with less overhead. I told them that their overhead was their problem. Last I checked they still had the rig we were looking at sitting on the lot. Comments above tell me we made a good decision.

RE: Lake Superior Circle Tour

We did the tour leaving Ontario and heading to Sault Ste Marie Ontario through the US. We then did the circle starting in the Sault and went north. We took the month of August. Had a fantastic trip. PM me if you want more details. I can look some things up for you from our journals and scrapbooks.

RE: Fantastic Fan

Diana
Do you have an enclosed bathroom?
Are we better to put the fantastic fan in the bathroom rather than the bedroom? We have an enclosed bath. I'm not sure that the we would get the air circulation that we are after.
Thanks for all the replies. Looks like a fantastic fan is the answer. Our air works great in the bedroom. First time we have had good air flow. Just don't always need the air or have the hydro to run the air as we sometimes only have 15 amp service and a 15000 BTU air conditioner.

Fantastic Fan

We sometimes find that our bedroom in the 5th wheel gets very warm. Our air works great but we were wondering about adding a fantastic fan for times when we didn't want or couldn't run the air. Would it help cool the bedroom or at least circulate the air? If so, what model do you suggest?

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

We do the 321 cake but after hearing some advice, instead of 1 minute - try 45 seconds in the micro. We love this recipe.

Pricing

On another forum there have been many postings about the pricing for Good Sam. Several first time offers ranging from $59, $79, and up. Renewal price offers are all over the board as well. What is going on? We would like some consistency. Also why do first time buyers get the deals and not renewals? Customer loyalty should be worth something.

RE: Campground Review (Mama Gertie's Hideaway, Swannanoa NC)

Another vote for Mama Gerties. We stayed at the top with the view of the mountains and campground from our window at the back of the fiver. We went for 2 nights and stayed for 4. Great owners who maintain beautiful facilities. Not a campground for strolling but we loved walking the dogs further up the mountain side. We would definitely stay again if we visit the area.

RE: florida gulf beach camping

Carabelle FL. Carabelle Beach RV Resort is right across the road from a beach running for 2-3 miles. Only stayed two nights but loved walking the beach. It is west of Carabelle. Topsail State Park in Destin is fabulous and great restaurants close by. It is a long walk to the beach. Fairly easy bike ride and they do provide a trolley that runs every hour. Absolutely beautiful beach. Both places may be hard to get into without reservations long in advance. Happy camping.

RE: Which is better, Keystone Laredo or Jayco Super Light HT?

We owned a 2010 266RL. Absolutely no problems. It was our second Keystone product with zero issues. The only reason we traded was we were looking for a double slide in the living area and wanted to stay around 32 feet in length. We just needed more space.

RE: Bugs

We bought a ThermaCell at Walmart after a friend brought one to our rig. It worked great. About $25. It covers 225 sq feet.

Not much help for the poster but we had a keystone rig and our tanks were mislabeled as well. Sounds like a jokster is on duty at keystone!!!

RE: Chocolate mug cake

Loved the 3,2,1. Made it tonight for guests. They couldn't believe how easy and delicious. Used chocolate cake mix and added chocolate chips on top of warm cake then added cool whip. Yummy. Now I am thinking of all the combos - spice cake with brown sugar and nuts, lemon with lemon curd on top, the list goes on. Thank you for this great recipe.

RE: What to see and do in Asheville, NC?

You said that you had a campground already but you should at least go and see Mama Gerties. It is built into the side of a mountain. We stayed at the top with our back window looking out over the mountains and the campground. They are building more sites even further up the mountain. We went for 2 nights and stayed for 4. What a beautiful spot. rvparkreviews or google it.
The Biltmore house is a must see. I was lucky enough to be there for Christmas.
