RE: Things that go bump in the night...

On our first outing in our new hybrid, we stayed at a NP campground in PA. In the middle of the night we were awakened by a loud crash. A gigantic tree had toppled over and crushed a car in the site next to us, just missing a tent with people sleeping in it. The next morning, as they were attempting to remove the tree from the car, they dropped it on the campers other car and totaled it.

RE: HVAC efficiency of hybrids in the Southeast

Good advice from the happiest camper. We have owned 2 hybrids, the first was a Starcraft Travelstar---our only issue was the cabinet finish peelig off, dealer took care of it.We always spend a week in North Carolina at the beach, and without any modifications found the a/c to work well. It is true that on chilly nights the bunks will be chillier than the middle, noodles are a good idea. I love the floorplan of the 215SSO --we had the 17'!! (kids grown)

RE: Help-leaks leaks leaks in Keystone Passport

Just an update: DH went to dealership without me (I tend to be outspoken) and simply asked them what to use for roof leaks. Bought some kind of tape (not eternabond) and caulk for tape edges. Then bought caulk at Walmart and sealed everything he could see. Roof at rear seam was incomplete, haven't seen ANY evidence of water down that end.Overall, a VERY lousy haphazard job of caulking this TT was done at the factory. I'm really disappointed---our STARCRAFT and TRAILCRUISER HYBRIDS never leaked------will NOT BUY KEYSTONE again--no response to my letter either. Such a shame--the floorplans and decor are so nice.

RE: Help-leaks leaks leaks in Keystone Passport

I'd look for a Seal Tech dealership. It's pretty awesome. Dealer list Nearest dealership is the place we bought the Passport from--not a good omen, considering the issues we've had with them aside from what I've already stated.

RE: Help-leaks leaks leaks in Keystone Passport

Sorry to hear this. We had a 2007 Passport that leaked, too. Very frustrating process - we had a weak dealer and finally had to get UGLY with Keystone ourselves, and it took 2 years to finally get a resolution. I hope you have better luck! How did it get resolved? I have no problem getting UGLY---could you pm me the details? Carol

RE: Campgrounds open in November East Coast

I took the CBBT last year, 38' - and toad. No problem. Just turn off lp. My coach is 11'8". There is a turn-off just before the bridge to stop and turn off your propane.

RE: Help-leaks leaks leaks in Keystone Passport

Not about to trade!! Still paying for it. DH is out of work for 3 monthes due to surgery. Want best method of covering all the possible leaky spots (a daunting job) DH is usually a do it yourself guy, but this is not practical at this time.

Help-leaks leaks leaks in Keystone Passport

March 2010 took possession of new TT. Slide leak, to dealers x 2 weeks, "It's all set", uh no---DH and son used soap and air compressor to find leak and fixed it. Still waiting, after 2 requests, for moulding removed by dealer to be given to us. (over a year later). We camped around 35 days last summer. Upon de-winterizing, found a POOL of water in the above-bed cabinets. Water dripping from a nail in the cabinet ceiling. Water under sink, spreading onto floor. Water in the outside storage cabinet (probably due to poor seals and wind driven rain). Of course warranty is long over. DH and son tried to find leak/s today, couldn't pinpoint any, so the plan is to recaulk /seal EVERYTHING. Needless to say, we are VERY upset. Previously owned 2 hybrids, over 10,000 miles each, no leaks and no flat tires. (one flat already on this one). DH recently had a 5 hour back surgery and is not really supposed to be doing this kind of stuff!! Will you experts recommend a product? We will probably be hiring someone to do this :M since the closest dealer is the one who couldn't do the job the first time. I wrote all this to the manufacturer, but have heard nothing back. I love the floorplan of this camper, but am afraid it's going to rot out from under us!!

RE: Burlingame SP RI ???????

Thanks for reassuring me that my mental deterioration hasn't advanced more than I thought. We want to continue camping there---but stuff like this irritates me--it's like a Catch-22 situation. are there rules about generators there? I ask because the group across from DD ran theirs until 10 pm. She said they were "really nice people" and left on Sunday, but who wants to listen to a generator all evening? I told her most courteous people would run theirs about 2 hours to charge up the batteries---guess they must've had the a/c running. Big class A, DD and group were in tents. On the whole, though, we did like the park and will go back.

RE: Burlingame SP RI ???????

Hi---When I registered, the form stated max people-6, max vehicles 3. I put down 6 people, 1 travel trailer, 2 vehicles.($80.00 plus 9.00 service fee) My DD and family (4 people) went up, checked in, 1 vehicle, 2 tents. We showed up minus travel trailer (DH's surgery prevented this) 2 people, 1 vehicle. Total of 6 people, 2 vehicles. Had to pay $2.00 as a "visitor", additional $6.00 if we stayed overnight. I had reservation in hand, didn't matter, she just kept repeating, politely robot-like, the above. I still don't get it. I kept telling her, "But I already paid!!!!!"---nope, didn't matter. Paid the $2.00--but am annoyed that I feel I must be missing something here.

Burlingame SP RI ???????

Long story short---reserved a site for 4 nights with family--site allows 3 vehicles, 6 tents, 6 people($89.00)Son rented a cabin nearby.2 adults, 3 children for 4 nights. Since we couldn't do the trailer tow and setup,(DH had back surgery last week) we drove up to spend the day and see the kids and grandkids. When I registered, I was told I had to pay $2.00 to park my car, and $6.00 to stay overnight,I tred to show rhe girl my eservation, but she wasn't interested. All of our names and equipment were on the ressie and nowhere are you told abot these extra car fees So we paid the fees, then 2 of us got hit up for extra car costs Still trying to decide if it's me that got something wrong. Nice park though, needs more bathhouses.

RE: Season not over...where we going next!

Meeting kids/grandkids at Burlingame State Park, RI for the day---made ressies awhile back, DH had back surgery 8 days ago, I have bad arthritis, so we're unable to do the camper thing(hook-up/set-up) and spend the 3 nights we originally planned :( WDW (flying down, no camping)late September, then Caledonia State Park, PA (near Gettysburg) early October. Then it's over here for us.(shoulder replacement scheduled for me) Unless I can convince DH ....

RE: Suggestions - camping with 10 year old granddaughter

Thank you so much for the suggestions. We live in the Hampton Roads area so our granddaughter has grown up with Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. This is a wonderful area for history and I think that is where her love of history was born. I think Gettysburg might be our destination this summer. She did learn about the Civil War in school this past year and we've already visited several small Civil War sites in Virginia. We love Lake Toxaway but I have to weigh the three hour trip to Gettysburg vs the seven hour trip to Lake Toxaway. And the horseback tour of the battlefield pushed it over the edge for Gettysburg. Let's hope I can get reservations. We love Gettysburg----and are going in October. Several years back we took our granddaughter to "Land of Little Horses" and it was so much fun!! Frederick, MD is south of you, has a Civil War medical museum and is a beautiful historic town. And don't forget to go on a night ghost walk!!! Lots of fun. Check the Gettysburg site for living history events----there are always history buffs doing encampments and they love to answer questions. After 4-5 trips, we still haven't done everything we'd like. Have fun!!

RE: HELP baby raccoon

They have been named Fred and Ethel and possilby Lucy and Ricky. We will find out for sure soon as the wildlife people are coming today. There are at least two as they call to each other all the time (loudly). We think one can come and go out the front end of the trailer that is open enough to crawl in and the other is some how stuck at the back and moves from side to side. We have agreed to allow the wildlife people to cut a 2x3 foot hole in the underbelly at the rear of the trailer where the second Brat is. I will let you know what happens and if I can figure out how to post pictures will do so. So what happened???

RE: rv wholesalers

The dealer I referenced in CT left our brand new TT out for people to trample through on their open house day. We had purchased in Dec, and they were storing it for us until March (so that the warranty would go into effect then) and we just happened to take a ride up for the open house. Boy was I pi$$ed. They locked it up and got it off the lot right away. Never again for these guys. They have pretty much a monopoly in our area.

RE: rv wholesalers

We previously bought a hybrid from a PA dealer on the recommendation of friends. The converter died the first year----they mailed us the part and reimbursed us the cost of installation (a friend who had previously worked for The Evil Dealership did it). Never had any other issues. Would've bought from them again but they didn't have the TT I wanted. Their prices are excellent. Clem's RV's north of Pittsburgh. DH is a mechanic, and can do the minor issues that may come up. That was a good idea, calling the manufacturer to get the names of places that would do the warranty work. Evil Dealer claimed "We don't make any money on warranty work".
