RE: Mail

If you are going to be at the same location all winter just do a tempory forward for the duration. No charge. We have done this the past 7 winters with no problem & no cost.

RE: Rv pad rental

Only about 500 parks to choose from, I would just come down & get a space for a week and visit many parks to find the park, site and area you like best.
Or if you have more detailed wants maybe better suggestions can be made.
You can get in most parks without an advance reservation.
Prices range from about $200. a month to $700. a month. Plus electric.
We had stayed at Mesa Spirit but found it too big. I think you are at Green Gate Grove which we are looking at. Played pool there
Green Gate Grove is very nice, that is where we are after looking at about 100 parks. The lots are all privately owned & you have to rent direct from the owner. There is a list of lots for rent on the website. Also the office has paper copies.
Very near by is Americana that is nice, also Bentsen Grove.

RE: Where to haul the dog??

Try riding in the 5er some time. It bounces around so much you would likely be car sick within a mile. If you like your dog at all have him ride in the cab with you.

Drain the water heater and I am certain it will go away. It is a common occurrence.
Yes, that is where the problem is.

RE: Canadian RV'er murdered in Mexico (a lesson in sarcasm)

No matter how you spin it, there are nationalists everywhere, even here in Mexico some people believe their country is the cat's meow.
Here is a new study released by Stanford and I am sure some will say those at Stanford have their heads somewhere else.
Are Americans safer in Mexico than at home?
As an rver, I hope never have to choose boundaries for my travels. Can't wait to travel Central and South America, Australia, Africa and Asia.
Beats getting up every morning, pouring coffee as I look out the kitchen window pondering about the rest of this great planet. I guess someday we will say, "why travel to the moon when there is plenty to see on our great planet".
Great article!
Yes, stats can be manipulated. (Part of my job in my younger days) But still a very good article.
There is more than 1 side to every story.
& What country provides the bulk of consumers for the drug trade?

RE: Winter-ing the RGV?

Looking to buy a small home there myself.
Does that mean we are losing another full timer?
44 years must be a record, Maybe you can find a house with room for a RV pad so your full timer friends can visit.

RE: Winter-ing the RGV?

For quiet & fishing on the coast you might like Port Mansfield, Riviera Beach, Mustang Island, Port Aransas or Matagorda. Good surf fishing & beach combing at Boca Chica Beach east of Brownsville or for a small town that is in the warm belt & has easy access to South Padre Island try Port Isabel.
Inland with good fishing try Zapata or Corpus Christie Lake.
The Piney Woods & lakes of east Texas are great too, just a little cooler.
One reason I advocate for the RGV is my Comfort zone temperature wise is 70 - 90 degrees and we see a lot of that here.

RE: Winter-ing the RGV?

I agree 100% that there are many areas in Texas that are much prettier & have better fishing than the RGV. Most are just colder & windier than I like.
When we want to camp we go to Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin or Oregon.
When we Snowbird we prefer the warmth & attractions of the RGV.
