RE: Route 209 in PA

When we came South last Fall we did our usual 209 South and did find a few short detours from storm damage connected to Irene. We took the detours and went our merry way. I guess when we get up there I guess we will go 209 as usual. Thanks for the info and replies. Happy Trails

RE: Pre-trip bug treatment

We always use Turtle wax, applied heavy coat and not polished or buffed. At the end of the day, as soon as hooked up, before the first adult beverage, get a bucket of hot water, your favorite long handled brush and wet the front of the unit or wherever the bugs are smashed. Wet the surface and then scrub the wetted surface with plenty of warm water. Wash the bugs off with additional warm water, then rinse off with the hose!!! Bugs are gone!!!!! If you wait and let them buggers dry on there, you going to bust your butt getting them off. They will fall off eventually but you going to work. Hot water, let it soak the bugs and warm the wax. Off the bugs go. We coat the windshield well with Rainex and use the warm water to wash the bugs off the glass!!! Before you leave tomorrow, remember to put a good heavy coat of wax on again, same drill each day till you are away from Bug Country. This has worked for us for several years!!!!

RE: Mileage on sealed fan hub bearing

After having your Valves adjusted was there much of a difference in the fuel usage??? Just asking. We are just above 55,K now and thinking hard about when we will make the investment (Labor) in Valve Adjustments. Could you be so kind as to list the costs involved. Appreciate the info. Happy Trails

RE: No valuables on board?

If you lock the access to your LP Bottles, regardless of size, and you have a fire, your Insurance Co. can cancel your coverage on the spot. Also, our MH has no lock on the access door to the 26 gal. LP Tank from the builder so you know you cannot lock the access. Bicyles were going missing in a local RV Park so I walked down to the basket ball court by the Club House. I had a chat with the youths playing basketball and found they were all from the Apartment Complex next door. Explained we needed help getting the three bikes back that had gone missing. Within three days the bikes were in the bike rack in front of the Club House. We encourage the Youths from next door to play on our court. Good Neighbor Policy!!!!!!

RE: I26/I40 from I95 to Knoxville really hilly?

You start out coming off of 95 but where are you actually coming from??? If you are coming from CENTRAL Florida or SOUTH of there you might consider a cruise towards the WEST side of Florida, out toward the panhandle area and see the REAL old Florida. You can go North from out there and to I40 with out all the hills and all the traffic! Get off the (I) roads and enjoy the scenery. Just my two cents! Good Luck

RE: Traffic in MA

Unless you have a real reason to stay at Normandy, and your real destination is Historic Plymouth then I would suggest perhaps coming to The Gateway to Cape Cod preserve of Out Door World in Rochester, Ma. Closer to Plymouth and the park is just off of Route 495 in West Wareham. Out Door World is part of the Family of Thousand Trails Preserves and non- members pay $40.00 per night. We camp there all Summer as part of our dues package and pay nothing extra. We love the area, with, as noted, easy access to Plymouth as well as easy access to the Whaleing National Park in near-by New Bedford. The Cape Cod Canal is a short drive away and you would have access to beautiful Cape Cod and beaches and such.

RE: York/Lancaster,PA to Washington, DC Metro/Train, ETC

Thanks for info thus far. Running the info through our Map Program it looks like leaving from the Out Door World Gettysburg Farm Campground in Dover and going down through 15 to 270 to Wheaton Metro Station will be about a 2 hour drive and away from Baltimore, a more direct line to the Metro. The metro has been recently extended to Wheaton so I guess that is a little shorter than going to Silver Springs, or am I wrong? We have used the Metro before but from the South of the City so this will be our first from coming in from this side. The reason for staying at Gettysburg Farm is, as members of Out Door World we stay for free (included in our dues structure) as against the fees of from $30.00 to $70.00 in the closer in to the City Private Campgrounds. We appreciate the help and advice and are still open to comment or correction to our plans. Again Thanks for the Info.

RE: York/Lancaster,PA to Washington, DC Metro/Train, ETC

We are members of Thousand Trails/Out Door World(ODW) Family of Camp Ground Preserves and will be staying in Pennsylvania. We would like to take maybe a couple of long day trips into DC to refresh our memories of our Nations Capital. We are both Train fans and want to drive to the near station and commute into the Metro and tour the DC and then commute back out to the Camp Ground at the end of the day. Hope someone can come up with the numbers to call or schedules, ETC.

York/Lancaster,PA to Washington, DC Metro/Train, ETC

Will be staying in Gettysburg Farm, ODW in York, PA, or Circle M ODW in Lancaster PA, and looking for a way to drive the toad or ride the Train or Bus into Washington DC or closest Metro Station. Any Commuters on here that can suggest who to call for help? TIA

RE: Value of a convenient overnight CG

We use our Pass Port America Card to get 50% discount at Member Camp Grounds. Your $30.00 would thus be $15.00. Good Luck

RE: Natchez trace trail

We came down from Tupelo and stayed in The Ross Barnet Resevoir, Goshen Springs Camp Ground, 4248 Highway 43N, Brandon MS 39047, 601-829-2751 back in 2010 and stayed a couple days in October. We were assigned one of their "new" cement sites and had a nice stay. Did some maintenance and when we left, we forgot to remove our Brass Four Faucet water valve and Pressure Regulator. We were a days travel towards the South-East when we went to hook up next and discovered we didn't bring the valve assembly. As I realised what had happened, my cell phone rang and it was Pam at Ross Barnet. She was calling to tell me that one of their Rangers had turned our Valve Assembly in to the Office. She wanted to know what we wanted done with it. I asked if she could box it up and send it to us at our ultimate destination whish was the Sherwood Forest in Kissemmee, FL. She said she would be glad to do it and sent it via UPS Collect! I am forever grateful to Pam and highly reccommend the Camp Ground because it is one beautiful spot and very reasonabley priced, as I remember only $20.00 a night. If we ever go by that way again you can bet we will be sure to stop and stay a few days.

RE: Finding a campground along an interstate?

Once you have been down the road from point A to wherever, you can refer to your Log Book and see where you stayed before and if you liked it, stay again. We have been out for eight years and our map books are crisscrossed with the yellow marker we use to cover where we have been. When we find a place we like, we Log it and also make a yellow circle round it so we can go back again. With the Computer it is easy to check your intended route and ask the computer to show camp grounds near the area you need to be. Most of the time, if you are breaking a new trail you can even print off a Map from the Computer that will give you turn by turn directions. Save your trails and reuse them next time! Happy Trails..

RE: TV antenna torn off..what to do?

To the OP: You have joined a not so rare fraternaty with in the RV Family. You are not alone and the posters to this thread have made, IMHO, suggestions earned by experience. I to am a Member of the Club and will reccommend the Clothes Pin corrective device, but it is best used as follows: When the Antenna is UP, the Wooden Snap Clothes Pin is attached to the Ignition Key or Shift Lever or Parking Brake Release, so that you are reminded to lower the antenna before moving the unit. How ever, when you remove the Clothes Pin from the Brake, Ignition or Shift Lever, you place it on the crank handle of your LOWERED ANTENNA. When you next go to crank up your antenna, before cranking up you put the Clothes Pin onto the Key, Shift or Brake Release. Thus, you will know by seeing where the clothes pin is, whether the antenna is up or down. Good Luck

RE: Computer connection issues

Which Verizon Air Card are you using? How many "Lines" do you have showing? We use the USB760 and right now we have a full set of lines and a -70 on the recieve side and -83 on the transmit side. We have had service all around the Country and are happy with the service and the lenovo computer and MS7 OS. We are at Sherwood Forest in Kissimmee, FL now. Good Luck

RE: Onan 7500 Quiet Diesel error code 19

OK, Gov. Acuator Fault. Neccessary are Air and Fuel. Fuel Starvation could cause Gov. to seek fuel but if not there, engine shutdown will follow. Watered Fuel could also cause Gov. malfunction. Good Luck

RE: Onan 7500 Quiet Diesel error code 19

I would be happy to attempt to help but not having my manual in my back pocket, and not wanting to go into the storage cellar to dig it out, I don't know the Code 19???? More info might help. Running 15-20 min and then shut down makes me think the water is low, or the oil is low or the cooling system may be blocked with Hornet Poop but without more info than you have offered, Sorry,no can help!!!

RE: Huge, COSTLY mistake, I should have fixed it!

We are Florida Residents and the windsheilds are replaced, no deductible. We have found that one should not follow close behind trucks and trailers and RV's that toss stuff into the air for one to run into. One of the reasons we do not like to travel on interstates. To much speed and nutty drivers.
