RE: koa

Our family chooses KOA's any time we can. Like many hotel chains, knowing that there is some basic uniformity to most KOA's is a nice thing to count on when you pull in. We've only had one KOA not be up to the standards we've come to expect, and it was a new franchise (Houston, TX). We've never had anything but courteous and helpful people at any of them we've stayed at.
Some of our favorites include:
Amarillo, TX (Very nice and great people)
Joplin, MO
Abeline, TX
Van Horn, TX
Las Cruces, NM (Where our MH is at in the photo below)
While they are more expensive on the whole, they are worth it to us for an overnight during a trip across the country.
Glad you gave them a chance and enjoyed your time there!

RE: Average age and mileage of class c mh's??

Under carriage maintenance has to be done especially if run on salt covered roads. I get under mine every year to clean and paint anything thing show rust or other types of corrosion.
Can you give any more detail on your process and the products you use to do that work? You use a special type of paint and how exactly do you clean everything?
Good tip!

Average age and mileage of class c mh's??

We purchased a 2003 Gulfstream Conquest class c in April of 2010 with about 13,000 miles on it. It's built on the Ford E450 V10 and is 31ft.
After about 13 months of ownership we now have around 27,000 miles on it. :E We driven it across the country many times in the past year, mainly between MI and AZ and the miles racked up (so did the gas costs. double :E :E!
As it now closes in on the 30,000 mile mark, I'm wondering what a typical lifespan is on an RV. This being our first one, I'm not sure what most owners expect and how engine life and chassis life compares to what you could get on an auto or truck. To this point, I've had literally zero mechanical issues with it, but I assume that sooner or later they'll start appearing and won't be cheap. As I see the mileage increasing, I'm just wondering what to expect in the years to come.
I will mention that we won't be putting that many miles on each year any longer. We'll probably be in the 7000/yr range for the next few years if we keep the RV.
Any experiences and thoughts on RV lifespans would be great. Thanks!
