Hi, an update and A phone question

Although we longer RV I enjoy hearing what everyone is up to. I'm still holding the dream to have another RV, depends on the $ situation and my COPD. We had a yard sale and sold some of our RV stuff and the rest I gave to out pastor who is retiring and is starting out as a new RV'er. All I have left that Id like to ger rid of is a thedford 28 gal. tote and a tank back wash. Now the question. First we have Verison cell phone service and are needing new phones soon. This week I got a mailer from AARP about Consumer Cellular and wondered if any of you have had experience with them, Good or Bad. It would be nice to lower our cell phone bill but have good service from Verison and don't want to get out of the frying pan into the fire so to speak. Thanks and Hi to all of you we sure miss being out there with you. Jerry

I didn't sign off the site.

Now that we no longer RV I had intended to sign off the site but have changed my mind. I enjoy the stories and decided to hang around, if I can post something of value I'll do that. We had our yard sale yesterday and the only items from the RV that sold were some of the dishes. We have a friend who is retireing in June and has bought a TT and tow vehicle. They are brand new and we've provided all the advice we could to help them, all the RV items that we aquired we are giving to them. The only item that I realy wanted to sell was the Thedford Tote and everyone who said they were RV"ERS said they already had one. I didn't think our friends want it. Oh well back to a back up plan. I'll be stopping in once in a while to see how you all are doing. Jerry

Signing off, the dream is dead.

Health has gone the hill as well as the economy. This next weekend we are selling all the stuff we had for the RV that we kept thinking we'd have another. It's been fun. Thanks to all of you for all the good info and a few laughs here and there. Jerry

Front line from Canada

I just recieved my order from Canada Pharmacy for Frontline, along with RX for my self. What surprised me was it says it eliminates fleas and ticks, also biting lice. Thats a new one on me. I surfed the puter and it seems this product is used in Europe, but not in this country. It is mfg by Merial the same mfg.as our front line. I just thought it interesting and decided to pass it on. I suppose our Canadian folks already know about it. Jerry

RE: bath after frontline

Skip is right 48 hrs. The reason is the Frontline gets into the oil on their skin. To soon after a bath and their skin is not as oily as it usually is. Same thing about before a bath, it gets washed away. Our Vet told me that. Jerry

RE: The government

It would do no good raising poltical issues here. Write your Congressman and Senators. You can find their web sites by searching and E-Mail them. I Do every once in a while. I bet the VA has a red flag on my account I've got my congressman on them a couple of times, he did help me too. Also VOTE , it would scare the hell out of them if everyone voted. Jerry

RE: DMV Doug Any new Collie nose treatments?

Our Vet has a new Laser treatment. I looked at the book while waiting and I wonder if that might be of some help. I used to laugh at laser treatments but after trying to quit smoking for several years and many wasted dollars, A friend of mine tried it and I thought if it worked for him I'll try. It worked and I didn't go back for the second free backup treatment. Good luck. Jerry

RE: Thinking About Calling It Quits

I'd give options very serious thought. the last option being hanging up the keys. A year ago we sold out P.U. and T.T. Today I'm damn sorry, some of it was my health, and money. Our house has been on the market for 1 year tomorrow and only one offer, that I considered that I'd be giving the place away. If we'd have kept the rig at least we could go on short trips. Getting another RV is now looking pretty slim. We made a bad decision that I regret very much. Jerry

RE: Skin allergies on Shelties

A dog food from Tractor Supply called 4Health is low fat and has no corn or wheat in it, comes in chicken or lamb. It has a 4 star rating on the dog food rating site. No I don't work for or get paid to advertise for them. Jerry

RE: Chicken bones causing diarrhea ?

Your situation sounds very familiar to ours. We've two small Doxies and used to cook chicken and top their food with the meat and broth. Our little girl got Pancretitis and nearly died. After 3 days in the hospital and many dollars shes home and doing good. The vet said it was to rich and fat for them. She's on a special intestial diet dog food, no table scraps, or treats. They have taken well to just their own food and we feed them 3 smaller meals instead of two, vet recomended. She said pancretitis will come back easier if she goes off diet and it is usually more serious. Both of ours were eating grass and vomiting that clear stuff, but it has stopped now. The other guy we feed dog food from Tractor Supply called 4health. It is low fat and no wheat or corn. It has a 4 star rating on the dog food rating site. I recommend no more chicken and good luck. Jerry--- No spell check tonite, I hope I did OK.

RE: Mice in the basement

I had mice in the basement of the TT. Peppermint oil will drive them out, I put the oil on cotton balls, after I was sure they were gone I spray foamed every opening I could get the nozzle into. No more trouble. Good luck. Jerry

RE: Campgrounds that feel like a trailer park

I have to agree that run down trailers and a " I don't care", how my place looks is uncalled for and is a reflection on the managers or owners of the park. Those folks should be made to shape-up or ship out. One reason for permanent residents in parks is the housing foreclosures. I know of several folks that were losing their homes and decided to live in a trailer rather than be homeless. Jerry

RE: Gas versus diesel engines in the future?

Our county is changing our trash pickup company. One of there big braggs is that the trucks use compressed natural gas, less polution and less noise. Thats the first time I've heard of that. Jerry

RE: Need Christmas gift idea for my mother-in-law

If she's anything like my mother-in-law, (she has passed on). She could use a new broom, maybe with all the bells and whistles. Don't need a tow dolly either. Jerry

Tis the end of the road

Lady Luck has not smiled on us in a long time now. Bad luck has been our companion. At this point I see no reason to believe that we will ever have another RV. I may stop by once in awhile to see how things are going. I wish to thank all of you who have provided me with a wealth of information, also so some good laughs. Keep the shiny side up, and A Merry Christmas. God Bless you all. Jerry

RE: Rosie's best friend has mast cell cancer - UPDATE 9/19

I think the key is to have it removed as soon as possible. We lost our Doxie because we had to wait due to a bank screw up, and some bad advise from said bank. It was only a month wait. We have changed banks mostly due to their bad advise concerning a credit card change over. I have found out since that there is a credit card that most vets except, I think it's called Care Credit. Check with your Vet. I think the first year is at a very low interest rate. Good Luck and Gods Blessings.. Jerry

RE: Removing a toilet

A funny story. While in Tunica Miss. the casinos of course. Our flush valve broke and we called an RV repairman. He came that afternoon, removed the toilet carried it outside and set it on the picnic table. My wife near died and some fellow campers just shook their heads. He didn't have the right valve and reset the toilet. We flushed with a bucket for the rest of the trip. As soon as he left DW was out there with the clorox and dawn and gave it a good scrubbing, then hosed it off. From then on we always wondered what was on tables in other CG'S. Jerry

RE: Anyone clean with WD-40

I didn't read the whole list but. spray some in the air cleaner of had to start mower or any motor, it will usually start on first pull. Masons use it to keep stucco from sticking to metal frames on buildings. Spray some on the base of a paint brush before using it, it will wash clean even if dried on. It is good to clean paint off hands also. I've heard that you can use it as a flame thrower, but i'm not going to try. Handy stuff for sure. Jerry
