RE: Shake down run in "new to us" Class A, St Louis area

Babler is good. So is Cuivre River east of Troy. Cuiver River has full hookups available.

RE: How far from Detroit?

Check out Rifle River Recreation Area near Rose City. It has modern and primitive sites. When we lived in Sterling Heights it was our favorite state park. Stopped there for a couple of days last fall.

RE: going on our first camping trip in our new to us Motorhome

where is Wildwood? We make it to mid Missouri every year and it is hard to find a place to park. WE need to be in sedalia ( parents are there). We looked at parks located in that town and discovered they are all permanant people. So, we park at the state fair grounds. It is ok, just a field with some full hook ups, but only 30 amp. If Wildwood is close, it may be a possibility for us.
Wildwood is just west of St. Louis, between Eureka (I44) and Chesterfield (I64/US40). Its a long ways to Sedalia. For Sedalia you'd be closer to Knob Noster State Park.

RE: Spending a couple of months in Michigan

Regarding a route to the UP from Iowa, I'd take I35 to Duluth, MN and then US2 east to Michigan's UP. Lot's of places to visit all across the UP. You will probably need reservations in June, July, and August, most anywhere in Michigan especially over weekends and holidays.

RE: Best Midwest State Parks

My top parks in Missouri are Bennet Springs (trout fishing), Sam Baker (hiking, biking, swiming), Babler and Cuivre River (both close to home), and Mark Twain COE. In Michigan they are Ludington, Rifle River Rec Area, and Porcupine Mountains.

RE: Exit Now vs Next Exit Book

I have the 2011 edition of both Next Exit and Exit Now. In deciding which I wanted to concetrate on using I checked the accuracy of the listings on I-70 and I-64 near my home. I found Exit Now to be terribly inaccurate so we only use Next Exit. I figure that with so many local errors Exit Now probably was not too accurate in other areas as well.

RE: Leak in Bedroom

I am really new to *issues* like leaks in the rear bedroom, wet carpet but no visible sign of water on walls or ceiling. You have all given great responses. I am just so darned unhappy about the leak and subsequent wet carpet that it makes camping not fun. We have decided to take it in to the dealership to let them find the leak. Do you think this is advisable?
It is a 30' 2004 Itaska Sunova. With leak in the rear bedroom, drivers side.
Does your Sunova have a gravity water fill? My 2003 Sunova had leaks in the gravity fill system. One was a hole in the fill tube that leaked when the tank was reasonably full and going up hills. Dealer replaced the fill tube. The other was where water would run down the outside wall behind the fill door and accumulate there until the level was higher than the slot for the locking mechanism. Since I never use the gravity fill, I sealled arround the fill door.

RE: Portable Surge Protector

The covers of the power poles in a lot of parks can be locked with a padlock. This is what I do whenever possible. When the cover cannot be locked I have a chain I wrap arround the power pole and the surge protector and lock it's ends together.

RE: Winnebago Vista 35F Door Lock Question

I have a 2003 Itasca Sunova (Winnebago product). Mine has two different keys for the door locks. Check where you purchased it for the other key.

RE: No camping for awhile...

I had a quad bypass over Christmas 2008. Was back to driving the MH by April. Went on an 8 week trip to Yellowstone, Glacier, and Banff in August. Cardiac rehab did wonders getting me on the road to recovery.

RE: Class A or Travel trailer

I've had a TT, 2 class C's, and a class A MH. Would never go back to a TT. Yes, with a toad, you have two vehicles to maintain; but I ended up with two vehicles with the TT. The Suburban I pulled the TT with was too much to be a daily driver. The toads I've had have been small pickups. Having two vehicles on a trip becomes really handy if you have problems with either vehicle; which we have experienced. With a TT you are stuck while your tow vehicle is in the shop. Sightseeing is much more fun with a smaller vehicle. Stopping for breaks while on the road is much easier with a MH especially in the summer. I can go on and on why I prefer the MH to a TT.

RE: comments: Chevy Colorado as a toad

Dumptrucker: I tow a 4WD Canyon Crewcab and have an SMI Stay-N-Play system. The version I have is a box about 10 x 10 inches that I installed under the real seat.
rockhillmanor: Is the mother's Canyon 4WD or does she have to leave the key in the ignition to unlock the steering? Also, what kind of braking system and where does power come from?

RE: I-70 East bound

I'm with PotKorn on using I64 from Wentzville all the way through St. Louis. There is no good way through or around St. Louis during the rush hours.
In KC if you use I670, the exit ramp from I70 is on the left. I missed it the last time through and had to continue on I70 around the north side of the center city.

RE: Exit Now or The Next Exit

In my opinion Next Exit is more accurate than Exit Now. I got both as gifts last Christmas. When I compared them for the exits around the area I live in, Exit Now was very inaccurate and not as up to date as Next Exit.

RE: Norcold N611 on generator issue

Here is what I've found so far with the help of a couple of members in our camping club this past week. The generator is not putting out 60 hz. With no load it is varying between 61 and 65 hz and the refrigerator does not operate on AUTO. Under load the frequency is more constant at 61 hz and the refrigerator operates correctly on AUTO. So it looks like I need to have the generator serviced.
