RE: what is the best CG in Pigeon Forge with FH?

Pine Mountain is where we always stay. You have access to an indoor pool which is nice. Full hookups and cable. All paved, lots and roads.

RE: Myrtle Beach

We will be at Willow Tree this July. LOVE IT!!!! We will be there with out kids who enjoy this park so much. My parents will be with us this year.
You will enjoy the quiteness of the park and the walking trails around the lake. The pool and beach area are always clean. I see people fishing but never noticed anyone catching anything.
See ya at the Tree

RE: State registration / exise tax cost

Here in GA the tag tax on our 2008 Rockwood 8313 for 2012 was 379.00. Way to high in my opinion. I called to make sure the county office knew that this was a travel trailer with no motor. They did and said 379.00 for my little sticker. :E

RE: Now Open: "Luxury RV Park" on Okaloosa Is/Ft Walton Bch, FL

Thanks but no thanks at 100.00 a night....Oh thats right with their restrictions my lowly TT is not allowed. I hope some one from there looks at these posts and sees the comments. We camp with friends with FW and pop ups so we pick places that don't descriminate on the basis of type.

RE: Jellystone Park, Near Atlanta, How is it?

Reading your question I can be a little help. Not sure what activities they have available this time of year. I doubt you would be swimming. They do have playground, putt putt and you can rent peddle cars. When we were there is was fall and they did bring out the characters on the weekend and they had the train ride. During the week not much going on.
Overall the campgroup is nice but some of the sites are a ways away from the bathhouse. This would include walking up a hill to the bathhouse. I forget the site number we were on but we were close to the main house.
We didn't find much to do in the area so be prepared to hang out at the campground.
Sorry could not be much more help.

RE: Hot Water

We don't turn it off while we are camping. It is just like the house I don't turn my hot water heater off at night. My trailer is my home away from home so what I do at the house is done in the trailer.

RE: Price check on maxxis tires

Interesting topic....I just got back from the local tire company pricing tires for our 2007 Rockwood 8313SS. I asked about the D versus E tires. I was told that for my trailer the best fit would be the D tires due to the psi. That if I wanted to go to E that they would suggest upgrading the rims.
I am going to keep reading this to find out the outcome but I have scheduled tomorrow for my D rated Maxxis.

Yet another tire question regarding Westlake

Ok it is our time to purchase new tires for our 2007 Rockwood. We currently have******tires that are separating. I have read all the posts about tires and it only makes me more confused. We called a local RV service center and they directed us to a local tire company. Our tires are ST 205/75 R15. We are not looking at changing the rims at this time. They have reccommeded West Lake tires. Does anyone have optionon on these? Or should we go back and tell them we want Maxxis? Haven't they moved their production to China? Please any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

RE: Heater question

You will find a lot of people suppliment their heat with other types of electrical heat. This is anywhere from electric heaters to electric blankets. We have a small electric heater that we use and we put the furnance temp down low so that the electric heater will keep the chill out. This way the funance will only come in when it drops low. All depends on how warm you want the interior of your RV. If you want it really warm generally speaking you will have to use both.
Once thing to remember is if you have enclosed underbelly alot of RV use the furnance to blow heat down there to keep your pipes warem If you are camping in really cold weather you would not want to forgo the funance and end up with pipe issues.

RE: Myrtle Beach

Sumar wrote:
Yes, Willow tree is a great resort in Longs, right outside of N. Myrtle beach, however it's not on the beach and I really don't think it would be great for a 14 yr. old.
Too laid back, and not enough going on.
Agree with this post. I have stayed at both and with a 14 year old. Ocean lakes would be best. I have a 17 year old and she tells us Willowtree is boring for her. I like it, but it is not the beachside campground. She likes the fast paced everything going on at Ocean lakes. Pirateland would be the next best for teenagers. MBTP is laid back too but with a nice lazy river, maybe a little more to doen than Lakewood. 14 year old would find the state parks that are very nice real quiet compared to OLCG.Ocean would be about it for them.
???
randy
I would agree only if the teenagers are used to the hustle and bustle at campgrounds. We camp at state parks and when we go to Florida we camp at Topsail which is not hustle and bustle. So the one time we camped at PirateLand my kids thought it to be way busy and overwhelming. We have camped at Willow Tree and they have always meet other teenagers at the campground and enjoyed hanging out in the campground and around the lake. My kids are 14 and almost 18 and are both excited about our July trip to Willow Tree. So I would say it is up to what the kids expect in a campground to which campground would suit everyones needs. That is the beauty of MB there is something for everyone.

First reservation for 2012 made..so happy

Due to many different things we did not camp 1 night in 2011 which we have never done before and hope to never do again. I just made our beach trip to Myrtle Beach. My parents and I have the buddy sites at Willow Tree in July.
We are all excited to camp again in 2012, even the dog seemed excited about the reservation.

Kuddos to all the campgrounds that won.

RE: RV Park near Cleveland, Georgia

Check out Riverbend Campground in Hiawassee. It has full hookups and it close to Helen and all activities. The owners are very nice and we just love it for our GA mountain camping.
Here is the link. If you go be sure to tell Bobbie and Susie (owners) hello.
RiverbendCampground
And they have 30 amd 50 amp, cable tv, playground.
I agree with the others I don't like Lesure Acres, Jenny's Family campground was not to family as they didn't have a playground.

RE: How Many Loan Your TT

No I would not lend out ours. I have heard of friends then loaned theirs out and only to return with things broke. Even in one case they lent it to family and their son used a huge fan to keep the RV cool and the fan left a huge stain on the linoleum. Even something as simple as that cause an issue. If I do something that breaks or leave a stain it is me doing it to my own RV. Still make me mad but I can only be mad at myself.
I have told family and friends no can do.

RE: Have not used the TT all year! Ever been through that?

The last time we camped was Christmas 2010. We generally go 30-40 days a year. This year has been busy with the kids and work (keeping from camping but allow me to keep the camper). Next year we will be camping back to our normal routine.
We go out there and make sure all is well and even had a Friday night movie night out there.
When life throws you lemons catch them and save them unitl next time you go camping and you will have some real good lemonaide.

RE: Gatligburg, Tn.

If you would consider staying over in Pigeon Forge with a short drive to Gatlinburg then I would highly recommend Pine Mountain RV Park. It is a newer park, all paved sites with them being larger than most RV sites in PF. The wifi in the campground works great. The owners of the campground own the hotel across the street and you have access to their indoor pool and spa. The campground itself has an outdoor pool.
I would consider this an upper scale RV park.

RE: Just not satisfied with Ocean Lakes

I guess there will always be a dissention between other MB campgrounds and Willow Tree. I have only stayed at Pirate Land and Willow Tree during our visits to MB. I can say that while Pirate Land was on the beach and I do enjoy going to the beach the negatives were far more than the positives for MY family. Once we discovered Willow Tree and its white sandy beach on its fresh spring feed lake I was hooked. They also have a pool that when I tire of the beach I can go hang out at the pool. They have many things to do at the lake for the kids, lots of inflatable slides and such. Yes you have to drive to the ocean beach but for MY family that is not bad as my kids only stayed a couple of hours before they wanted to go back to the campground.
I guess I am just used to being not on the beach because my two favorite campgrounds are Willow Tree and Topsail in Destin. Both are not on the beach.
If the OP is not satified with OL let him see the options of the others (good and bad) and let him find one that fits for his family.
Even though your wife says she prefers the ocean beach I would suggest taking a trip next time you are in MB through Willow Tree and see all that it offers for you and the kids. If you find that it would not fit then ok and I wish you luck in finding one that fits your family. Cause there is nothing like a great vacation with the family!!!!!
