RE: insurance experience

You should also be aware that once you sell the house you will have no need for the Homeowners policy. However, that policy also provided liability protection for your RV. I would suggest while you are shopping for insurance you also check into an umbrella policy. That's what Fulltimers insurance takes care of...it replaces your homeowner's insurance.

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

Talked with Dale many times...he agrees shocks must be installed much more vertically than they are by most manufacturers to be of any real use...

RE: Pic's of my new Sumi & Hispec wheel conversion's

We just did the same upgrade, but we chose different HiSpec rims and the GY G114's, H load tires...Scott and Trailer Tire and Wheel are really great to deal with. Really feel alot better with tires that can carry the weight of the ENTIRE rig....

RE: Laundry Day!

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

We've had Center Point for five years...works wonders! We removed our shocks to allow space for larger hubs with larger brakes...have very little movement...even leave stuff on counter. We do, however, have a center kitchen not a rear...

RE: Cracks in Dexter StructuraI I-Beams on Jayco 5th Wheel

Not only do they know about the problem, as they fixed my five year old unit that snapped a hanger and developed the frame cracks, using the Lippert procedure shown above....but the problem is they STILL build todays frames the exact same way they built mine...why the don't change their build procedure is beyond me.

RE: Infinity Cold Weather Test

Heartland has done the same testing on their luxury line at Dometic's testing facility for years....with comparable results.

RE: Getting ready to go full time!!! Where to winter?

Liveliness isn't the issue for us...we want sunshine and warmth! We can make friends anywhere, but prefer activities outside and would rather spend the money to travel to someplace warmer and definitely dryer than the Northwest..JMHO. For us that place is RGV.

RE: Black tank cabel pulling hard

Don't know about other manufacturer's but we just replaced all three of our pull cables and valves (black tank was not sealing properly), and none of them were "looped"....the black was pulling hard because the end had become rusty...the new cables pull very smooth. Fact is they were cut to the length needed and installed properly... Discovered some TP lodged (forced in solid after repeated attempts to close completely) in the indent where the valve would seat keeping it from closing all the way.

RE: Montana 5th wheels

There are many items within the RV that do not have a warranty other than what the original manufacturer provides. Too numerous to list. If it costs the manufacturer nothing to go to a longer warranty then why don't they offer a longer warranty? Appliances, yes, but there are many other items on a RV that can fail that are only covered by the original manufacturers warranty. I don't agree that it is only a marketing tool. If it was only a marketing tool all the others would follow with a longer warranty period. They aren't following for a very significant reason: It would be too expensive for them. I repeat, a longer manufacturer warranty is typically a better buy, especially for a full timer. Also it is much easier and a real help to have to only deal with the manufacturer (one contact) for two years rather than the manufacturer for one year and all the other component manufacturers the second year. The benefits of a longer manufacturers warranty are too numerous to list. Living full time in a unit will expedite failures that might only show up 4 or 5 years later for occasional RV use. Especially if the RV is also being towed 10's of thousand miles a year as well. Most RV's are not built for that kind of heavy usage. I agree wholeheartedly...we "shook" things loose in the first six months that wouldn't have shown up for years under recreational use. Some of the issues that occurred with our unit actually instituted running changes in Heartland's production, as they realized these items would eventually become problems for the "everyday" buyers. Input from fulltimers like us, which they actually solicit, is partially why Heartland has improved their production so much in the last several years, and now offer a 2+5 warranty on their Landmark Luxury Fulltime warranted line...

RE: 4 Point Level Up

Timing is everything! I was hopping on to ask for opinions on 6 point leveling systems. I'm looking at a Montana 3402 with it and a 3700 without it and trying to decide if this is a make or break feature. It is not a make or break feature until you have had it. After having it you will never buy another without. It is THAT easy and THAT good. Mine is the six point leveling installed in June of 2009...have not had one single issue with this system. You won't either as long as you understand it's capabilities and limitations and use it as designed.... AND I agree wholeheartedly with the above...it IS that GOOD!!!

RE: 4 Point Level Up

Glad I didn't get the Sterling with that leveling system. All my motorhome buddies said hydraulic or electric, they all have to be controlled manually. SOOO not true!! Our hydraulic Level-Up works perfectly on auto level...everyone needs to realize that some sites are more unlevel than they appear, and sometimes requires blocking under the legs to add extra "stroke" to the pistons to achieve level...once you realize that and block where necessary, these systems work great. Haven't used the manual control since we had the "brain" installed over a year ago...

RE: Heartland Augusta

I'm sorry you've had such issues with your Landmark, however, there are many, many Heartland Landmarks owners who have the opposite experience...every single manufacturer can produce a unit with issues, and Heartland is no exception. We had a very similar experience with a Holiday Rambler Alumascape, lasted only 10 months when the axle ripped off...and now own a Heartland Bighorn. MUCH better unit than the HR.... Did you ever contact Heartland directly, or have you dealt with the dealer? In most cases, dealing directly can produce a far superior experience. Might try giving them a call concerning any remaining issues...

RE: Negotiating for Cheaper Rate on Site

The park we are in wanted to charge the daily rate ($45)..after being there a month, for an additional five days. They would not negotiate so we are leaving when the month is up. Not about to pay half the monthly rate for FIVE days!

RE: lippert level up system

The Bigfoot can only extend so far also...regardless of the system, the pistons are only so long.
