RE: Offensive Good Sam Advertising

Just take your black felt tip marker and mark it REFUSED/RETURN To Sender, and put it back in the mail for the Postman to return. The original sender(GoodSam) will have to pay the return postage.

There are no worst highways for motorhomes. Just drive the road in accordance with conditions and enjoy a safe trip and be grateful you can do it. Jack.

RE: Wiper Arm

As a temporary fix you can try and dress up the serrations with a small 3 cornered file. After doing this the shaft will probably be a few thousandths of an inch undersize so use some thin foil (like from the back of a gum wrapper) to wrap around the shaft to fill the void. It might only need a partial wrap to ensure a snug fit. At best it will be temporary. Check at truck parts stores and at truck salvage yards for good parts. Jack.

Hopefully all of the various factory manuals will have been left in the coach. If they are available to you they will answer all of those questions. Good Luck. Jack.

RE: $850.00 Christmas present

Someone has seen you coming to ask a price like that for that kind of small 12 volt motor. If you have time and can get the nameplate data off of the bad motor, with that, shop around at shops that sell small low voltage motors and shop the internet.
Don't pay that price until you have looked around. Jack.

RE: Route 17 between Phoenix and Flagstaff AZ.

There are no grades steeper than 6%. From the Verde to the top of the rim it is a steady pull up. Right now it is snowing and 17 gets slicker than a greased pig. Slowing down and driving cautiously usually works. The problem is, there are those that will not slow down and end up wrecked and causing wrecks until D.P.S. gets all they can handle and then they close the road.
Then no one moves; and this goes on for hours before the road is re-opened. Jack.

RE: Quartzsite R.V. Services

I have used all of those outfits on the list but one. I do not get fresh water from any of them. I get water in town. Much cheaper.
Everybody uses these waste services and when they are in your area
and are noticed folks approach them from all directions.
Regarding not using their fresh water service: They are certified by the various county health departments and the fresh water is on a separate vehicle. I cannot recall seeing both services provided from a single vehicle. Jack.

RE: Oven wont light

It is hard to help with the limited info you have provided. At least give us a clue as to the vintage of the unit as that will determine how the oven burner is lit. Some of the older units required a standing pilot and when the oven knob was pushed in and held in for a few seconds the pilot flame would enlarge heating the tube allowing gas to flow to the burner and be lit by the enlarged pilot flame.

RE: pagosa springs Co. to queen valley AZ. route needed-HELP

Your most practical choice although longer is I-25 South out of Colorado to I-10 And on into Tucson. From Tucson take 79 North to Florence and then take 79 15 miles further to Florence Junction where you will travel 4 or 5 Miles (maybe less) to the turn off to Queen Valley. Another 4/5 miles and you are at Queen Valley.
With all that said you can pickup 70 West down around and close to where you will access I-10. That will take you into Az. at Duncan,Thru Safford,Globe,Miami(stop and have some of the best Mexican Food around in Miami) and the Hill portion of the trip down the mountain, thru the tunnel and into Superior. That hill is about 6% or so and really no big deal. Stop at the turn out at the top and check things over and proceed in lower gears (use exhaust brake if you have it). If not stay geared down and stay off the brakes. About 1/2 way down the hill (3 miles)there is a truck runaway ramp, (You won't need it).
Go thru superior and about 8-9 miles to the Queen Valley turn off. This route will keep you out of Tucson and save a few miles.

RE: 2002 Monaco Windsor 40PST comments?

We are playing with the idea of going to a Class A. A friend of mine has a 2002 Monaco Windsor 40PST that he really likes and recommended that model to us. What can you tell us, good or bad, about this particular model? Thanks!:B
entry level pusher.See If u can find a Monaco dynasty in the same era.Built much better
If your sold on a windsor here a great deal(tow car included)
http://www.rvsearch.com/findrv/index.cfm/a-d/tc-36261/vid-584461/
The 2002 windsor was a long way from being an entry level unit. It was made the same way and on the line as the dynasty, executive diplomat, etc. The Dynasty as an example was fancier with different and higher end appointments,Otherwise they are all the same with the saw dust, wood chips and other garbage left in hidden out of the way places during manufacture. With all that there are many good choices available to you so check'em all out.

RE: New Member Intro- '63 Frank/Travco RV

Many of the Dodge Travco 318 powered chassis had a two speed electric rear axle. This was a great addition to those 318 powered units as the 318 was a little underpowered for that coach. Parts for that axle are still available. If there is no control button (switch)around the steering column or on the dash it may not have been so equipped or could have been removed. Look at the differential and see if there is an electric motor mounted on the differential. If so it would be 2 speed unit.

RE: Dual pane windows

Dual pane windows are certainly nice, but I would not let lack of them keep me from a otherwise nice and acceptable coach. All else as previously stated such as wall thickness, roof construction etc, along with the huge area of the windshield is taking away from the units ability to be well heated or cooled, and with windows representing 25-35% of the wall area getting all knotted up over not having thermal or dual pane windows is not worth it.

RE: Low Coolant light on

My Monaco has done this periodically for several years now thru coolant changes etc.Nothing was ever low or leaking. I have learned after doing all the pre-trip checks to ignore the innacurate low coolant level light. I also have had a similar situation with the low fuel light after filling up, the low level light stays on until some fuel is used at which point it turns off. The fuel gauge does work properly so the light is not a factor to worry about.

RE: Is it wise to buy a coach whose mfgr is defunct?

In business, out of business, there is not a nickels worth of difference. There is not a thing used on todays RVs that you can't get someplace else. One exception might be fibre glass body parts, that's why if you have an accident where there is fibre glass damage you need to be sure and gather up all the pieces. Jack.

RE: Speedco and recycled oil

They do not use recycled oil. They offer a reputable service at a fair price. I do not use them because they are not close to me. If I were in the area of one of their centers and needed service I would certainly give them the job. Fortunately I am still able to do my own work and stay clear of the high dollar places.

RE: High gas tank pressure, Ford V-10.

Could it be a vacuum rather than Pressure? Same effect occurs when you open the cap only the sound is air being pulled back into the tank rather than being expelled. Frequently caused by a faulty cap. Jack.
