RE: Blew 2 Tires Within 100 miles!

Get yourself a Tire Pressure Monitor System.
It wont always protect you from a freak blowout. But the one like I have shows tire temp. as well as pressure. You can see things coming at least.

RE: What tire pressure monitor to buy?

Well after taking a trip using the TST system this weekend I can say I'm real happy with the investment.
It's interesting to see how the tire heat gets effected by the way the road is sloping. I could noticeably see 6-10 +/- deg. difference on the trailer tires depending on which way the road is sloped.
I could also see extra heat and pressure in my front driver side tire which is cupping due to bad alignment.
Not a wonder there installing these kinds of system on new cars and trucks.
I'm also now considering using nitrogen in my tires after seeing the pressure / heat changes.
Anybody use nitrogen with this system? And are you seeing more stable changes?

RE: What tire pressure monitor to buy?

After playing with mine a few days I really like it. I went ahead and got the 6 sensors for the trailer and a amplifier. I just didn't want it to not find the rear right corner of the trailer so felt the extra $59 worth the cost.
A good friend of mine has had the Loran system for years on his MOHO and toad and said it had saved him several times.
It's a big extra cost, but all it has to do is save me one time and will be more then worth the money IMO.

What base line are you guys setting for top and bottom end for a dually truck?
As in, if your running 80psi what high and what low are you using? And what temp?
Thanks for any help.

RE: What tire pressure monitor to buy?

I did'nt get to play with mine much after work yesterday, but I did get the front tire sensors installed. Enough to know I'm going to have problems getting them on and off on the rear duallys. And it was hard enough to get them on the fronts the way the rims are built. I had to cut one of the install tools to even get them on.
And I did'nt get the setting complete either. Just getting readings from whats there, so plenty to do yet.
The instruction could be a little better step by step. But I'll make it I think.
So now I'm looking for some kind of extensions for the duallys.
I did see on the way in this morning a pressure jump of almost 6lbs+/- in each front tire and temp. was real big.
What base line are you guys setting for top and bottom end for a dually truck?

RE: What tire pressure monitor to buy?

Pulled the trigger on the TST 507 system. Only got the starter kit plus 2 sensors, giving me a total of 6, that takes care of the trailer. I'll spend the other $300 at a later date for the truck.
Just finally glad to have a system. Looks like a good one at a good price.

RE: Backing Up to Engage Hitch

I can't see mine either. I just line up between the slider window, get within 5-6' get out take a peak, adjust heigth as needed and back in. I'd more then likely screw up if I could see it.
