RE: Planning vacation near Dollywood TN - Aug 20th

Twin Creek is a nice park. The sites on the creek are the largest and closest to the road, but noiser. Some of the sites are tight. Our site was so close, we were not able to open our awning. Also, the traffic from Gatlinburg to Dollywood can be very heavy. If Dollywood was my main interest, I would choose a campground in the Pigeon Forge area.

RE: WASHER DRYER INSTALL

Make sure you don't place the vent too high on the side wall, otherwise you will get lint build up in the vent hose. The service manager at Splendide told me that is the number one mistake made by people when installing their units. I assume it would be the same for an LG. Our Newmar Mountain Aire had a spot marked on the inside wall where they wanted you to pass through the wall to avoid any wires or studs. RV washer/dryers are not the most efficient units around, but my wife would not do without our Splendide 2100XC.

RE: Where to sell my RV

IMHO, you are wasting your time and money if you invest in any of the internet sale sites. All they brought me were scams and e-mails from wholesalers who claimed they could sell my MH if I would just subscribe to their service. I sold my last motorhome by advertising in the local newspaper and putting "FOR SALE" signs on the vehicle.

RE: No water coming through the Hot Water Line

The check valve on the water heater output is bad. They are cheap and prone to failure.

RE: Consignment of your RV

Do your homework on pricing before listing with any consignment dealer. We talked to PPL when we wanted to sell our last MH. We ended up listing it privately and sold it for $35,000 more than PPL said was the max they could get for the coach.

RE: Price to install Dingy lighting and baseplate

I used a Roadmaster tow bar and baseplate and installed it myself. This is what's required. With the Roadmaster baseplate you need to remove the Vues lower facisa, enlarge two holes in the frame, remove the two large bolts holding the Vues sub frame and install the baseplate using the 6 bolts supplied. Then cut and reinstall or leave off the facia. The lights are not hard but consume time. Install the bracket for the plug to the front of vehicle, route the wires to the rear of the vehicle and either tap into the current lighting wires and install diodes or install additional sockets. Dress wires and tie wrap in place. When you look at what's required and the time it takes at probably over $100 per hour labor rate, $650 doesn't seem that bad.

RE: Problem with onboard air quick connect - '02 Tiffin Phaeton

Although there are as many as 20 different types of air fittings, the two most common types are Automotive and Type A, most commonly known as Industrial. Both are available at Lowes, Home Depot or Harbor Freight.

RE: EXHAUST HEAT WILL MELT MUD FLAP

Awkward! If you plan on towing a vehicle I would be concerned that debris would be thrown onto the toad. Seems like some redesign is in order.

RE: Fluid Leaking From Rear Wheel

I had one leak on a previous MH. Fairly simple fix. They do not use a gasket between the outside plate and the wheel hub. It is a silicone sealant. Be sure the mating surfaces are good and clean before applying sealant and reassembly. There is an oil seal on the back side of the wheel hub, so if it is leaking from the rear it becomes a much bigger job.

RE: 10,000 mile trip

Sounds like a great trip. However, based on personal experience DO NOT TAKE your Cockatiel into Canada and expect to be able to get it back into the US trouble free. US Customs are VERY strict about bringing birds into the US, regardless of the origin without being vet checked for Bird Flu. Several years ago we were sent back into Canada and routed to a border crossing that had a vet on staff so our Cockatiel could be checked. A giant waste of time, and money.

RE: Toad Braking System

Back to the original question. It would be a shame to discard such an expensive unit for the lack of the monitor. Since you can still test the unit from the car, why not consider tapping into the toad brake light circuit and run a wire to the coach dash with an LED to indicate when the brakes are being applied. You would loose some of the functions of the monitor, but none are critical to the Even Brake operation.

RE: Trade option. Does it make sense?

As robatthelake says, it won't hurt to ask. However, I think you will find the dealer will value your coach at much less than you think it's worth and value his coach much higher than you think you should pay for it. Unless there is something you absolutely have to have on the 2009, trading "very similar models" only two model years apart doesn't make $$$ sense to me.

RE: Direct TV receiver

Every winter when we arrive in Arizona, I call the DTV moving department and they change my location from Illinois to my address in Phoenix and I get all the Phoenix local channels. Once I return home in the spring I call again and change back to my Illinois address. Each change takes no more than five minutes.

RE: WANTING NEW CLASS A

The money you will spend for a newer unit will not be offset by the small increase (if any) in MPG, assuming that is all you are after.

RE: Monaco dynasty. Anything i should know

It indicates a Freightliner Chassis. I don't believe Monaco offered a Freightliner option over their Roadmaster chassis on the Dynasty or any other model. Otherwise check the dates on the tires and be sure the recall has been done if it has the 1200 series Norcold Refrigerator.

RE: Engine diagnostics plug not odbii?

The round plug under the dash is where the Cummins Technician plugs in his laptop to read codes, engine stats or program the ECM. There are several others on my coach located in various locations. They are for convenience while working on the coach and there is also one for the Allison Trans located in the electrical bay.

RE: toad turn signal not working

Many of the electrical problem on RV's and toads are ground related. Check your ground connections, especially inside the connector. They can get moisture inside and build up corrosion.

RE: Inverter Issue?? HELP Please

Check the GFCI outlets to see if any are tripped. Then check the circuit breakers on the inverter to see if any are tripped. You may also need to do an inverter reset. Depending on the make of inverter the reset procedure may vary. Call the mfg. direct they will be able to give you specific information.
