RE: MS Streets and Trips....GPS mode

DW and I used it for a while in the GPS mode. The Nuvi are just much better than trying to us a laptop. I still use it in planning our routes. It works good for that. You are right you do not actually transfer a route, you transfer the via points so the route you create on Streets and Trips will not be the exact route created on a Nuvi if you us one. Good Luck.

RE: Sights to see between Sioux Falls and Rapid City, SD

Ditto the Corn Palace. They change the mural every year so we enjoy stopping there whenever we pall through. It only takes about an hour or two.

RE: Only 11 days before heading north to Alaska

28 days until DW and I are heading to Alaska. Have to wait until after the 16th of June. We don't think DD would be happy if we missed her wedding.
Hope you have a great trip.

RE: I'm Rich!

if I put my hand out, will you drop a nice big fat check into it?
I'll take a skinny check that has at least three commas in the number. Glad you are rich. DW's brother is also Rich.

RE: Young family potentially hitting the road soon

I have to agree with the above post. I would not want to head out on the road without any savings. You will not get much truck and TT for $6500. My guess is that you will need a good bit of money for repairs. Does your budget include health insurance? Most people have a hard time paying car insurance when the monthly budget is so tight. I would do what I have to do to build up a small nest egg before hitting the road. You never know what might come up. Good luck on whatever decision you make..

RE: Getting closer!

One of the things I love about living in the south is that we can camp all winter. Of course we pay for it in the summer, but now that we are retired we can just head north. Have a great camping season.

RE: How many states have you camped in?

We are getting excited about our big trip. We will be heading out to Alaska on 17 June (our daughter is getting married on the 16th and we thought we should stay around for that). We will be picking up 3 new states on the trip, Wisconsin, Alaska, and Washington. That will leave us needing 5 states,
Deleware, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Hawaii.

RE: First trip questions

Note pad to write down what you forgot and need to get from Walmart.
Ditto this answer. For your first trip go somewhere that is near shopping so that you can go get what you forgot. Our first trip in our TT was to Cumberland Gap National Park and we made several trips to the nearby Wal-Mart.
