RE: AC hard start cap

yes, had one put in a unit a few years back so I could run AC with a smaller generator. Worked like a charm.
3000 Honda would run AC at sea level but not in mountains after install of capacitor it would work every where.

RE: campgrounds

We stayed at Custer/Mt Rushmore KOA in late August. They were not full. They made it a point to only fill every other space so as to keep everyone spaced out which was nice as most KOA's pack 'um in pretty tight. It seemed to be a fairly central location for us.
As far as reservations go at his KOA anyway according to the guy I talked to the only time they are booked solid is bike week and holiday weekends.

RE: Windshield Cleaners

Rain-X on the windshield as needed.
To clean I use Water from my RO system and a micro fiber cloth. Windows are clearer, stay cleaner longer, don't attract dust and I don't have to buy so much glass cleaner.

RE: Running Direct TV Dry Camping

Just a wild guess here but what happened to us was, when the air conditioner cycled the surge would reset our sat box causing it to go through the signal search and set up again. We now use precautions to make sure we don't have that issue.

RE: Do You use a Brake Buddy?

I use something similar.
I will not tow my Jeep with out a brake assist with the MH I currently have.
A search will yield lots of info. I have tested stopping distance with and without brake assist. I'll use it thank you.

RE: Humming/buzz when applying brakes

But, is that motor supposed to run every time the brakes are applied?
or just when the motor is not running?
If only when motor is not running I am not sure how the OP ever really notice he had a real issue to begin with.

RE: Battery question...

Shore power may very well be charging his starting battery. My rig is made by Thor and shore power charges the starting battery. He can test with a volt meter to be sure. Also he needs to check with a volt meter to see if it is charging when the engine is running. It is starting to sound like possibly a bad alternator as well as what ever made it go dead in the first place.

RE: Generator underneath slideout - is this a problem?

I placed two first alert detectors under the tail pipe of my car in the garage. I sealed up the garage and started the engine. In the five or so minutes I let the motor rum, neither alarm sounded. Perhaps it takes a longer exposure to the gas.
My daughter had her car smog tested the other day. The report she brought back has CO at 0.0% so her exhaust would never set off a CO alarm. Your car may be the same.
Newer cars with internal combustion engines and catalytic converters produce CO2 among other things, but are not supposed to make much CO.
My generator is under the slide, but the exhaust is routed to the front out from under the slide.

RE: Scangauge II Question

I have a 2004 F53.
Transmission Temp is displayed on my Scangauge.
On the road reading generally are around 180 after warm up. I have seen temps up to 220 climbing some Very Steep grades. On cold days when snowing/raining temps never got above about 165. So I think it does work.

RE: Ford 5R110 Pan Drop INFO

From the links posted above.
Licensing for Mercon LV -- the LV stands for "low viscosity," not 55 -- begins July 1, and the fluid will be used as factory fill for 2008 models such as the Ford Focus when they roll off the assembly line this year. Ford wants it ready for the service-fill market at the same time.

RE: Smog Testing

No, I have never had trouble passing a smog test on a fuel injected computer controlled engine, unless the check engine light is on.(Excuse me I have to go knock on some thing made of wood.) Kids are moving away so I am down to 5 vehicles now.
Change the oil and oil filter. New Air filter or make sure its clean.
With the MH just driving it to the Smog Station warms it up plenty for the test, for me. With my other vehicles I drive up a short freeway grade and back before heading to the test station.
The reason to change the oil is unburned fuel collects in the oil and boils off when the engine heats up. If this is happening during the test it can skew the results. At least that is what Smog guys have told me.
It would also help to know why it is failing?
Good luck

RE: F53 Fluids change

My F53 Manual has a 2 year interval for Brake Fluid.
Coolant had a label on the reservoir that said 5 year coolant was installed.
I change the Transmission Fluid at 15,000 mile intervals.
YMMV

RE: Save Battery when towing Dingy

Excuse the ignorance, but why does the toad battery drain??
Some drain due to running a braking device. Others it seems have stuff that turns on when the key is turned to unlock the steering wheel, or stuff that won't turn off.
My Jeep goes dead running my braking device, so I ran a charge wire, no more issues.
When it did go dead, I found it easier to remove one of my coach batteries to jump start the car, than it was to unhook and all that stuff.

RE: Hard to reach accelerator?

I cut a 8" piece from 2*6 board
6"x 8" glued Velcro on the back and stuck it to carpet in front of the Pedals (brake and accelerator)
now my heel rests on the board NOT the floor, much more comfortable for me
for me raising my heel has the same effect as lowering seat, but kept my line of sight/vision view, where I wanted it
That is the same thing I did. We took a 3,400 mile trip and we were on the road about 8 hours each day we drove. After the second day knowing how far I still had to go I had to do something. The board on the floor made driving much more comfortable.
I also checked to make sure the brake peddle would not contact the board if by chance the board slid forward.

RE: San Diego to Mt Rushmore

The route I noted in my original post worked out good. I did stay on I25 North of Casper a little longer as mentioned above to skip one portion of the 2 lane route.
Other than that it was a nice drive, very little traffic, we went by a really big coal mine and lots of oil wells.
We also turned off I15 at Provo and went through Provo Canyon in route to I80, that was a nice drive also.
Safe Travels All.

RE: When to cut off the water heater

Well mine is gas only, I turn it on when we get to where were going and turn it off when we leave, if I remember, otherwise I turn it off when I get home. I fill my LPG tank once a year weather it needs it or not so I just don't worry about it. As much as these things cost to buy and maintain the LPG is not real high on my worry list.
Also I like to take a shower in the morning and when in the mountains with overnight temps in the 40's or lower it takes to long to heat the water back up.
Your experiences may vary.
