Help with getting rid of a squirrel

I've got got a squirrel that is getting up on top of my engine and eating acorns. I now have to pull the dog house cover before every trip to check and vacuum the shells up. It hasn't chewed up any wires but you never know when it will start to. It also doesn't look to be a nest but just a place to eat. Last spring just about the whole intake was covered with empty shells. All I've found here is about getting rid of mice. Any help with a squirrel?? I've thought about getting one of those cage traps and then taking it to the other side of town to let go.

RE: selling a dingy

Take the base plate off and just sell it. Why worry about selling it as a toad.

RE: Will a 230hp 5.9 DP in a 35' pull trailer of 7k lbs?

At least with Winnebago and Itasca (I have a 96 Suncruiser 34') the 230 hp Cummings was only available until 1998. Starting in 1999 the cummings went to 275 hp. The hitch on those 230 hp models and years was a class II. In my manual the most I'm to tow is 3,000 lbs with the class II hitch, gas or diesel unit. So if you're going to tow 7,000#, let us know when and where so we're not around.

RE: Recharging Roof AC units

Camping World and a few other local RV dealers said that they won't recharge a roof a/c, they just replace them. On my 96 the front Coleman is putting out a little warmer air then the rear. I got up there and cleaned out the fins. That's when I noticed that on the front unit, someone already added a saddle mount port. I've owned the MH for 2 yrs now and it was fine until now. I have a friend that has some r22 and we're just going to re-charge it. One reason the dealers won't re-charge them (becides being a sealed unit) is that they don't hold enough freon and by the time you disconnect your hose, you loose some. Mine only says on the label that it holds 13oz. I'm going to try to re-charge it before I spend $700+ for a new unit. Dealer wanted for a 15,000 btu unit over $1000 + $200 to install. I figure if I have to replace it (mines a 13,500 btu) I'll jump up to a 15,000.

RE: Easy Installation Trick: DIY P30 Front Airbags

I didn't think it was that hard ether as I use 3 or 4 zip ties per bag. As you insert bag into the hole,e the zip ties slide off

RE: 2011 jeep wrangler towing 4 down, taillights????

Contact your dealer as jeep now has a plug in wire harness for the 2007 and newer Jeeps so you can convert the tail lights. There is no cutting of your factory harness. It just plugs in under the hood to the factory harness. I can't remember the part number, sorry.

RE: Upgrading to LCD TV's

We used Toshiba's. A 26" in the front and a 22" in the rear.

Replace Roof A/C?

On our 96 Itasca Suncruiser we have (2) 13,500 btu Coleman A/C's that are both ducted. Both worked pretty good last year but on our 1st trip this year the front one didn't seem to put out as cold air as the rear. I figured that it might just to be re-charged. After we got back, I got up on the roof and removed the covers to take a look. I was surprised to find out that you can't re-charge them but that someone had already added a re-charge port to the front unit. They added a saddle type port sort of like the ones you add to a water line to hook up to a house refrigerator. I'm taking this as a sign the unit had poor cooling before. I called my local dealer and he said that they don't re-charge them but just replace them. Stopped by Campingworld and they won't re-charge it ether. How hard is it to remove and install a new one? I've already done alot of the work on my MH myself, all new shocks, front air bags (P30 chassis), changed over from 30a to 50a, installed LCD TV's front and rear, tore out carpet and installed laminate flooring front to back, etc... Local dealer said labor would be $196 and Camping World advertised it's labor for install is on sale for $55 (half off). Anyone replace one themselves?

RE: Careless Colorado

Did you put it on Mastercard or Visa? If so, contact them and complain about the part being bad. They can withhold payment to Carefree.

RE: Do U allow passengers to sit in slides while moving? Y or N

Yes we do. Except for the rear bed room and the one chair behind the co-pilot seat, the slide with the booth and the sofa is the only place to sit. We also walk around and use the bathroom while going down the road.

RE: Camping World – all the same?

We've been to the ones in Council Bluffs, IA, Springfield, MO and the one in Orlando, FL. The one in Orlando is the biggest of the 3 and Springfield being the smallest. But even Springfield was nice.

RE: MT Rushmore RV Sites

Mt Rushmore KOA in Hill City, SD is just down the same hwy as Mt. Rushmore and was great. We stayed there the whole week before Sturgis last year and to me there wasn't too many bikes. They have a great pool/playground area for the kids too. My brother-in-law is going there next week.

Patio awning won't roll back up

I've got a 96 Itasca with a Carefree patio awning. When we were packing up to come home from our last trip, our side patio awning would not roll back up on it's own. I unlocked it and had hold of the pulldown strap and nothing happened. I rolled it up by hand about half way and brought it back out to the full extended length and tried again. I unlocked it but nothing. I had to get my ladder out and I rolled it all the way back up and locked it up. It's as if the spring inside broke or something. Is it very hard to replace the spring or springs? It's always worked ok before.

RE: ecm removal

I just replaced my chip in my 96 Itasca Suncruiser. Prop up the hinged dash and move the wires a little to get to the ECM box from up top. The ECM box is attached to a bracket. There is one nut on top (actually the side but pointing up) that attaches the whole box. I think it was a 3/8" or 7/16" nut. The box has the stud welded to it. The only thing else holding it up in there is on the backside of the ECM box (the end toward the front of the motorhome) there will be 2 black plastic locator studs just like some car/truck radios have to support the rear of a in dash radio. Let the end with the nut down 1st and the ECM will come out. I did have a hard time getting it back up in there as you have to align the rear 2 plastic studs in the ECM box back into in their holes in the mounting bracket and as you've found out, there is not much room under there. I didn't remove the 2 wire plugins until I got the ECM box out from under the dash as there wasn't enough room I thought.

RE: RADIATOR

I just found an ad that Advance Auto Parts has a promotion going on where you get 25% off any radiator. Put in code RADX to get the discount. They must run that promotion all the time as when I bought mine 2 months ago the same promotion was going on.

RE: RADIATOR

I bought mine on-line through Advance Auto Parts. One for yours is $159.99 plus they have a $30 off coupon code if bought on-line. Plus they have free shipping. I received mine in about 2 days. It's the same radiator and part number (listed as differend mfg's) as O'Reilly Auto Parts.

RE: 2,600 mile trip with my 96 P30 454 TBI pulling a toad

The noise is fairly steady and it's at low to medium throttle. It happens wether I'm loaded or empty. When it happens, I can just barely feather back the throttle to make it stop. When I do feather back the throttle, you can't even feel the power loss. It also does not happen at full throttle. It is not the sound that you would get as in a 4bl carb when you floor it and open up the secondary's. This noise has been there since we bought it almost 2 yrs ago. I put out a post way back when we 1st got it and the responses were that it was a normal sound that you would get like a 4bl carb so I've never tried to trace it down. But now others are saying that they don't have this sound so I'm starting to track it down now. I will try and check the timing this weekend. We were so busy tring to get ready for the big trip and with it raining every other day that I didn't have time to check it after I installed Brians chip. The noise is not rhythmic and really doesn't vary in frequency. It's pretty constant at around the same rpm. I'd like to hook up a tach but I can't figure out which wire to get the signal from. I have 2 connectors hooked up to the distributor. One connector has a white wire and a red wire and goes to the coil. The other connector has 4 wires, a red, a purple, a white and the other one I couldn't tell but it looked like it had a stripe maybe. If anyone can tell me where to hook up the signal wire to my tach, I'll be able to tell exactly what rpm this noise is at. It's not the in the exhaust as they put in new exhaust gaskets before we bought it. It's almost got to be in the aircleaner or mounting of the aircleaner.

RE: Best time of day to get to Ft. Wilderness

We just got back from spending a week there too. We arrived on Saturday afternoon around 3pm and there was only 2 others checking in. I wouldn't think Monday would be busy at all.

RE: 2,600 mile trip with my 96 P30 454 TBI pulling a toad

Before installing the Harris chip I usually ran 87 fuel, sometimes half 87 half 89. As I said, this 2600 trip I used only 89 fuel the whole way. Our next trip planned next month is only about 220 one way down to Branson, Mo. I'm going to try using 93 fuel and see how it does. I'll be pulling the Jeep again down there and if you've been to Branson, there are plenty of hills south of Springfield, MO to go up and down but not as steep and long as the mountains in Tenn.
