RE: TV.Antenna

Yes you can replace the plastic gear at the bottom, you can also replace the square tubes. The gear was cheap, the aluminum tubes not quite so cheap.

RE: TVA Nickajack Dam Reservation

If you not going thru during Bonaroo, then Old Stone Fort SP in Manchester TN is a nice park. Also Cloudland Canyon just off I-59 is real nice.

It's not that far down to Shellmound from I-24. But I'd rather stay at Marion County Park.

RE: Fort Mountain SP, GA

The actual grade isn't that bad, the curves are what will limit your speed. They aren't hairpin, but will hold your speed to the low 30's. The shoulders are wide and there are places to pull off. IMHO you shouldn't have any problem coming up from Chatsworth. That said there are streaks on the road from over heated transmissions.
From Ellijay it about 20 miles of up and down with lots of curves

RE: Cleveland GA to Crossville TN

US-76 goes up and over. It's the best way west from Elijay. The Elijay side isn't bad at all, the Chattsworth side is steep. Don't take GA-52 from Elijay west across Fort Mt. to Chatsworth.

RE: Cleveland GA to Crossville TN

If you take GA-53 thru Dawsonville to GA-5 you can take GA-53 from Jasper on west thru Fairmont to I-75 at Calhoun.
Also If you take lizzies route to Clevland TN, you can take TN-60 to Dayton TN. The go north on US-27 to TN-68, and up to Crossville. This would save lots of miles. But TN-68 up the mountain doesn't have much shoulder, the guard rail is right there on the passenger side.

RE: 5th wheel tail gate

My tailgate does not travel. Simple solution for my simple mind.
That what I did, until I found a Custom Flow on Craig’s List for $150. Also used a 2X6 some, but mostly nothing

RE: What's used to level your TT.

I like the wedges that I use. We have the big level on the pin, just back up till the ball centers. I like them because they are not stepped. We got them at Camping World some years back, I think they still sell them.

RE: North Georgia Mountains

The road up to Black Rock Mountain is quite steep. And there are only two or three campsites that will fit a large trailer. Good for popups, Scamps and such. Amicalola Falls has a very steep road up to the campground, IIRC 20%. But they do have large sites once you get up there. Any of the other north GA State Parks you should be fine. Although Vogel can test you’re skills getting around and into a campsite.

RE: Cleveland GA to Crossville TN

Don't take US-127 north from Chattanooga. If she doesn't like Blood Mt. she won’t like Signal Mt. either. Take I-24 west to exit 155, TN-28 north will join US-127 in Dunlap TN. It's two lane, but straight with wide shoulders. You will still have to climb up to Crossville at the north end of the valley.
GA-20 from GA-400 to I-75 is ok, just slow with traffic. You can go down to I-285 just about as quick, but that not a lot of fun either.

RE: Tenn, state parks

14 tons (28,000) is the limit IIRC. It's also 1 lane. So no I wouldn't take a big DP motorhome across. But I have never had a problem with a 32' 5'th wheel.

Usually it’s just the orange wedges, but some times it takes a little more

RE: Tenn, state parks

I don't think there is swimming at OSF. There is a small lake/millpond that I have seen people fish in. There is also a boat ramp, but it's long and steep. I have been told by a local that it only fills 3 or 4 times a year Memorial, Day July 4'th, Bonnaroo Music Festival, and sometimes Labor Day. We often go in late fall, and often the back section of the campground is closed. And I've never seen more than half the sites occupied
Haven't been to Tims Ford in 10 years. They do have a pool, which was nice when we were last there. Since they have one of the Bear Trace Golf Course there I'm sure they have kept the park up. Tims Ford Lake is quite a popular lake for fishing

RE: Tenn, state parks

Shouldn't be hard at Old Stone Fort. I like OSF better than Tims Ford, but in many ways Tims Ford is a nicer park. I just don't like the campground, was like made for tents. Parking area by road with hookups, picnic table, fire ring and tent pad behind. Never camped at the Fairview Campground. But Tims Ford does have a nice pool and golf course. Old Stone Fort is rustic. The bathhouse is in need of repair, only the back one has showers. But I like it.

To full is when you hit the brakes, and a geyser comes out the vent.

RE: Where to haul the dog??

He's an inside dog for the most part. He spends s few hours each day outside when it's not too hot or too cold.
Then the only other choice is. Do you travel mostly at night, stopping when temperatures get up. Or you ride him up front with you and your wife. I would try to maybe do some of both, start early (4:00 AM) and ride Jake in the trailer. Finish up the day for a short period up in the truck. Try to get off the road early afternoon. You really wont know how he will handle it before. And really what temps you will see.

RE: Will it Fit?

The bed rails will be at least 3" higher on the new truck. We also had a 00 243RKS and a 04 2500HD, with the springs in the lowest holes it was still a little nose high, and didn't have enough over the rails. I think you will need to put the springs over the axles. And 16" tires would be a good idea also.

RE: Where to haul the dog??

Does your dog stay outside in the summer, or stay inside? If Jake is acclimated to staying outside then riding either in the back of the truck, or in the trailer may be ok. The ride in the truck bed next to the cab would be just as good as the back seat in a crewcab. With shade and hourly water and rest stops during the hottest part of the day Jake should do fine. We have Maxxair vents on our trailer, and with them open the inside temperature is the same as outside. If I were to go this route I'd put the cage at the foot of the steps, 1/2 way between the pin and wheels. Again frequent stops.
Jakes your dog, so it's up to you how or if you do it. I would most likely for a long trip go with the cage in the trailer. Much easier to get the dog in and out while traveling. Short trips I'd do the truck bed.

RE: Cherokee, NC to Red Bay, Al.

There aren't any bad grades. The worst curves were along the Ocoee River. When they removed the rockslide debris 2 years ago TDOT also worked on straightening some of the worst corners
