RE: cable inlet connection good for satellite dish inlet ?

Maybe, but it depends on how it is wired. If it goes directly to the sat receiver you probably can but many go through other devices like signal boosters or splitters that will not pass the sat signal.

RE: Tax time

You walk a fine line calling your motor home your second home. Some have done this for years, others have been denied these deductions. My tax man just said NO WAY is this classed as a second home. That is probably the worst tax advice I have ever read and a good example of why people should not ask such questions on an Internet forum.

RE: Suggestions For Older Car To Flat Tow

Most Saturns qualify, even with automatic transmissions. We flat towed a 1993 SL-2 for years and I am still driving it. They are highly reliable and can still be serviced at most GM dealerships. Because they have been discontinued the prices for used ones might be lower than for other makes.

RE: Tax time

There is no minimum requirement. The only time that comes into play is if you rent it out when you are not using it. Under those conditions the deductiblity of some expenses might be affected affected.

RE: Furnace will not light

I have had similar problems. The electrode is most likely the problem. The electrode usually serves two functions; it provides the spark and incorporates a flame sensor. It could be as simple as the spark gap being out of spec or it being dirty. If you can get to it clean it and check the gap, which should be about 1/8 inch. Replacing it will likely make the problem go away.

RE: HOW TO FILL FRESH WATER WHEN DRY CAMPING

Katoomer has it right. Use the antifreeze fill provision. My National Sea Breeze has one. I have a 40-gallon bladder tank that I use to transport water to the RV. I connect a hose from that to the antifreeze inlet port, which is labeled Inlet To Pump. I connect another hose from the outdoor shower to the regular city water inlet. The onboard pump pulls water out of the bladder tank and through the outdoor shower to fill the tank.

RE: Stripe Removal - Eraser Wheel leaves Stripe Base?

Maybe color from the stripe material has bled into the fiberglass. Be careful not to over-do it with with the eraser wheel or you might mar the surface more than it already is.
It is sounding like painting is your best option, unless you want to apply a new vinyl stripe to cover the place where the old one was. I did that on a previous RV and it came out good.

RE: Stripe Removal - Eraser Wheel leaves Stripe Base?

For a non-abrasive method of removing adhesive residue, if that is what you have, use 3M Woodgrain and Decal Adhesive Remover 08908. It is a bit spendy but works great.

RE: Colter Bay CG As Home Base To Yellowstone?

I agree with the rest that Coulter is too far from YS. The best place to stay in YS depends on what your interests are. If it is the prime geyser areas between Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful then FB is not a good choice because it is on the opposite side of the park. In that case, and if you have to have hookups, I suggest Grizzly Campground in West Yellowstone.

RE: Stripe Removal - Eraser Wheel leaves Stripe Base?

What you are probably seeing is the way the entire surface looked before the stripes were applied at the factory. The stripe material has protected it while the rest of the surface suffered sun and weather damage. Buffing might help but likely you will not be able to remove the "shadow" completely.

RE: Camping Near South Pare Island

As previously posted there are public access beaches North of town. Contrary to what that poster said 4WD is not a necessity, but as is the case with many primitive beach areas getting stuck is a possibility, especially if you do not know how to drive on sand and what conditions to avoid. We looked at those sites and did not find them appealing. I suggest going farther North to Port Aransas. There you can buy a County beach pass for something like $12 that allows you to dry camp along several miles of easy-access beach.

RE: El Moro Crystal Cove state beach, Laguna, CA

We have not camped there but have visited to see what is going on. The campground is on a hill some distance from the beach. It was at one time occupied by long-term residents in mobile homes. The sites are terraced. The upper terraces have hookups. All have an ocean view but it is too far to be called hiking distance for most people.

RE: The Tension Strings in a Curtain are Broken

We have a local shop that will restring them for a nominal fee (less than replacement cost) but I would not attempt it myself. You can probably buy a replacement at a home improvement store such as Home Depot.

RE: Hour meter

There are a lot of hour meters available on eBay and elsewhere for not much money. You first need to find out the input voltage specs on the one you have, and get the dimensions of it. I am sure you an find a replacement with just a little effort.

RE: ADDING REFRIGERANT TO ROOFTOP A/C

I agree with Big Kahuna. Even if you pay the price to have a valve installed and the unit refilled you have no assurance that it will work. If the coolant is gone, what caused that?
