RE: Tow Vehicle Purchase

I guess I will throw my 2 cents in as well. While I am no weight expert with towing, I did do my first season with our travel star 19ck in a Ford Explorer V6 4x4 rated at 5300 lbs. towing capacity. It worked reasonably well for short distances with a WDH of course but I did have my moments where the knuckles on the steering wheel were white. This alone made it quite clear that if I were to do any serious travel I would need something more substantial than an Explorer. But the other part was vehicle maintenance. There is no getting around this you WILL put additional ware and tear on a vehicle of this size and you need to be prepared for that cost. I my Explorer the one item that went out for me were the rear axle bearings. The end result that I decided to do was to get a bigger vehicle. Yes you may be able to pull with your lawnmower like Chuck said but it's not going to be much fun after the first couple of trips as far as driving goes. Just something to think about. My solution is below in my signature where I don't even think about the weight of my Hybrid now.

RE: 12v outlet

On my 2004 Starcraft I've used the 12V outlet with an inverter on several occaisions. Small devices like a fan or to power my laptop were the primary use and it worked quite well for that. The inverter was a 300 watt model thou I never came close to using that much at any time.
