RE: Solar Eclipse

I took about 75 pictures. They looked great in the LCD view but when I downloaded them, all I got was a bright white page :(
Well, live and learn. Albuquerque was dead center of the travel.

He's the kind of person we can respect as a athlete. Especially when you consider all he's had to overcome to be great.

RE: 25 L / 100 KM is this about average ?

9.3 for a 36' MH is way better fuel mileage than any other gasser will get. Keep that MH, its a pip.
One has to ask, was that a one tank fuel mileage check or several tankful average?
One tank full check means your gonna' be disappointed in the big picture of several tank full average.

RE: Removing small Lp can from Weber Q before storing?

Definitely, remove the cylinder. Even a tiny leak in a confined area over a period of time creates a bigger and bigger bomb.

RE: Suspicious Verizon Phone Call

Thanks for the verification of my suspicion. I was born in the dark of night but it wasn't last night and I have to say: this scam is really done well. Its page and even the url line at the top of the page looks exactly like the Verizon log-on page. I'm betting that there are a lot of people falling for this scam. The crooks are getting better and better at their ploy.

Suspicious Verizon Phone Call

Just received a very professional sounding phone call from a Verizon rep saying that I should log onto "www.myverizonsummer.com", log on and go to the verizon summer page and get a $100.00 credit.
I did indeed go to that url and the page looks very legit and exactly like the myverizon page always does. I didn't log on but I did go to my regular "myverizon.com" bookmark and logged in and couldn't find anything that eluded to my verizon summer.

RE: Headlight restoration project

There is a lot of different products that will give very good results. But the biggest problem is once you do the deed, the great clear look will quickly deteriorate. I found that there is a clear coat available at AutoZone that will keep the clear look a few months longer.

RE: Dinette Invention

Be very careful in your attempt to design a safety device. You could end up doing much more harm than good. A belt in the wrong place (as a person sleeps could move) might end up breaking the passengers neck.
You can be sure that millions (billions?) of dollars has gone into the safest, best restraint system that is functional and easy to use.
Your intent is very good but I think I'd rather just insist that the passengers learn to sleep sitting up or staying awake while in motion and of course buckled up.

You'd be in for a rude awakening. Don't test the mine-set of a 15 year old.

RE: Ground Fault Keeps Tripping

Of course it works fine when not on a GFCI. You have a GFCI in the coach and you cannot use one on the main line. There is a conflict when you attempt to use two GFCI.
I'm not an electrician by any means so I'm not qualified to argue with one, but: I'm plugged into a GFI 20 amp plug at my sons home and I have two different GFI's in my MH that control all outlets and they are working fine. WHat am I missing? Are you saying it shouldn't work???

RE: Hobbies...

N scale model railroading
I am surprised that model railroading wasn't mentioned a bit more. If we had the room (no basement) I think that is something I could get into.
That would work in a stick and brick but not for fulltimers :)
Actually model trains would be like watching paint dry, to me. But it is amazing at how popular it really is. Most RC hobby shops also have a huge amount of model train merchandise to offer. Like all other hobbies, I'm betting you could easily sink a lot into it.

RE: Re-coating a MH roof - What did you use?

Thanks for all the very good advice. Gonna sleep on it and probably attempt the task this summer as we spend 4 months there at Star Valley. Great summer temps and time to do it right.

RE: Class A Diesel or Gas?

Sorry but your query falls directly in with:
1) 6 volt or 12 volt batteries
2) slides or no slides
3) MH or 5th Wheel
4) Chemicals or no chemicals in the toilet.
Seriously:
There is a lot of advantages to owning a gas Class A over a diesel.
1) The average shade tree mechanic might be more comfortable with it.
2) Maintenance of the drive train is less expensive than a diesel
3) Just as roomy (same length to same length) as a diesel.
4) Fuel is usually a little cheaper.
5) Handles just as well as a diesel.
6) Less money to purchase than a diesel.
Advantages of a diesel over gas?
1) Quieter, much quieter in the drive.
2) Smoother ride
3) More miles from an engine....not that anyone ever puts enough miles on any RV to need a replacement.
4) Larger (longer) lengths are possible.
5) Towing capacity is much better than a gas.
6) Size for size, you get more HP (torque) to climb a hill with ease.
7) Fuel mileage is normally better (size for size) than a gas. Even paying a few pennies more for diesel, you end up getter better cost per mile than a gasser.
8) Did I mention quieter and smoother ride :)

RE: reversed polarity on plug?

It should be as simple as reversing the black and white wire on the plug. Probably just need a screwdriver to do it.
Yes, its just that simple but only for someone who is qualified to do the task. First you have to turn off the power (of course that goes without saying, but......) Second you have to insure that the power is indeed off. Then you go about removing the outlet and correcting the problem.
Not trying to be a smart*** but when dealing with a forum with unknown skills and knowledge, its better to spell it out especially when it comes to electricity.

Re-coating a MH roof - What did you use?

I have a 2001 Fleetwood Expedition with the rubber roof. Its been outside all of its life and mostly in hot climate. We fulltime and don't do cold or snow.
A good portion of the white is now gone from the roof and it looks bad but the roof is still in very good condition.
I'd like to coat the roof with a white sealer and I'm curious as to what others have used with success and how hard was it to apply. I'm 72 but agile so I think I can paint or use a roller without any difficulty.
I just don't want to coat it with something that is going to end up a big mistake and once on, impossible to remove and re-do.

RE: Paralell 12v Water pumps...?

Never hear of it, but: I'm thinking that they would argue with each other. One would detect a load pressure and think that there was no need for water so it wouldn't kick in.
Kinda' like hooking up two battery chargers to a battery, one would think that the charge is higher than it really is.
