RE: Robin Gibb passes

Sad, yes......I always enjoyed their music. Only one left now --- the oldest one!
That's right, I had forgotten, only Barry left. Very sad, I have very good memories when hearing their music.

RE: Massena Kampground, Massena, NY - anyone been?

We go there regularly....it is nice a clean and quiet. Try to get a river site.
Full hook up sites include cable (lots of channels) if you are into that.
Bathrooms are spotless.
The people that run the place are friendly. Mostly people from Ontario camp there. US Customs at Massena are very used to campers going there, so pretty painless to cross.
There is a mall and grocery store nearby and a Walmart a mile or two down the road.
The only negative point is that the pool is not heated so too cool for my liking.
Well, I didn't get much choice when making the reservation - only 4 sites were available for that weekend due to Canada Day weekend and Independence Day is on the Wednesday. I chose the one at the end of the entry road and right near the dog walk. I like seeing nothing but open space beside my MH instead of someone else's wall so, with the road there and no other spots on the other side, it makes me feel like my site is much bigger.
Yep, those river sites go fast..Enjoy your weekend there.

RE: Blanket Reprimands

Unfortunately, due to the excessive proliferation of "political correctness" in this country, the excessive coddling of our children and unwillingness to expose them to any negativity, life in management is no longer driven by common sense. To single out individuals opens one up for immediate accusations on unfair treatment. For initial offenses, it often makes sense to gather everyone up for a "review" of the rules and expectations. This will ensure that EVERYONE is on the same page, before disciplinary actions are taken against any non-conforming individuals. We have (and continue to) become a society of thin skinned babies, who are unable to follow rules and accept criticisms.... Sad, sad sad.........
Ding, Ding, Ding...we have a winner!!!! I totally agree.

RE: Tire Opinion

Congratulations, you made a wise decision.
I have NEVER had any problems with my Maxxis tires....over 25,000 miles.
Pick up a Maxxis M8008 tire and another Chinese made tire, you will see the difference. My fiver came with chinese TowMax tires, the difference in weight between the TowMax tire and the Maxxis was incredible. I must admit that I went from a D tire to an E tire.
Maxxis St tires are manufactured in Thailand. Maxxis does manufacture other types of tires in various plants in other countries.

RE: Tire Opinion

To answer your question: none of the above.
I agree with downtheroad. Maxxis is the only way to go. You can buy them online and have them shipped to your house.

RE: Bell Tv

When I first heard about Bell not permitting use of their system in the USA, I called them. I was told the CRTC did not allow the system to be used outside Canada. I then called the CRTC and was told they have no interest whatsoever in where the signal is received. Still a strange situation.
Why am I not surprised?

RE: Importing MH from the US

I bought a motorhome a few years ago in North Carolina.
The information bobmacc & michelb are providing is correct.
Your temporary licence plate is valid in Canada, just make sure you get one for the longest period possible (30 to 45 days) to give you ample time for the various inspections. Of course make sure you are insured the minute you drive away with it.

RE: Tires...

Mudchucker,
Maxxis are the very best 15 inch ST tire on the planet. I recommend you check out summitracing.com for Maxxis tires, their prices were the best when I was pricing them, shipping to Canada, although a little more expensive, was very reasonable. Check them out.
Your other option, which may run you close to $2000.00 is to upgrade to 16 inch wheels and go with LT tires. One thing to consider if considering this upgrade is the clearance required between the tires & also the required 3 inch clearance between the top of the tire and bottom frame of the trailer.
If you want quality stuff, you will unfortunately have to pay, either way.
Good luck in your decsion.

RE: Bell Tv

Historically Bell has really got their knickers in a bunch if they discovered that a canuck was accessing their sat system while out of Canada. I have no idea what the beef is or perhaps was in the event that they can somehow limit the reception south of the 49th as suggested above. Really don't understand the philosophy here.
My neigbour works for Bell. Apparently it is a CRTC thing which does not apply to Shaw.

RE: Traveling to Canada with a firearm.

I need information on taking my service revolver into Canada. Here are the particulars: I am a retired campus police officer with a lifetime peresonal protection permit issued in the state of Indiana. There are reciprical agreements with other stases in which I travel.
I keep my weapon either in my vehicle or my travel trailer when on the road. I am going on an extended trip soon and plan to enter Canada in May. My question is: "Will there be a problen in crossing the border as, if I remember correctly, handguns are frowned upon in Canada?"
This post is not to be turned into a moral discussion about carrying firems, only about any problems transporting. Also I do have a valid US Pasport Thank you for your response.
Larry Dirr
Canada is a Sovereign Nation....not a reciprocal state with Indiana.
So regardless of your lifetime personal protection permit issued in Indiana you will need to leave it here in the USA and retrieve it upon your return to the USA.
Drop it off at a gun shop for cleaning prior to crossing into Canada and pick it back up afterwards........ammo too!!!
Biscuit basically has summed it up pretty good.
Guns for personal protection don't cut it up here, sorry. If you were going to a shooting competition or to display it at a gun show, then maybe a different story, would still have some paperwork to do.

RE: GM built in brake controller question

I suspect it is normal because it is normal on a Ford integrated brake controller. I would not worry about it.

RE: Camper Title

I bought a fifthwheel from people in Mass. The trailer had a lien on it. Once I gave the guy the check, it took 1 month for the title to arrive from the bank.
I was not a happy camper.
